I was just like you. I mostly played career mode because I would either get wrecked or everyone would kick my ass lol
one thing I can tell you is the only way to prepare yourself for racing with other, more experienced players, is to race with other, more experienced players. Don’t hesitate to jump into a hopper and just go at it.
And if you make a mistake just apologize , MOST players will brush it off. Yoyll also learn your limitations of your skill and your car.
How do you go about apologizing without chat? Is there a way to send a message to another driver within the game? Sorry for the noob questions, but an online noob I am!
Cheers!

A lot of great advice on here. One thing I would add,and maybe someone already mentioned it and I missed it. Download some replays from the top drivers on the leaderboards and watch the lines they use. How you enter and exit a corner can be the biggest difference in lap times. When watching the replays,do so with the telemetry on. You can see how and when they throttle on or how hard they brake, etc.
One other piece of online etiquette. If you do knock someone off the track. And it’s an obvious mistake on your part, not just a stuff happens when racing kind of accident. Pull over and give them their place back. We all want to win,but clean racing is just as important.
Not within the game we just u xbl messages
IMO you’ll get far more bang for your buck by practicing in Rivals than you will against Drivatars. Most of being fast is being fast against the track, while the (important) skills you need to race against other people can only be learned by doing exactly that, you won’t learn 'em against AI.
The biggest jump I ever made in terms of pace was when a few faster mates started exchanging times on one of the leaderboards. I decided to join in and I had to sweat the hell out of it for days to get within a second or so of them, but once I had I found that I had not only gone from a top 20%er to a top 1%er around that track, but I was also so much faster everywhere else too.
Of course getting from 20% to 1% is a hell of a lot easier than getting from 1% to 0.1% or actual LB pace, but I’m probably too old to be worrying about that.
ONR Balou has a good one for the #55 Z4 with a nice and high brake pressure. I normally use EMW IVORBIGUN’s tunes for pretty much every league, his are always nice.
Yea i saw you used his, i made my own it seems pretty good, definitely faster then the random one i used in the lobby the other day.
How fast are people online?
Answer: varies.
Generally my rule of thumb is if you’re able to run a top 150-200 on a track consistently, then you’ll usually be up front. The fastest are usually running around a top 50 on average. If you’re already consistently running around a top 50 you’ll win over 50% of the time and podium 90% of the time.
The thing is you’ll never know what kind of lobby you’ll be in. In this game, most players are running 5-20 seconds off a top 100 time and there may be one pretty good driver in the race who is stomping on everyone.
Single player unbeatable is faster than free play unbeatable.
Single player unbeatable starts to become pretty decent around A to S class. Higher than that the are really quick sometimes. I find Pro is pretty good for some of the race cars. It’s comparable to what you’ll see good drivers doing until you pass the drivatar and they fall back 1,000ft for some unknown reason.
Myself personally I alway race on unbeatable.to be honest if you can just stay on the track for all the laps in a online race you will already be better then 70% of the racers who play online so just focus not making mistakes but my advise would be to learn how to recover quickly cause you will need that skill racing online too.
So I just did some hot lapping around Spa with my stock 2015 Porsche Cayman. I set a fast lap (for me) then loaded a tune from Raceboy77. I then did a few more hot laps and knocked 8, then 10, then 12 seconds off my best lap with the stock car! The braking and grip difference was stunning. About to try online again and see how it goes.
Later the same night - much better online! Of 4 races, 3 were tracks I was unfamiliar with and I still finished in the bottom third. On the track I knew better I finished 8 of 18, so I’m quite pleased, considering before today I was racing alone and finishing last. I didn’t realize what a difference a good tune could make.
I also discovered what a crashfest the middle of the pack can be. Still, I’m looking forward to more online racing!
Cheers, and thanks to all who gave me advice!

This also means you will start closer to the front.
