Need some help with NASCAR racing!

So I’m playing the Evolution Championship, and I’m doing the NASCAR series.
I’m easily winning on the Pro difficulty, on the oval tracks like Homestead.

But when it sets me on a race track like Road America in a NASCAR, I lose by quite a lot.

I can’t seem to even win, when the drivatar difficulty is at Above Average (Do mind, this is like 3 stages of difficulty lower than what I normally play on)
Even on that difficulty the AI just conpletely beats me, it makes no sense.
Any advice?

It’s like that in many series.

The drivatar difficulty is very inconsistent. Be prepared to adjust the settings frequently, depending on the track you´re on (and the car you´ve chosen).

It make no sense to you, because you are assuming (correctly) the AI setting would/should give you a similar competition on each of your race.

The issue is that in FM7 it does not do it. The AI is, unfortunately, not consistent within a difficulty level and massively cheat on certain track. Mostly the one with long straight, so expect to struggle at Sebring and Road America at the difficulty you are used to run. Meanwhile set it to one difficulty higher on Prague and you’ll probably beat the AI and even lap them all in a long race.

Alternatively for more details, search those very forum for Sebring and AI thread and you’ll see what is happening.

The only difference in the AI difficulty levels is the cap on their HP. The behavior doesn’t change at all. I can beat most unbeatable AI on specific tracks even if it takes 6 or so laps to do so. I’ve saved replays on Long Beach and a Drag Race in the #2 Team Penske Chevy Indy Car with AI set at Unbeatable. The exact same car at the start was next to me and rockets off. The Indy Cars are capped at 680 HP but if you watch the telemetry in replay the AI is hitting up to 800 HP. So any race that has long straight aways such as Sebring and Road America you are gonna suffer as they just blast away. My way around this in Freeplay mode is to have multi class races because the AI is horrible at passing slower cars. In Career Mode not much you can do. I just run most the series in Career Mode at Average and Standard Laps to get them out of the way. I don’t waste mod cards on these races. I do long Endurance Races in Freeplay and use my mods there for big earnings.

its like the whole polaris event series, in that i won, i won , i won, i won untill the last race i got kicked down to 5th because the other 4 were quite simply faster on straights even if i had any chance on corners when the track opened out they had +50km/h of speed on me. Had to rerun the entire thing because that instance of ai hacking caused me to lose in points due to the highly unimaginative fixed AI positions

It’s utterly ridiculous that we have to stay within the limits of homoligation(which I don’t mind it keeps things balanced) but the AI doesn’t have to adhere to the same rules and restrictions. In real world racing those racers would be penalized or disqualified for such things.

Just reached this series, won on Pro first place on the first oval track, second track is a circuit and best I could come is 5th on Expert, guess ill just drop the AI difficulty even more until I win, Turn10 really needs to fix this and stop with the AI HP boost [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D], just have them drive better

Ran into the same problem. Thought AI was cheating. Then realized that your nascar is setup for oval, not track. IE: Speed instead of acceleration, handling etc.

I had to make 2 tunes for my nascar. One for oval and one for normal track. That was the only way to fix it.

Normal Track: Basically you make some minor tweaks to handling but you want to make sure you set the car from speed to acceleration.
