only need the ranked mp which requires absolutely no skill on the players behalf and is broken beyond belief and frustrating to find a game in and barn finds which are glitched percentage wise in the tracker and based on the seasons changing so not up to me but will have the completion in just around 40 hours … wow … i have lego games that took me longer to complete than this game … what happened?? and its not like the quality is higher here, its the same if not less so than the other horizon games to be honest … all the circuits are less than 1 minute jokes except the actual long races you unlock at lvl 10 and 20 for the road not sure if this goes for the dirt and cross country as i couldnt be bothered to redo the minuscule amount of races in the cross country to see if you get something at lvl 20 of that… the story missions were cool but honestly just little side things that take about 4 minutes a piece and rank as kinda meh to me personally … the pr stunts are just more of the same but at least they had the common sense to ghost traffic in the zones which made them all the easier IMO minus 3 drift zones i didnt have to try any of them more than a handful of times… where is the content tho? in the mp? does the weekly championships that take place on the exact same courses you’ve already done before supposed to fill a gap? are the trivial forzathon things at the top of every hour supposed to be anything other than a gag for a few times ? like what am i supposed to be doing in this game? it just seems so bare and empty with the content …
Blueprints don’t make racing the same tracks more interesting. The main problem here is track design (I think only Greendale Club is a great track) and the AI. I am not even having trouble against expert AI anymore.
I still have quite a few races to do. And we’re allegedly getting the Route Creator by the end of the month, which will open up a whole world of race possibilities.
It feels shorter because you’re more skilled at the game than the average newbie, so you know how to exploit the events.
Myself, as soon as I acquired the FD cars and won a Bugatti Chiron, I already had all the tools at hand to complete the game. Beyond that, it’s the same as FH3, really, just a mindless grind to acquire more and more content. In FH3, I finished Blizzard Mountain and Hot Wheels in one day each.
The premise that sells the Horizon franchise is not the 100% completion, but the social interaction. The userbase is that of a typical arcade game, which means the social aspect is not high quality. Go read the comments in Don Joewon Song’s videos for example: it’s mostly kids.
Technically any racing game has an unlimited amount of content, but I get what the OP is getting at. Many gamers like to have goals to work towards in game. Some people are great at creating their own fun in a sandbox, and this game provides lots of tools for that (and will provide even more with the route creator when its ready), but there’s not much progression outside of the prologue and what little progression there is can be completed very quickly unless you want to grind for expensive cars and castles.
FH2 and FH3 had a large number of events to work through to fully complete the game (28 different championships at each festival location for FH2, 63 exhibitions and championships in FH3 plus showcases and bucket lists), but FH4 only has 70 exhibition events and only very limited seasonal championships. Hopefully we’ll get championships at each exhibition location like in FH3, but right now the game progression path is much, much shorter than it was in the past.
Hasn’t even been out a week,. We haven’t seen Spring or Winter yet. It seems very clear to me that this is a game that will see new additions on a weekly basis for awhile.
Regardless, it’s a racing game, there is no “done”…
In Horizon 2 and 3 for my playstyle you are correct there was no “done” because they had intriguing, limitless and open ended endgame options. In those games you could attack the leaderboards on every track in every class and every car. In those games you could pit your individual skills and builds against the human players in solo (non-team) in online competition. In Horizon 4 you don’t have that freedom. The endgame via leaderboards and online is DICTATED to you. You must do rivals in what the developers want you to. You must race team only online with no choice of car class.
This directly effects my playstyle as it revolves entirely around open ended rivals and solo online play with class choice. So yeah for guys like me the game is already over. The huge sandbox of do what you want, when you want is gone now.
All they need to do is track what place you got in what difficulty and record time trial laps for each car type/class. Endless replayability. The same simple thing every car game has.
There are plenty of courses here compared to other car games but you get a gold completed just for participation so no incentive to keep playing.
The game is not even a week old. They are adding new cars to the game weekly for the next six months. They are adding new events, races, challenges, etc. every week for even longer than that. To the OP who claims the game is too short … you have not even seen the entire base game yet … let alone the additional content to be added over the next six months plus.
As others have mentioned … the focus of this game is not to complete everything once as quickly as possible and then put it away. It’s a game designed to be a social online experience to enjoy for months and years in multiple ways with friends and other random players.
Well, the new events thing is a scam. They are no new events, they are just championships of existing events. They removed the championship mechanic from FH3 to add it in as part of “new” seasonal events. One step forward, two steps back.
Wrong … assuming the devs do what they have said they will do. There are new events being added with every change of the seasons that are not there in previous seasons … according to the devs. Obviously we cannot confirm that yet as we have not had the game through all the initial seasons yet. So no, they are not just re-hashing the same events over and over as different championships.
You think if they had new events they would already re-use existing events in week 1 and 2? Come on. We have had already one season change that clearly did not include new events. Worse, it already re-uses tracks that were used in the summer seasonal events, so it’s not even cycling through all the 70 events that exist for the 18 that are needed for the seasonal championships.
Don’t know what to tell you guys whose ‘playstyle’ dictates that you only play and enjoy a portion of the game’s content. Too bad you can’t enjoy all of the game as the developers intended you to enjoy it.
I guess we’ll see you guys later as you move on from this game after 5 days. Goodbye …
