I’d like to take a moment to thank my team in the trial (except 1) for dropping out and allowing me to win. I took 1st place in all three races but no one on my team even managed to finish the first race. All but one of them dropped out in the second which was enough for me to take it on my first try. Before anyone says that I should’ve blocked the drivatars to let them catch up, I’ve done that several times in the past and one of the ungrateful fools inevitably rams me out of first place so they’re on their own.

For reference I used the 1973 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am SD-455. It was a bit greasy but it got the job done.

Wow I mean your teammates must have been seriously bad to struggle with this week’s trial.

And I’m with you on not bothering blocking the drivatars, very few realise what you’re doing and anyway it’s supposed to be a team mode, not 1 player carrying a bunch of inept others.

For this weeks Trial, I used
1973 Nissan Skyline H/T 2000GT-R
I had made a Tune for it at some point and called it Trial BClass
Share Code is 145 918 837

First Race I went to 3rd place, immediately, by 20% three people had dropped, and I was up to first. By the end of the race everyone dropped but me.
Second Race I went to 2nd, passed the BJ Branco, and was home free
Third race I was 4th for a while, until about 50% when I was in second, then about 60% was in First and Won that too.

Give it a Try, Its quick off the line, easy to handle. If anyone does, please let me know how you like it.

I wish I could share screenshots from Xbox to here, I’m sure there is a way, but you think I can find the link? Nope

For the French Races this week, I used the Stock 2010 Megane R.S. 250 - I mean with a PI of 666, why not.

did trail. yet counter still stuck at 77 % for some reason. that was before the trail event.

I was a bit apprehensive about the buggy championship, because everybody usually complains that it’s bugged (heh) and the AI runs away with them. And the last time I tried one, I struggled with it. So I actually knocked the AI down to ‘Highly Skilled’, and it was no trouble at all. I won all 3 races. Maybe on ‘Expert’ or higher it’s worse. But honestly, I’m not above coming down a level if that’s what it takes. I’ll do it for Street races too if I have to. But for everything else, I need to de-rust.

Maybe the problem is not that the AI is bugged and OP, but that buggies need a bit of a paradigm shift in how to handle them when you’re accustomed to driving all the other cars in the game. They bounce around a lot, they get knocked around easily, sometimes unpredictably, they don’t spend a lot of time on the ground where you can have some influence over their direction or momentum. Some of them have a smaller wheelbase than we’re used to. You almost have to relearn how to drive them in-game.

Or, maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about, and would get trounced if I put the difficulty back up to my usual levels.

It would be nice to have a genuinely new showcase remix instead of either the same thing in a different season or just chucking that silly taxi in.

This week’s trial had me join a team of only 4 of which 2 quit pretty much right after the start of the first race. I really don’t understand why as chances are usually much better with smaller teams, but oh well. I used the 74 Civic which destroyed the drivatars and had half the pack including my remaining mate not able to finish in time.

The civic is a real beast. It is more suited to dirt and slides a fair bit on tarmac in my opinion, but it’s always controllable and very, very fast. I was busy and missed the first few seconds of the second race, my teammate decided to leave - joke’s on him because I still won the race as well as race #3. B700 road races are fairly easy, especially when there are so many good cars to chose from. I would like to try a few other 70s cars, but sadly my time this week is very limited.

Oh yeah, the Star Dew Rally was a fun event for which I took the Bugatti 35C. I didn’t even know before that it would be eligible as a French brand, but there it was as the only car for which I had a B700 tune. Fun to race against all the modern day cars with this oldie which surprised me on the dirt, leaving the competition behind.

I don’t know about all the B700 events but except for the off-road buggy mess there isn’t really much competition, I hope they’ll up the game a bit in the next series.

The Trial - Wild Side
This one was interesting. The AI were crash bandits and someone brought in an S2 910…so of course the AI had one in response. Dude still couldn’t take first. lol. Not sure how they do that, but it only ruins it for everyone because you are now guaranteeing the AI will have a top driver. Just gave them 500 points or more…650 in this case. Ran the A110 and still managed 2nd - 4th in each race. Yes, I beat the guy with an S2…shows how bad (sorry corrected) he was at racing. Later ran the A110 again, was nice and smooth. Seemed unimpressive but climbed the pack steadily and set a good pace. Ran The Trial later with probably my worst tune ever, lol. BMW 2002. Granted, it still did well, but it was horribly unforgiving. If you ran anything but a nearly clean race, it just did not have the pick up to regain.
Renault Alpine A110
Tune: 122 194 612

Playground - Spring Games
Ok, as I have said before, I’m no prized tuner. But occasionally, I hit it well enough. Despite having bad luck in losing teammates, both cars performed really well. Consistently was the last one tagged in virus, and after everyone else had left, ran a Flag game as a solo performer. Still scored 3 times against a field of 6 players. I’ll take that as a win…lol.
Ford Deluxe 5-Window Coupe Tune: 165 503 579
Datsun 510 Tune: 606 081 884

Star Dew Rallye
This was what I had originally tuned the A110 for. Ran great. Pulled a steady lead and was off and running. Saw the Bugatti was also allowed so ran that as well. Surprised me in that it also excelled. Really fast low end, good top. A little loose as it has Vintage Racer tires on it, but ya just gotta slide the turns a little. Both cars finished about 6 seconds ahead in the first race, and 10 seconds in the other two.
Renault Alpine A110 Tune: 122 194 612,
Bugatti Type 35C Tune: 263 353 878

Buggy, buggy
VW Class 5 Baja Bug - used El Barto’s tune. Look it up, it’s a great one.
The first race gave me a little PTSD as it was one of the races from the Buggy Trials that were so difficult. But again, this tune triumphed.

