The new mad katz looks bad in my opinion. The dor is limited to 270 or 900. I see no upgrades planned for a clutch pedal setup or shifter. To each there own mad katz have never been big into racing sim wheels if there wheel was half the cost maybe worth it go with a company that makes quality wheels and supports them down the line.
I have to agree the Thrustmaster is the way to go if you are wanting one right now. Wait and see does not work for me and the thrustmaster is better than my old PWTS in every regard except pedals… its quieter, absolutely 0 notchiness from the belt drive, doesn’t have a bazillion settings you can’t understand without the manual, and it has stronger force feedback at 65% than the PWTS at full. I’ll admit I am not a fan of the 458 rim, its odd shaped around the 9- 3 position and is cluttered with plastic bits, but I’ve grown used to it, and its replaceable with the GTE rim.
The madcatz does not cut it with me because of the 900/270 selectable settings only, I use 900 for every production car in the game and switch it to 540 for the race cars. 270 is next to impossible for me in the Lotus E21, one would have to be able to turn the steering to the exact degree without going past or else enjoy the spin cycle smoke show. Its probably worth noting that the madcatz is a pretty sexy device, those pedals look very nice… sometimes that matters to folks.
My bottom line, I’m on my second TX… first one was pretty much DOA. I gave Thrustmaster a second chance and I’m glad I did because the way this wheel drives feels excellent.
Wheels rock. There’s simply no comparison between the two game experiences. The only problem at the moment is the lack of choice… There’s a lot of former wheel users out there going cold turkey right now. I would do like Ridin SIdeways suggests and hold off for a while, but there are worse ways of blowing disposable cash than on a tx. Pity about the pedals though.
Like Mick said, wheels rock! Will one make you a better driver? Maybe,it did for me,i am so used to the wheel now that i suck using the controller and as Don Ente said it is much more immersive playing with the wheel.
You may want to look in to building your own rig if your handy. If you google simul8ter rig build pvc. A lot of people are using his rig design for around 200 bux you cant go wrong. The tx wheel is a great wheel I believe its basically just a t500 with cheaper pedals and wheel. But all of those can be replaced. I love my wheel and got it while it was on sale for 320. I have had to get two replacement bases from thrustmaster they do have some kind of issues my new one I received is a lot better then the last 2 I could tell a difference the day I hooked it up the last ones seem to run hot and if you leaved them plugged in after turning console off the fan would always run. The new one doesn’t do that. It will take getting use to just stay with it you will be better after a day or two. I would recommend 360 dor and normal steering simulation steering isn’t the best.
“Hello XXX, thanks for your message and sorry for the late answer. For the potential new Fanatec wheel for Xbox One we cannot confirm a launch date yet. As soon as we have more information about this matter we will post it on our facebook site and on our blog www.911wheel.com. Thanks in advance for understanding. Fanatec_Gameshop

First I would like to thank you (again) for waiting so patiently. This is just a quick update on the status of the new CPX adapter. The boards arrived today and so far everything has gone together well. I am currently testing the adapter and working on coding. I hope to send out another update soon with further details. As always, thank you for your interest in my products.
Sincerely,
Jon
This adapter will allow the Fanatec Club Sport pedals to be used with the TX wheel. I have both the CSRE (CS pedals and shifter in a cockpit) and the TX on a Fanatec wheel stand. As soon as I can get my hands on this adapter my CSRE base is coming off the cockpit. I think the addition of the CS pedals to the TX wheel will help tremendously with consistent braking and will contribute to better lap times.
I don’t understand why people have problems with the 270 setting on the wheel. Learning to drive with this setting enables quicker response times. I learned to race with the shorter rotation in F1 2012 where I matched it to the cockpit wheel’s rotation which was around 190. I wish the I could have 190 back for the Lotus. It messes with my head on hairpins when my in cockpit wheel stops and I still have to turn my wheel.
The CPX adapter will be sold on a first come first served basis - I sure hope I’m awake when Jon sends the next update email - I’m desperate for it!!!
Also, I use 270 setting on F1 2012 / 2013, but always run on 360 in Forza. What I love about the Fanatec is the ability to configure the wheel itself and ACL. I’m hoping that Thrustmaster include ACL in a future firmware update.
BTW, I’m sure this thread should be in the new hardware sub section.
It does allow you to be more precise, therefore on straight and corners also it’s easier to place the car the way you
want. Compare the wheel to a thumbstick and it it’s clear you will have a more steadier dispence of steeringposition.
If you just started a trustmaster is the way to go, anything more advanced or
professional and you should wait for a fanatec system or something like that.
Trustmaster on the other hand is expandable with other wheels which is awesome
if you want to steadily upgrade. Kinda depends on how much you want to spend.
Thank you all for your opinions/experiences on this. I purchased my Thrustmaster wheel, as well as a stand. Let me tell you, my fiance wasn’t exactly happy with me spending ~$700 like that…whoops.
The wheel should hopefully arrive today, stand on Monday. That’s not going to stop me from trying it out though.
The wheel is fantastic. I had a very hard time with it at first, mostly becuase the stand hadn’t come in yet, and I was using a makeshift stand using a party table (barely worked). Stand came in and was setup yesterday, which works amazingly. Only gripe I have with it is the way the pedals are. It feels like a weird reach when I try to go from gas to brake, causing me to have to use my left foot for braking…feels weird.
The only thing I would add is that I highly recommend getting the GTE wheel for it. The 458 wheel it comes with feels super cheap, while the GTE feels more like an actual car wheel. For me, it made a huge difference in immersion and it’s also slightly heavier which aids with control.
That said, my first TX wheel decided to die the other day. When I turned it on for some practice laps, had a league race that day!, it caused the circuit breaker for this room to trip. When I reset that and came back to try again, the base would not turn on and there was a burning smell coming from near the hub of the base. I’ve contacted TM about it and hopefully I’ll get a replacement base soon. It worked from Dec 11 until the other day without a single problem, though.
I would wait the tx is priced way too high. The base is the only good part of the tx everything else feels cheap. I bought the T500rs with shifter for $500 and it’s way higher quality for $100 more. The tx with the addons 3 pedal set, shifter will cost more than the T500rs which is crazy.Thrustmaster tx should of came with a usb to 8 pin adapter so people that bought the th8rs shifter could use it with the tx base and not force you to buy a new shifter because they had to change the connector. This is the biggest plus with fanatec all there older accessories work with all newer wheels.Fanatec are coming out with a new wheel soon hopefully its for xbox one. I have to warranty my csw motors and they said it would be a 2 month delay and when i email to ask why the delay they said it was because there working on a new wheel. I bought the tx because I could play using the controller way to sensitive and with no option to adjust the sensitive making drifting way harder than it should be. This could be fix by changing the steering setting to normal but then it would feel like the game was steering for me making it not rewarding for drifting. I still find the drifting hard with the game set to sim steering using the tx it’s still overly sensitive but for racing its fine. I rma the tx 3 times, wheelbase shaft had a huge amount of play , clicking noise while turning the wheel, dead pcb board these warranty issues surprised me because I’ve never had a problem with the T500rs and I have the first version. The tx wheel has some issues still that need to be worked out I think it would be smart to wait to these are fixed and there no the only wheel available and hopefully a big price drop.
