Should I buy the Xbox One X when I have a 1080P tv?

You can downsample on PC as necessary. So you can still have 4K rendered, downsampled to 1080p. Providing you have the hardware to do so, of course.

Yes, you should. Stallion83 , or whatever his tag is, did a video on the 1x hooked up to a 1080p tv compared side by side to a 1S , and the supersampling alone does it far better justice than the 1S alone. Not to mention the faster load times with the 1X as well.

So yes, get a 1x even if you only have a 1080p tv

This assumes that the aliasing is somehow terrible on the standard machine’s version. It’s not. 500 euros for some down sampling, slightly smoother edges and details you’ll struggle to see improved upon at 1080p is pretty insane. If you haven’t bought the 4K TV yet why get the console first? Put the money towards the TV surely!

The load times are also only a bit better because the test will only be comparing internal hard drives. A good external drive connected to a stock Xbox One can speed up loading times dramatically. So if you install Forza 7 on an external drive plugged into an original machine it’ll likely be just as fast as Xbox One X at loading. It’s something you can improve on the base machine and many people already have unwittingly.

On the other hand, what good is a 4k TV if you dont have any 4k content to put on it?

It’s like the 360 and HDTVs, the two kind of went together. At least if you get a XboneX you also get a 4k blueray player as well.

Yes OP, it is worth it. The Xbox One X has a 4k downscaling/supersampling option for 1080p screens. Every game you play on it will look better from the downscaling even on 1080p (including all of the Forzas).

There are also many photo comparisons out there showing Original Xbox one vs Xbox One X, both in 1080p. You can always get this, accept the overall better performance AND better graphics/textures when using it on 1080p until you get a 4k TV/Monitor in the future. I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed.

Um ok, you read the specs and still wondering if it’s worth the purchase? What they have listed can easily play the game without any issue with extra features enabled for a better experience. And it will be better in 4K for the consoles, it’s not that hard to see. Dust is right to a point but he’s still a pc elitist even when he denies it. The hdd is a hybrid drive from the x1 elite which is not a surprise. For the specs provided it’s a steal only problem is it’s still not upgradable. Maybe if senseless threads weren’t created, senseless posts won’t be posted, ever think about that? It’s a beefier piece of hardware that can take more processes with ease, I think it can run a lower res without any issues but hey what do I know right, nor is the almighty and everyone else ain’t smart enough for there own good.

Yes, its true, if OP (me) had not started this “senseless” thread I would not have gotten your senseless reply.

Specs dont say anything, experiences do, so thats what I asked for, not smartass replys.

Sell your actual XBOX-ONE and put the rest of the money

At 1080 you will play a 60 FPS most of the times. In my opinion xbox-x is a NERF instead of a upgrade

4k 30 FPS shadow mordor
4k 30 FPS asssasin creed origins
4k campaing&Horde gears of war 4

Paying 1000 dolars for a 4k HDR TV and 500 on the console to play 30 FPS is insane lol!

On PC with a 1070 GTX i can play 1080 144hz multiplayer titles and 4k 60 fps the above titles

4k downsampled to 1080p doesn’t look anywhere near as good as native 4k, that and the fact you play on a TV not a monitor (which means you sit several meters away from the screen) means you will see very, very little improvement on the image quality, and that improvement costs 500 bucks. Unless you are getting a 4k screen soon I wouldn’t recommand the ONE X for now.

I agree, it doesn’t look as good. But 1080p on the original XB1 looks much worse compared to 1080p (downscaled 4k) on XB1 X . OP will still recieve a gain in picture quality when using 1080p on the new Xbox which can last him until he gets a 4k monitor for an even better experience.

I’m in similar situation as original post. I’d love to hear feedback from someone with the X on a 1080p TV too.

Main reason for not going to 4k TV for me is because I like 3D blu rays and 4K TV’s don’t seem to support 3D.

My main reason is that my full hd tv is only two years old and in perfect nick. Hard to explain at home why we need to spend 1500eu on a LG OLED…

I never said spending that much on a PC was worth it, I just corrected your statement that a PC like that would “cost the same as 5 Xbox One Xs”. Keeping a PC working well is a lot cheaper and easier than a lot of people think.

I have no problem with people preferring to play their games on a console, it’s their choice and it does work better for some people.

If you want a 4K TV you don’t need to buy an OLED.

Wait for a White one!! - you know itll come eventually

Some will say yes and some no, I can understand you asking for advice but at the end of the day its your money and ultimately your decision.

I have the first Xbox One. Forza 7 looks 100 Times better on my 4K Samsung TV which I got a week ago than it did on the 1080p… I will be picking up the One X from GameStop in about two hours from now.

Update: Forza looks much better with the X and 4K Samsung TV. Just make sure to enable Game Mode and calibrate the picture according to Xbox. Max out the backlight too

Nice :+1:

After sleeping on it, it may well be worth it. After all, I bought a new processor and GPU (not as much as an XB1X) for better performance, but still haven’t upgraded my 1920 x 1080 monitor yet, even though my hardware is capable of more…

So theoretically at least, the One X would give a performance boost to your gaming, with better frame rates and smoother appearance. I guess it comes down to personal choice, but for the small gain in performance and visuals, $500 would be too much for me personally. I’d probably spend it on a better TV. With a lot of online services and TV providers broadcasting 4K content, you’d get more for your money. If you’re planning on getting a 4K TV further down the line, then the XB1X would be a sound investment, if not though, perhaps your money would be better spent elsewhere, imho of course.

Confused here.
Why not just downsample on the PC if thats all you are going to do on One X…

Xbox live Gold is also free on PC… Savings galore!
