Forza for me is basically just a drifting sim,I played the demo felt that they finally fixed the physics and preordered, so far I’m enjoying it much more than fm6,only issues I have is no user created lobbies and not enough tracks which I already knew wasn’t gonna happen anyway…
It’s okay, no FM4. The only big gripe I have rn is that on PC I crash/freeze a lot, only outside of racing though (paint shop, upgrade shop, menus, etc)
I held off buying FM7 because T10 have the nerve to release a second game on the PC with the very same problems FH3 suffered from at launch: The retail game does not utilize multiple CPU cores, properly. I will check back periodically to see if they eventually patched this like they did with FH3, but even then, I still might not buy the game because…
On top of technical issues, they added gambling to get the chance to add race options / modifiers that were in the original games, and this clearly tells me T10, and MS are all about the cash, but even more so than in previous years.
The only “good” thing about the direction Forza has gone is it is adding to the rising consumer outrage of paying for full price games with mobile transactions that gut the core of the game (make the grind unbearable; take away previously provided options and features; etc). FM7 is one of four AAA games coming out within the same time period (different genres) that are all pushing ridiculous microtransactions and time gate restrictions that are usually found in F2P games at full retail price.
Yep, that’s another thing I keep reading in reviews, is that it has so many things that are usually found in free-to-play games, yet you have to pay to get it…
I did forget to mention how the VIP membership worked (only giving a certain number of bonuses rather than it being permanent) was kind of crappy and doesn’t feel like it’s worth the extra money. But it seems that T10 at least heard the complaints about that and will be fixing that in their next update. I’m happy to see that and hope that this post and the others I’ve seen will get the other things fixed, such as getting rid of the whole homologation thing. I think if they really want to have that in, they could make it so that you get bonus credits for fitting in the class with those stipulations, but you can simply max out your PI if you don’t want the bonus. I wouldn’t mind it if it was optional, but to make it so that your cars now all of a sudden do not qualify for the race is pretty ridiculous…
Same with the loot box system. I wouldn’t mind it if it was all optional, but to have certain cars ONLY accessible through it is pretty dumb. I want to be able to EARN every car I want to buy, not have to roll the dice a million times hoping to get it…
This is the first game I’ve preordered. Ever. And I don’t regret it one bit.
-k
Actually, some of the reviews have slightly increased my desire to get the game. It sounds like the career might have a half decent sense of progression, which has been lacking for awhile in the series. The mods sound more in your face than 6, but still ultimately ignorable. The inevitable tokens don’t sound like they’ll be any worse than usual this time around. And I ignore multiplayer, so…
Kudos to the OP for having a little sense of caveat emptor, though.
I haven’t picked it up either. From what I read about the loot boxes it sounds like another freemium game which is something I refuse to play.
While there is stuff missing (AI drivers in Private Lobbies and so on), the game is otherwise good. Driving feels excellent, there are so many different tracks, cars and the new weather system is amazing.
Carrer mode is very good compared to previous Forza games and car collection tiers remind me of old GT games. It’s a good game. Few patches, return of some basic features and it just might be one of the best Forzas.
This part of the issue though
Why are features removed that were in previous versions, features that made sense, features that the player base enjoyed.
Why is everyone ok with the gutted forza version we have.
Why should we pay for this cash cow to add the features the previous versions had. It’s almost as if turn 10 are waiting for the back lash. If we shout and stamp long and hard enough they will give back the feature with a piece of blurb that they 'hear us, the fans loud and clear’and we have added xx feature to the game now. And you know what, there will be an endless stream of ‘Thankyou turn 10, thanks for adding this feature, you are the best turn10’ posts in these forums.
Well , turn 10 , I didn;t thank you for the change in VIP as that was some shady stunt you were pulling there, you were quite simply trying to rip us off and steal the cash paid for VIP but you were called out. I won;t thank you when you fix the AI as it should not be this bad. I won;t thank you when you actually have a rival system in the game as it should never have been removed, there is absolutely no reason at all for removing it. I wont thank you when multiplayer is not a stock car rally , haha yeah I was joking, multiplayer will never be anything but a stock car rally ![]()
Just stop thanking these thieves when they return features stripped to try to get you to pay for them. YOU paid for the game, these feature and game play mechanics should be in the game, NOT optional extras or something we have to beg for a return so that someone in a turn 10 office can think they did us a favour.
