Someone explain how "My Rivals" works

I click on it and it is empty. I imagined it worked like this (from what I remember in FM4);

You beat a rival’s time that the game or you yourself chose on a given rivals event, that rival then gets notified and can return the favor and earn a nice bounty of xp/cr via the “my rivals” section.

I’ve done a fair few rivals events (only the locked to a certain car ones as I prefer a contest of pure skill) but nothing happens.

Is this not how it works then? If not that’s a shame in my opinion.

It’s work just like it work in FH3 difference is that there is so few leaderboards comparing these games. And also many people who like it FH3 rivals mode dont do rivals in FH4.

Thanks for replying. Forsa Horizon 4 is the first Horizon game I’ve played, so I don’t know what it was like in 3 :S

But it sounds as if you’re saying it is how I described it, it’s just there aren’t enough players. If that’s the case, another problem is the fact that on a new rivals event it pits you against a rival with a truly terrible time.

Most of time people come to rivals in FH3 to test cars. FH4 does not allow to test cars, people went away. It’s good to have rivals on same car but it should be an option not a mandatory thing.

An actual improvement would have been to store best score for a car and class. Displaying the tune author along with player name, it would have allowed putting much more interest for people doing tunes, more interest for people fan of rivals, not to forget the possibility to test each car and have some trace of one’s best score for which car.

------ AND PROMOTING CLEAN PLAYING !!!

Until they possibly restore the possibility to test my cars, it is unlikely I will get there.

It notifies you if someone in your friends list beats your time, so you have to add them as a friend. Just choosing a rival from the leaderboard won’t notify them of you beating your time, nor will it notify you if they improve their time and move ahead of you.

Actually, I’m pretty certain it DOES notify a non-friended chosen rival when you beat their time, and vice-versa. Many times I’ve traded rivals back and forth with numerous “acquaintances” known from previous online adventures that are NOT on my friend list (nor do they follow me).

Retracted; Tilo and Breen, you guys were right and I was mistaken. Carry on…

:red_car::blue_car::minibus:… … .

Okay, I’ll take your word for it, I’ve never had a notification about anyone who isn’t in my friends list.

Same as Breeminator , never experienced such even in fh3 for which I have like 200 rivals scores but mostly I consider very up level as rabbits. Only had notifications about people of my friends list having beaten my scores FH4 included.

It only works for ppl in your friendlist, at least that i’ve seen… and i’ve done all the rival events.

Hang on a second people, are you people saying that If I complete a ‘rival race’ pr whatever it is, my mates on my xbox friends list will get a ingame notification that I have beaten a particular time or whatever it is ?

I thought Rivals was broken and never ‘to be’ fixed ?

thanks fa taking to reply (ifyadid) in advance

Rivals works relatively fine now albeit it’s still quite rudimentary. I think it works that if you have a time and one of your friends beats it then you get a notification that they’ve done so. That certainly seems to be the case for me. You can then select that time and be taken straight to that Rivals event.
