They have a weekly PR drift zone about once every 6 months. I don’t find them easy either but they are relatively rare. Just do the online - there’s no requirement to win or to do anything other than participate, so it’s literally 20 minutes at most to get the required achievement.
Also try the Forumla Drift 370Z. I used an S2 AWD tune by KenBlockSohn. Stay in first and go slow. I am not good at drifting either.
That’s the guys tunes!
I could finally do the trial with my friend and my Alfa took first two victories, on last one I was second, in draft of my friends Maserati, with my tune.
This drift zone is giving many people trouble (including my friend), I did it in my offroad tuned Agera RS.
Did my new PB before this run, but didn’t record it, this run is 14k short of it.
For the drift zones, I use the Willys Jeep and a tune by SolomonGrundle.
Works great for all the drift zones
If you’re decent at drifting, yes, you can do it with many cars and without a good tune, but if someone is struggling, they should use something as good as they can get. I tuned the Abarth 595 a long time ago, but hadn’t shared it before today. Before I shared it today, I experimented with some settings changes, and everything I changed made it worse, so I was happy it was well optimised, and shared it. There is a lot of personal preference in drift tunes, though, and the RTR Mustang is certainly very different in feel to the 595.
Yes, I agree. My post wasn’t about to brag, but just to show that you don’t need super tune to make it. This is one of easiest drift zones in the game.
Personally, I can’t make any short wheel base car to work properly in drift. Can’t say if that depends on diferent technique or something else, but it just doesn’t work for me.
Maybe it would be best if George RGJ post a video of his attempt?
I’m using the #25 RTR as well. I think it’s pretty much identical to the the other one, but has cool green lights instead of a pizza for a steering wheel xD
As a seriously rubbish drifter, I found it easier to start from the other end as it makes the first corner easier.
Used Drift 599 with the kenblocksohn bloke tune, and managed 52k for my first ever 3 star drift zone, in auto. Normally get 1 star.
Also, stop after 15-20 minutes, do something else and come back relaxed for another go, rather than getting frustrated. Worked for me.
Ok, late but hey, it’s here. lol
The Trial - I ran the trial quite a few times, it has been an experience. I was rarely ever able to get out front early so it became a battle of bad drivers. My first time running was in a 2017 Bentley, and right near the beginning going around the rotary, I got in a force battle between two AI…they shuddered my car back and forth like mad, it was funny to watch. I wish I recorded it. The second track was rough with the Bentleys. The turns were too tight and too close together to effectively transition. Could still place, but it was tough to make it to the front, especially against a Maserati. The third track was my most successful having more consistently placed first with each of the three cars I ran. I had success with a Bentley Continental in another race at S1 so I was committed to making a Bentley work. I ran the 2017. It was fast but could never get enough grip to handle the turns adequately. I ended up with a decent tune for a 2013 but it is not forgiving. If you get caught in traffic, bound up with crashers, or take a turn too hard, it is very difficult to make it back to the front. It is capable of leading and had a pretty decent feel to it. But this is not its best event. I did have a good bit of success with the Maserati. My first tune was very grip heavy and handled all the turns well but suffered in straights. So I took a little off and put it into power and got a good balance. But worst of all were my fellow drivers. Out of numerous runs, I had one…one where we treated each other like teammates. My second to last run tonight was more like a Battle Royale than a race. Two were 2017 Bentleys and you couldn’t get through a turn without getting wiped out. Fortunately, in the third, there is that first full right-hander that allows me to squeak by while everyone else piles in. But it just gets frustrating.

PGG - I knew I wanted to run the Taxi…there may have been better options, but this was going to be mine no matter. It turns out, it’s pretty good. Has decent speed, turns well, and it pretty stable.
1964 Austin FX4 Taxi Tune: 154 861 729
Sports Day - Already had the Abarth tuned up, and got to run it with the livery I’m entering in the contest, so double win. lol. Ran well, had good grip and decent speed. Easy to drive.
2017 Abarth 124 Spider Tune: 148 908 803
Romeo & Juliet - I knew I wanted to run the P3…but I also needed something a bit more reliable. The Stradale is fine. Good speed, good handling. The P3 however, is just plain fun. It’s a bit slippery, but it has the power for sure. Just gotta rally-style the back end in turns and feather that accelerator and you’re good. Not a novice set-up, lol.

1934 Alfa Romeo P3 Tune: 179 794 439
Flying Fifties - I wanted to run the Chevy 150 thinking it would be a balance between weight/power…but never got to it. Did up a Hornet and then the Porsche. Total opposite ends of the spectrum, lol. They each run well but wow, the Porsche had no grip whatsoever. Figured at C600, no need or room to upgrade the tires, but it really suffers for it.

I made a surprise discovery while tuning up a VW Type 2…and accidentally made a pretty decent drift car with it. I took it over to the drift challenge and set my personal best in two consecutive passes. I am more of a powerslider…drifting does not come easily to me. And the cars that are ‘set up’ as drift cars are disastrous to me. I have a few that I have done up to suit my driving style, and managed to complete 28 out of the 30 drift tracks. S-Bends was the undoing of me. I just couldn’t get it done. My first pass with the Type 2 almost beat my best try at that point. Ran it a few more times and finally nailed it. Then was the gravely one over by Ambleside. I just couldn’t find where the scoring line was, seemed to have nothing to do with the guideline or the inside of the turns. But finally hit it with the VW. So yay, finally got that achievement. lol
