Should I buy this game?

I feel a bit disappointed but the game has potential. It’s good but there are so many bugs and glitches and many cars have worse sounds than before (LaFerrari is a good example). Still, you get 700 cars and that’s a huge reason to get this game, there is so much to choose from.

I play with a G920 just fine and post times in the top 1% with no assists but you do need to adjust settings and use normal steering instead of sim. I wouldn’t recommend buying the game though. It’s riddled with issues. You can deal with many of the little issues but the biggest is the absolutely terrible AI. The AI in this game are slow and stupid. I play on unbeatable with no assists and after 3 laps of almost any track, the AI just get left in the dust. Every race in single player just becomes a hot lapping event as the AI can’t keep pace. Also, they have no perception around them and will just turn into you for no reason at all when you go to pass them under braking or even just running two wide in a turn.

Another equally big issue is multiplayer. Sure you may be able to “collect” over 700 cars but you can only race about 60 of them online. There is no longer class hoppers for each class so you can forget about tuning up your favorite car the way you like and racing against others online. You now have a very narrow choice of cars and are very limited on what you can do to them. It becomes very stale and boring when everyone realizes which one of the 6 or 7 cars is best and runs the same car in a hopper.

So while the game looks great and the driving is great, the competition and racing aspect of Forza Motorsport is an extreme let down.

If you’re better than over 99% of the players using this game then no wonder the AI does not challenge you. I’m usually top 20 to top 50 and the higher level AI is plenty difficult for me. My biggest issue with it is that they have a tendency to crash into you.

Can anyone under the age of 30 make a decision for themselves here? Yeah go buy it… does that settle it for you? Or dont buy it? Does that settle it?

If you’ve already got Forza 6 it’s a tricky question to answer. Forza 7 should have been Forza 6 with more content (cars and track - which it has) a slightly more believable dynamic weather system where you’re not constantly starting races at sunrise with too many dark areas. It should have brought over all the features of FH3, like the basket system when upgrading and blueprinting. And there should be ramps on the tracks for trophy truck races like they do IRL.
You can’t test drive in the rain.
You can’t buy most of the wide body cars, you can’t put racing tyres with sidewall writing on them like you could in FH3 and the drag racing is worse than it was in FM6.
On the standard Xbox One FM6 looks better than FM7.

I’d wait and see what happens to the game. See it they tweak the time of day settings. See if they add back the class system, see if they add some decent rivals events and sort out drag racing. It’s no where near as good as FM7 could have been for the Xbox One but it was apparently “Built from the ground up for Xbox One X” and as a result, apart from an interesting approach to the career mode - the homologation system (which shouldn’t have completely replaced the class system but it has). Rivals mode is minimal and you can’t test drive on drag strips.

It’s hard to tell if some of these changes are deliberate or a bit of an oversight. Let’s hope they were in a rush, having “rebuilt the game from the ground up” for the new X and these issues can be changed. A lot of the issues should be patchable easily enough but I do regret buying the ultimate edition as I am still spending as much time on FH3 and FM6 as I do on FM7… but then I am a Rivals junkie, I love tuning, tweaking, more tweaking and climbing the leaderboard. Only then do I go to multiplayer.

Furthermore, a lot of the best cars are stuck in a lottery of loot crates which is disgraceful in a franchise like Forza. We pay for car passes so we have access to all the cars in the game - base game + dlc and now there are loads that are locked out from everyone.

And you can’t super tune your car up to the class of your choice because of the homologation system. Then with other cars it’s the other way: The Lotus Elise mk2 is now a track toy and has to tuned up to S750 to be eligible to race. A&B class wer perfect for the mk1 and mk2 respectively.

If you were expecting FM6 with better weather options, better drag racing, multiplayer and rivals events, more wide body customisation, Porsche in from the beginning and all the menu refinements and new ideas that FH3 brought to the franchise then although it might look like that on paper i’m afraid the game as a whole just really misses the mark. Add in loot crates, moody/dark lighting and a horrible soundtrack and questionable in-game economy and I wish i’d waited for a second hand copy in the new year.

No. The game is still busted and lacking a ton of multiplayer features as well as a terrible car lock system. I’d skip it or wait until its extremely cheap. Get 6 or something. Plenty of us have migrated back.

Just get FM6

I don’t think the question is whether or not you should just buy FM7 but whether or not you should buy any new racing games that have been recently released.

To that my answer is most likely no unless you want to take the risk. Buy older games that are better IMO.

Never before if somebody asked me if they should get this game, I would’ve told them no. I would’ve said got a few bug and kinks, but i’m glad I bought it…

Yesterday, my game save got reset. Driver Level: 262, Collector
Tier: 28, Cars Owned: 318, 10d 9h 47m of playing time is gone, like a fart in the wind. Unless they somehow recover my file and fix it. Sadly, this can happen to anyone reading this.

So now, if I’m asked… I tell them what happened to me and ask them if they still want the game.

I’m thinking about getting FM6 too. FM7 is a disappointment. The worst thing is that I already had it, sold it hoping FM7 will be good and now I would be getting it back for more than I made from selling as I can’t find used copies in my city and shipment would make the cost same as new game. Also wouldn’t be getting any dlc other than Porsche which I bought back when having the game so I would be short in content sadly. Why couldn’t FM7 just be FM6 with more cars and dynamic weather. Why did they have to mess up car sounds, multiplayer and much more…

Absolutely DO NOT buy this game. Forza, while at one time was at the top of racing sims for consoles, is now a poor excuse for a driving “game”. It’s mind-boggling that you have to pay $60 and not be able to drive any car you wish. It’s become very “arcadish” and there hasn’t been any groundbreaking features or improvements since FM2. Stop giving Turn 10 your hard earned money. I stopped years ago. You want a good racing sim? Try Project Cars 2. While it’s not bug free, SMS and Ian Bell are working vigorously to fix any problems they have and continually give us updates on their progress. No one cares about the color of their helmet or fire suit. No one tells you what cars you CAN’T drive as they’re all unlocked. There are more tracks than you can imagine. No loot boxes or booster packs or whatever gimmick FM7 has brought around this time. Just good racing.

Sorry but there is no patch since release of Project Cars 2. It is the same unplayable trash like the first day. You have to bee an Engineer and F1 Pilot in one Person to hanlde the Cars. The game is no better than Forza 7

Not to get into an argument but my PC2 had an update recently with quite a few fixes. I am not sure if it made it any more playable for some but it was patched. Although I don’t exactly agree with the statement you were answering to either. FM7 is not that bad and T10 are working on fixes. Some of the other objections are sour grapes and ppl getting their knickers in a twist over minor stuff.

I would personally say it’s not worth buying. FM7 is the worst iteration so far. You would be better getting FM6 which you should be able to get cheaply now.
I have bought Project Cars 2, I had bought FM7 ultimate but it’s so bad I have ended up with less than 20 hours play time on it. I will not touch another Forza game after this version. Such a let down and yet another rushed game to release for an Xbox console. FM5 was rushed for the XB1 and now FM7 for the XB1X.

Project cars 2 offers so much more and so far is just about the racing, nothing else which is how it should be.