This game is a free to play SCAM pure and simple
I didn’t have to wait for the reviews - as soon as I saw how prominent the Car Collection mechanic was I cancelled my pre-order and then waited to see how my day-1 friends reacted to the release, which was almost uniformly with massive disappointment.
The PC version has massive issues for most people, so that’s enough reason not to buy it.
I have the hard copy of the game but have yet to install it, and this is all because of the feedback on here. I just can’t seem to get excited about it now that its here, the lack of class system and rivals being the main reason, and by all accounts no penalty system in multiplayer, and friction assist also allowed in multiplayer WTH is that about. I just can’t decide wether to go for it or return it.
I used to be very Indecisive but now I’m not so sure.
I’ve played over 10 hours now. I can safely say that the driving and the way physics feel is spot on. Maybe not accurate but feels great, cars have depth, weight and move like what you think they should. I’m noticing the free to play aspects which kinda sucks. Cars are expensive and you are forced to buy cars you really don’t want to buy ones you do. If you are a casual gamer and don’t play much during the week like me, this will be a huge disappointment.
I knew what to expect when I preordered the $100 USD version of this game. I’m aware it’s not a simulator, I am very familiar with the Forza series. The graphics on here are good, sound is good, and overall mechanics are good as well (minus the dumbed down physics, sadly). BUT, the more and more I play this game, the more and more disappointing it becomes. Many people are refunding and returning the game and they are completely right to. Overalll, besides the base mechaincs of this game, all features that made this game what it is (class racing system, rivals, etc) have all been stripped out. They removed class racing for a ‘homologation’ system. It seems as though they did this to make everything more ‘realistic’ and make cars more competetive/on par per division. If they were going for a realism factor, why dumb down the game physics too then? This is a very disappointing game, and I am NOT the type of person to come on a forum to express my concerns, I normally stay quiet and accept whatever the flaws are of each game. With FM7 though, I am very disappointed and very concerned with the state of the game. Yes, they sort of made good with ther VIP members by giving them a little bit of extra CR and a few cars, but that’s it. Everyone is constantly ranting and raving on the forums, on Reddit, and on Twitter to Turn 10. I do genuinely hope that these things get fixed/all the missing features get added back in, but knowing how Turn 10 is, I highly doubt a majority of the features will make a comeback at all. In conclusion, I an very disappointed and concerned with this game. I would not buy this game or recommend it to a friend.
Yep, I really hope Turn 10 and MS are reading these. I am definitely still excited for this game, so will keep reading up on it to see if these things are fixed. I’m sure I’m not the only one who is in my situation. Once they address these issues, then I’ll consider spending my money on it…
I also did not buy the game because I am sick of the broken / cheating AI the Forza series uses. They aren’t “Drivatars”. It’s simple AI with a XBGT attached to it. Hell, Call of Duty: Black Ops did this for the bot training mode in 2010. At least, they were up front about what it was, and… Was not. So, nobody cared because MP is the focus of those kinds of games.
I also believe FM7 has the unfortunate burden of timing as I mentioned in my previous post?
It’s one of several, AAA games being released at the same time that did NOT have this severe level of microtransactions / F2P game mechanics in their previous titles. Consumers and game publications are finally saying, “Enough is enough!” and targeting games like FM7, FIFA2018, Mordor: Shadow of War, etc. and while unfortunate, T10 and MS have only themselves to blame because as has been pointed out by various publications and social media posts… FM7 was designed from the ground up to be a F2P game with a $60 price tag. This is why I refuse to buy it and may just skip it altogether.
All the reviews are good on this game OP. Do you mean from the minority of whining players on this forum over the homo…settings? If so go buy the games - it’s great!
Yeah, I guess, if you consider a 6.4 good:
Or, on PC a 3.9:
Sure, all the paid reviewers are giving it a great score. A guy’s gotta get paid.
I don’t understand why you are so intent on carrying t10s water.
Reviews from those gaming sites are just paid advertising. The real reviews come from the “whiners” who have actually played forza more than 2 hours.
