I’ve had a rough weekend, and the some things getting me down has made me think about not even bothering with this week. I had everything done except the Trial and PGG, and I wanted a distraction tonight. They may be bit sparse for me, but I’m still going to share what I’ve done:
Weekly Challenge
- Own and drive any Buggy
- Rack up 10 Air Skills in your Buggy
Car Used: 1969 Volkswagen Class 5/1600 Baja Bug
Tune: Seasonal Tune - 137 784 103 (tune by Valorster)
This isn’t the tune I was going to use this tune, and I was building my own. I had put this one on as a test, called it a day, and forgot which tune I had put on until the very end of this AND the Championship. It is a pretty solid tune on ground and tarmac and holds up well. To get the Air skills, I went down to Bamburgh Castle and jumped around the dunes.
- Win a Cross Country Series event at the Castle Cross Country Circuit in your Buggy
Course Used: Castle Drop - 225 217 681
Quick and simple track that’s only 0.9 miles. AI has a chicane to the left, but you can go straight. But be careful if you do: the turn from the second checkpoint is a SHARP right turn. Weaves through the dunes, goes into the castle and goes to where the Danger Sign usually goes, and it ends mid-air.
- “Test out the all-terrain capability of your Buggy and drive it for a total of 10 miles through the open countryside” (note: if this doesn’t register on your currently owned car, try buying a new one, which has fixed the issue in previous seasons)
I just did the “Sugar, Oh Buggy Buggy” Championships. That’s much more than 10 miles, and you’ll get it during the second race. Sooner if you drive to the races.
SEASONAL EVENTS
- The Trial Co-Op Championship: “Drive on the Wild Side” | Street Scene | (B700) 1970s
Car Used: 1970 Chevy El Camino SS
Tune: Lyla - 558 040 443
This week’s tune name theme is more Britpop, specifically Oasis. I went for speed for once on this one, and it paid off. Vintage tires, built up brakes, gears, etc… but stock engine. It’ll get off the line, but it steers like an aircraft carrier. So keep that in mind when you’re turning/braking. Got third in all three races.
- Seasonal Playground Games: Mortimer Gardens | (A800) Horizon Special: Muscle vs Tuner
Car Used: 1932 Ford DeLuxe 5-Window Coupe
Tune: Live Forever - 871 039 779
I decided to be a goof when I saw that the '32 DeLuxe was an option. This a good mixture of speed, agility, and heft. Not won yet, but it’s very good handling for PGG.
- PR Stunt: Swan Dive Danger Sign | 800.5 feet
- PR Stunt: Greendale Speed Trap | 200.0 mph
Car Used: Koenigsegg CCGT
Tune: Zoner - 160 891 674
As usual, this car is very good on a speed traps. Just be careful with traffic. As for the Danger Sign, your best bet is to start on the road where the Meadows Sprint is, go to the end of the road and cut through the field. It’ll take a bit of tree dodging and timing of a jump beforehand, but you can get a pretty clear shot.
- PR Stunt: Rolling Fields Speed Zone | 106.0 mph
Car Used: Jeep Trailcat
Tune: Flatout - 130 018 811
I was just a little cheeky with this one. Started at dirt road just west of the Coombe Speed Trap, got a run up and cut through the field. The one good thing about Dirt Speed Zones is they seem to have more forgiving shoulders.
- Championship: “Star Dew Rallye” | Dirt Racing | (B700) Country: France
Car Used: 1980 Renault 5 Turbo
Tune: Songbird - 108 284 167
This is a sound all-around. It might lag a bit in the beginning, but it’s good at cornering and has a decent top end when it gets there.
- Championship: “The Car in Front” | Road Racing | (B700) Manufacturer: Toyota
Car Used: 1994 Toyota Celica
Tune: Slide Away - 449 479 221
This car handled quite well and was more than able to keep up. Sorry for not being descriptive, but I built it on Saturday and did the race then… and forgot JUST how good it did…
- Championship: “Sugar, Oh Buggy Buggy” | Cross Country | (B700) Offroad Buggies
Car Used: 1969 Volkswagen Class 5/1600 Baja Bug
Tune: Seasonal Tuned - 137 784 103 (tune by Valorster)
I’m actually glad I didn’t go with my own tune, because I can NEVER make a good B-Class tune for The Ridge for some reason. But with Valorster’s tune, I was able to have less issues jumping off the ridge and winning all three races.
