So close yet so far.. (Opinions on FM7)

The funny part is that the Horizon series is somewhat still the same, it is meant to be a fun aracde racer in an open world environment where you can just be silly if you like to, or have some nice street racing if you feel like it. This formula works for ‘the masses’ and also for enthusiasts who just want to take a break from all that serious racing.
But FM7 is supposed to be a serious simulator. I feel that with every iteration Turn10 turned (no pun intended) this series into being more and more goofy.

What i am most disappointed with is the numb handling in this game when playing with a controller.
Just yesterday i had a friend over and we played all four current big racing games except iRacing. We played Assetto Corsa, GT Sport, Forza 7 and Project Cars 2.
For each game i put a good amount of time in the past in to find the best settings when using a controller.
After our session yesterday we agreed that our list looks like this

Optics wise

  1. GT Sport/Forza 7
  2. Project Cars 2
  3. Assetto Corsa

Sound wise

  1. GT Sport
  2. Forza 7
  3. Assetto Corsa
  4. Project Cars 2

Handling wise

  1. Assetto Corsa
  2. Project Cars 2/GT Sport
  3. Forza 7 (but quite far away actually from the other three

Content wise

  1. Forza 7/Project Cars 2
  2. Assetto Corsa
  3. GT Sport

Fun factor when actually just driving/racing

  1. GT Sport
  2. Assetto Corsa/Project Cars 2
  3. Forza 7

We have come to the point where people make fake accounts exclusively to criticize the game in the forums.

All I can do is laugh!

Let’s make a list of the pros and cons, shall we?

Pros:

  1. Dampening on the controller is almost perfect. Adapting to Motorsport coming from Horizon was a non-issue. And the calibration of Motorsport is far superior.
  2. Career mode is absolutely fantastic save for the few junk events (Off-Road Buggies for example).
  3. Graphics are almost 1:1 reality especially in the rain.
  4. Sound direction is great. Race cars feel absolutely incredible especially with headphones. Samples not always accurate but those that are make you believe you’re driving the real thing.
  5. AI can be good depending on the cars and tracks you pick.
  6. Car list has way more hits than misses.
  7. Money is easy to get and useful Mod Cards are abundant.

Cons:

  1. Online mode is pretty bad, with long pauses between league events, lack of etiquette and removal of features such as the spectation.
  2. No Storefront.
  3. Introduction of homologation without being able to search for homologated tunes.
  4. AI lacks spatial awareness (though that’s likely a side-effect of Drivatars).
  5. Unintuitive restrictions menu in Free Play, as the AI is sometimes clueless about picking cars for the rules you establish.
  6. Many bugs across different cars.
  7. Introduction of “Forzamon: Gotta Catch’em All!” with features brought from Horizon and expanded upon.

Most honest opinion on the game you’ll ever read.

Some ppl get targeted on the game and crashed out for thier views on here others have been put on permanent post review so dont be so quick to judge

@PapisLeal

There were boards on fm6 that had 5 million hits within the first 6 to 8 months. I think it was an oval in a indy car u could grind credits or infinity. Also rio in the 2017 ford gt the opening race on fm6 had 2 million hits withing the first 6 months. 1 of the biggest signs that fm7 is flop is the complete lack of hits on the official rivals boards even with a unicorn incentive.
