Starting grid, career mode

Is there a way you can start higher on the grid in career mode ? I like to play on Expert or Pro, but find it impossible to get through the dumb AI and battle with the leader. I’m always setting the fastest lap times, but I have to drop the difficulty level just so it’s possible to catch the leader after getting rammed and smashed in the middle of the pack.

Some mod cards help. One lets you ghost through them, others give you better starting positions. Apart from that, you need to be super aggressive on the first lap and take no prisoners. IF need be disable damage and bash your way through. The AI wont change behavior so you need to take that in to account.

And the AI learn from your drivatar behavior which makes them all more aggressive. It’s a vicious cycle hahahaha

I’m not so sure they do, the last couple of weeks I have been on a mission to bash the AI without mercy at the start of the race and I haven’t seen anything different in their behavior. I will even restart the race to see if I can reproduce the havoc I just created and without fail it follows the same pattern. With that said I would love to see the AI learn and become more aggressive based on my aggression that would be awesome and increase the fun factor even more.

Actuall he means your Drivtar not the ones you race with but all the people who race your drivtar. And if you want to see how well they copy behaviour just pop on over to Horizon 3 and watch all the Drivtars that now drive down the center line on the freeway.

There are a few Mod cards that bump your starting position, but basically no.

Unless there are mod cards that bump you up the grid as there was in FM6 then no, there isn’t, because for whatever godforsaken frustrating reason, T10 steadfastly refuses to put in a qualifying mechanic. It’s annoying, and it’s completely anti-Motorsport but it’s a way to add “difficulty” without actually having to train your AI to drive better, and it seems it’s here to stay.

EDIT: so there you go. There are mod cards but still, annoying.

The only way I am aware of is mod cards. It’s very strange but on oval tracks I can lap ai on expert, go to another type of track and it can be impossible. It is literally not right, and yes I set better lap times as well.

I don’t know if it helps or not, but if you turn “Limit Aggression” off it actually has a positive effect on AI behaviour. Switching it on turns drivatards into psychotards for some strange reason.

You got that the wrong way round. You turn it on to “limit drivatar aggression” n turn it off to make aggression unlimited

Turning it on makes them drive better turning it off makes them worse

It is exactly the other way around.
AI Is less aggressive when set to off and the pure rage will be unleashed when limited aggressiveness is set to on.

Call it bug, unintentionally swapped or whatever.

Glad it’s not just me…

No not just you a few of the guys on my friends list have now turned on Drivtar Agression and they were supprised at the difference as they were expecting to get gang bashed before the race even started I have mine set to OFF and staying that way till they one day get super agro after a patch that will be a fun race when that happens.

Actually, unless they’ve fixed it (haven’t heard anything), the limit aggression option was broken and did the opposite of what it should. Mine is still “off” and it’s nowhere near as hectic as it was when it was “on,” at least in my experience. I know how it should work, but I believe it’s still broken.

I’ve got it on n they don’t seem too bad lol

Typical turn 10😂

Learn the track and find the advantage to overtake, not hard.

Run long races. Keep plugging away n u will get better at passing n get to the front quicker.

I’ve had to have dropped half a million on the Premier Mod Card crates and have yet to get one card that gives me a better starting position. I’m assuming those are “Legendary” mod cards (of which i have gotten ONE from the Premier crates i have been buying).

Most of the ones I get are just double down, perfect passes and corners, and stay on track.

Uncommon card

There are several different ones but they only give you up to 3 places ahead is the most I have seen the Ghost cards are the best Have seen Ghost 1 lap Legendary and I also have Ghost for 180s Rare Mod card that is 4 laps or more on some tracks. all come with 0 bonus though.
