should I buy Xbox One Edition of FH2?

Hi all,

just after some input, I have played all the Forza titles from 2 to 5 and whilst I found FH1 fun for a few hours it got stale quite quickly.

I have just re-visited the FH2 demo after calibrating my new Samsung 48 inch led and some of the scenery is quite breathtaking and also the thought of seeing these glorious machines in the rain and at night is tantalising.

However, I am still reluctant to buy the game based on the fact that in the demo as soon as I started tearing across the fields in the first point to point race I thought this is too silly (I am a sim racer at heart) I just want some honest opinions from anyone who is more sim orientated as to whether there is more to this game than just tearing around aimlessly in any direction. Does it hold your interest and are the physics any where near as good as FM5. I know they are ‘tweaked’ as this game is more arcade orientated but is the core handling still there. Just don’t want to buy the full game and then have it sat on a shelf (as was the case with FH1) cheers

I personally prefer circuit racing, but Forza Horizon 2 on the Xbox One is “different” and pretty enjoyable for the time I get to actually play.

FH2 X1 takes away the “purity” of racing, since you get points or whatever for running over scooters, planters and even knocking down light poles and stop signs, but for the entertainment cost, there are many hours of fun included.

To each his/her own, but it is more of the entertainment/participation than setting “track” records or worrying about exact Tunes for different circuits because of the terrain and unexpected elements.

“The purity of racing”. I can agree with that…but the purity of driving? Haha, well. Not that I want to run into scooters in real life. But I love the option of doing it in the game. More so, I also still avoid them mostly unless I feel like trashing around.
This game fills the void I would get when I played the Gran Turismo series on friends’ Playstations. Forza has a good thing going with the Horizon series as well as offering the racer sims in Forza motorsports. While I will pick up Forza 6…it will really just be to pass the time until I hear of a Horizon 3 in the works. The Horizon series are my driving games; a mix of sim and fun.
Though I respect the true simulation racers.

I enjoy Forza Horizon 2 and I would get it again if I had to go around a second time.

Doing all the championships may seem like sort of a grind, and it is, but lots of fun can be had without completing the all. There is much to do and I enjoy it.

Hard to say if you’ll like it or not, personally I think the core handling of it is fairly close to F5’s even if a tad more arcady due to what the game is all about.

To put it differently, you’ll certainly have an advantage going from F5 to FH2 as compared to someone going from NFS Underground to FH2.

I have played all the Forza’s and I like it (apart from some of the grinding in forced driving here and there), but I also liked the original Horizon so I suppose I’m the wrong guy to ask even if I do like chasing lap times in the Motorsport’s I did get the Xbone due to FH2 being officially announced…

You don’t have any friends that own it so you can play it a bit more and get a proper feel of the game in its entirety?

If you like open world games then it’ll appeal to you, the handling has been made easier than in fm5 so it shouldnt take too long to get used to it, its not perfect but its certainly close. Alot more freedom than in fh1 and worth a purchase

Yes get it…and get the deluxe edition…youll save money on the dlc that way.

I would like to know the exact same thing. I can cope with the slightly more arcade style handling (I don’t mind GTA) but taking super cars and racing them over fields is just daft.

I just picked it up and have been playing it the past couple of days. I was like you guys. I didn’t like the demo arcade style racing and prefer simulation racing, but I played the first Horizon and knew what to expect. However, this one feels better than the first. It is also a beautiful game. It just plays well and is enjoyable. The demo doesn’t do it justice.

Personally, I think Horizon 2 on the Xbox One is awesome. Love it, in particular the Storm Island expansion. Bought my first Xbox One and FM5 when Horizon 2 was announced. Even bought a second copy when we bought a second Xbox One for the kids. Then again, you really can take a supercar and plough through a field, so it is kind of silly in part compared to FM. In large part, though, you don’t have to do anything you find too silly. Just because you can do certain things doesn’t mean you have to. Just stick to the roads (few necessary exceptions excluded) and enjoy. That said, if you really didn’t like Horizon, chances are you don’t like Horizon 2 much either. If you’ve got money to burn, just try and see, otherwise, give it a try once you can find a reasonably cheap copy.

Well thanks for all the responses guys, guess what, I caved in and after all the feedback bought the full game. I have to say after an initial mmmm its okay… I am now loving the game. Only completed a few races but even the off road field hopping ones are a blast if a little daft!

The handling yep is more forgiving than FM5 but having purchased a Supra for my first car, slapped on twin turbos dropped the suspension, hey presto that back end just wants to kick out and keep me on my toes so I am a happy camper :0) I would love to go on but need to get back to the game as I am waaaaaay behind you all!!!

What are the differences between the Xbox 360 version and the Xbox One version anyway? I know about the weather effects, the DLC, and the wheelspins. Is there anything else?

in my mind if you have an Xbox One and you like racing games, Horizon 2 and Forza 5 are must buys… they are console sellers

strangely they are diametrically opposite games, FH2 has mass appeal and is probably the best racing game of this generation

Forza 5 is the most dry structured rigid but accurate race simulator of this generation

both are relastically priced so low you’d be dumb not to get them

after black friday and xmas the market is flood with pack ins no one wants

I would. The scenery alone makes it awesome. Even if the races seem silly, cruising around the world in a fav car is more than worth it.

Had another blast last night, didn’t even complete any races just had a ‘drive’ around. The scenery is amazing my only annoyance was in free roam as it starts to get dark, I thought great some night time cruising to be had and then before I could blink it was dawn again and the sun was coming up. I wish you could adjust the day night cycle speed :frowning: so you can make it stay dark for longer. Still, loving the game and glad I made the purchase.

I prefer day-time driving but that is an interesting thought. I would enjoy night driving if it was a bit lighter…ie “full moon” for better visuals at night? Maybe I need to readjust my video settings.

the way i look at it, a new game like this is an experience you should enjoy to the full

i have a 360 but i would never get the 360 version

i would save up for an xbox one and then get the xbox one version, why punish yourself with the inferior version? i’d rather do without even if i had to save up a year for it

At the end of the day it’s a fun game to have fun in. Which it’s good to see that you are. =P