Car in Front
Toyota Celica GT Four - ran ok, won the races, but underwhelming.

PR Stunt Trap
Koenigsegg Regera - first past, East to West, took it easily

PR Stunt Zone
Drove up, ran it twice, hit my mark. Someone here had recommended the RS200 and I am glad they did…has made a number of the zones so much easier.
Ford RS200 Evo
Tune: 926 984 829

PR Stunt Danger Sign
Of course, had to bring out the Gremlin again. I start back where the fork in the road is, then head straight across the field directly toward the ramp. Takes you right between two trees and on to the gravel road. Just gotta make sure not to hit the cart on the left side. I haven’t yet made it completely over the water yet, but that is my goal.
1973 AMC Gremlin X

For the trial (very fun this week), I have tried various cars (camaro, ford capri, cuda) I won in every of this cars but in my opinion the ideal car for this trial is the Holden Torana (best acceleration and very good speed but a little tricky to drive).
In your opinion?

The Torana is a very good car but, looking at current Rivals times for these three courses, there are only top 50 times for it at Reservoir Run (34th and 37th).

In contrast, some of the other 70s options dominate the Rivals boards:

Elan.- top 3 times and 7 of the top 10 at Derwent Reservoir, 13th at Batham Gate and 11th/13th at Reservoir

74 Civic - 3 of the top 4 times at Reservoir, 4th at Derwent and 4th at Batham

Cuda - 3rd and 6th at Batham, 8th at Derwent and 9th at Reservoir.

Well, I did trial many times this week. It would be easier to count cars that I wasn’t using
Most fun: RWD high power AMC Gremlin, Challenger, Jeep Renegade and Renault Alpine. RWD Talbot Sunbeam, Lancia Stratos and Firebird SD-455 wasn’t bad either.
Firebird did have suprisingly much traction for stock tires RWD car.
Weirdest: brick on wheels a.k.a. Scout 800A and Reliant Supervan
I was suprised too be only one too overtake all AI in first race in Reliant. On 2nd and 3rd teammates did better

PS. In one of the trials there was that one guy who likes to ram. But it wasn’t normal rammer, he was doing it on purpose to lose. On first race he pushed me into trees and later two teammates in water at that 90degree left corner after downhill section. In 2nd and 3rd race he was pushing everyone of the road and stoping sideways on corners, so noone can pass. He was trying very hard to make us lose. But I was trying even harder to carry us to win  It was a shame, because it was one of few trials, where everyone had tuned cars and some skill to drive.
It was first time I felt I need to report bad behavior/driving, but I wasn’t able to find his gamertag.

Had the same thing in one of mine. Was a guy in a Scout, I think. Was it a guy named SauceBoss? (Not his whole name in case that is against the rules…let me know) At first I thought he was just a lousy driver, running me off the road, but then I saw him intentionally causing havoc with other drivers. Got past him, but still, bunch of guys in the back of the pack for us.

Some other name. Can’t remember, It was 2 words and bunch of numbers

I used my rally tyre '73 Escort for the Trial. It has a silly amount of grip for B class, so you can do far more of any course at full throttle than is sane. I doubt it would be competitive on the leaderboards, but I think I won 2 races and was 2nd behind a human in the 3rd. Less grip and more speed will probably give faster times for these courses.

Since everyone is talking about different options on trial cars, I did try few and Holden Torana really is fast and has good grip, also Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 is nice, but finally the car I always had good time with - Chevrolet El Camino, Its a bit heavy, but it makes up with raw V8 power :), not to mention it set better times than any other.
So if anyone wants to try them, they all run vintage tires and race suspension:
Chevrolet El Camino, tune - 184 071 283
Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1, tune - 570 080 408
Holden Torana, tune - 198 239 482

On a subject of low life that are in game just to make life difficult for others, just screen shot or even better make a video and off to support with them.

Tried your El Camino and Torana El B. Both are very nice to drive and easily capable of winning the trial. A little off the pace of the Civic though. I tried Batham Gate rivals and ran 2.25 in the Torana and 2.26 in the Camino, so top 20/30 times which is very good, but some distance off the 2.18 I’ve done in the Honda.

So I re-ran the trial 3 more times for a total of four because it was actually fun this week, despite being street scene which can be a bit of a mess, but also to see if the first time was a fluke. I used the Firebird Trans Am SD-455 every time and took 1st place in every single race. Just as a disclaimer, I’m nowhere on the leader boards so I’m not implying that I’m better than everyone, just that I was well suited to this week’s trial. I had one fantastic team that managed to take 4 of the top 5 places in all three races and no one went out of their way to ram me as I made my way through the field.

Overall, I found this weeks playlist pretty enjoyable. I think I’ll go back to the trial again before the season changes and try a different car.

Yeah, I’ve re-run the Trial a couple of times this week as I am enjoying driving my Capri…have won 8 out of the 9 races and the one I didn’t win was because the Chevy Cuda BJ (or whatever the thing is called…the one with the BJ on the end of it’s name) was just too quick. The final race of the third run was weird…only 2 of us for the whole trial and we were 2-0 up so my team-mate didn’t even bother trying…I was like 3rd or 4th when I missed a checkpoint a third of the way through…ended up with a reset after the 5 second timer so was miles behind all the AIs yet somehow managed to still win the race!! Seems if you are at the front the AI are right with yu harassing you but, if all the team are way behind, the AI slow up loads

Thank you Jezza.
Honda, the car I tried to tune few times and nothing unusual came out of it … same this time. With AWD and first tire upgrade, it just matched El Camino times. Without that, its just another slidy useless car for me. :frowning:
