Hello everyone like in a tittle i go an old sidewinder force feedback wheel usb (wich still work perfectly on game like ES2 etc … ) so i was thinking : “Hey i will be awsome if i play Forza with my steering wheel !”
And then my madness come …
So before everything the game is running Smoothly in ULTRA 60FPS no drop no lag or nothing when i play with my controllers.
Then when i put my steering wheel and launch the game my hell begin … the game rune at like 20FPS in menu i think and when i go into a race im block at 17.9 FPS
The steering wheel itself work really good but this FPS man …
So if anyone have a solution or fix i will be glad to hear them
PS: no i dont want to buy another steering wheel its maybe old but its still work perfectly so why should i change ?
I can confirm this issue. FM7 is running at 60+ fps. As soon as I configure the Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel as an input FM7 runs at 17.9 fps :(.
Rumble does work. I’m not so sure about the force feedback.
I’ve tried the FH4 demo: No fps issues (60+ fps) with the Sidewinder Wheel but rumble/force feedback doesn’t work.
The wheel does work perfectly in other games, e.g. Assetto Corsa.
OS: Windows 10 1803, 64-bit
Just bought FM7 yesterday, and I’m having the exact same issue. I have an old (OLD) microsoft sidewinder wheel, but it works great. Have used it with many other games throughout the years, the most recent being BeamNG.drive, and it’s always worked great. As soon as I program it into FM7 as a “custom input”, my framerate goes from about 120+ down to 11.7fps. Perhaps even weirder, it seems to be almost locked to that 11.7fps number, regardless of graphics settings or what’s on the screen.
Rig is pretty new, Ryzen 5 1600, 16 gb ram, GTX1060, solid state drive. It may not be top of the line, but it’s a solid machine.
I have tried a couple of emulators with limited results. Forza Emuwheel 1.3.1 works, but I have to map it as a custom controller, and the frame rate still drops to about 17fps. Have also tried Xoutput with X360CE to fool it into thinking it’s a 360 controller. It works, but the lack of the Dpad makes the game unplayable, as it thinks the Dpad is in the full up position. It cycles through menus and changes the view on it’s own during racing. But hey, at least the frame rate is 120.
I’m still looking for a solution. Not sure why it’s even an issue. I know it’s an old wheel, but the inputs are still recognized, so it seems like it should work. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi,
Same problem here but i’d investigated with 2 computers and 2 different Sidewinder.
Conclusion :
EDIT***** Killing this process just make FFB stop working, but unconnect USB of the wheel is more simple now as i know that Sidewinder FFB wheel was the FPS problem**********
- If i kill the process “Runtime Broker” in Forza process, my FPS are good again but i lose the force feedback. Force Feedback problem ?
EDIT After retry, DP don’t resolve the problem… I don’t know why i didn’t need to kill the process to get my FPS back the first time i tried DP*********
"- I tried to connect my screen with Display Port and there is no FPS bug. The problem is with HDMI only ? Maybe conflict with Forcefeedback and HDMI ? "
I continue to investigate…
Message to Microsoft :
Your wheel have a rate problem with force feedback.
A lot of people continue to use it because it was a very good wheel. But it need a software like EMUwheel to have more buttons because there is a lot of NECESSARY buttons (more than 8) in FORZA.
Why Anna Is necessary button ? i don’t know. Why chating is necessary, i don’t know. But so… Maybe you want to say us : Your 17 years old wheel have only 8 buttons and now you need 10 buttons ! Change your wheel !
No, Emuwheel can solve that by fusionning Xbox pad buttons with the wheel : thx to developpers.
(Emuwheel + Vjoy)
Some people said that This wheel have FPS problems in a lot of new games. But on the game “THE CREW”, someone founded a solution to get it work well :
They change the option FFB_wait_rate in the configuration file of the game. Dafault was 1 but 6 appear to work good. Why 6 ? Some peple said 300hz / 6 = 50hz make work it good.
There is no options like that in FORZA !?
So the Microsoft Wheel work better in a non Microsoft games than in a Microsoft game ! Why ?!
I was happy to see my wheel driver was back on W10 because it didn’t work on W7. But we need more configuration here. This 17 years old wheel is not dead ! Please update it !
Emuwheel have a configuration file for force feedback. I’ll try to change some parameters to see if i can get it work. I tryed to untick somme FFB parametters in Vjoy : i saw than untick the parametter “sine” or “damper” have an effect but it need more precise options. Maybe Emuwheel FFB options can modify that rate… I’ll try.
If not, there is some option in regedit, i’ll try some modifications here but it’s harder to understand.
