Cause real car is like that. and when stop a car, we can stop a car completely without shifting to Reverse directly.
I think they should add a feature that allows you to shift from neutral to reverse and neutral to drive for people who want to shift but not every gear.
What do you mean?
Ingame, if you’re near full stop and double tap downshift the car will be set on reverse. A single tap would put you at 1st gear
I was about to write a suggestion about this cause in too many cases your speed go down but the gear doesn’t and you need to downshift to keep up in the race but you can’t.
I really need this feature.
There should be a sim mode for transmissions so all auto cars in the game have P-R-N-D-S as gears instead of 1-6 or how many gears they have. With automatic uoshifts to highest gear in D when you release the throttle and kickdowns when you apply full throttle.
I hade some automatic replicas for my cars with the 4-spd drift box and it’s fun to try and simulate an AT yourself like that.
That’s a nice idea but with long gear you loose acceleration and there’s a lot of races where you an elevated road where your car loose speed and doesn’t downshift and the only way to downshift is to hit break and you loose more speed,
I normally play on unbeatable diffecullity and every second matter to me.
I’m gone try your 4 gear setupe in the easy races and see how it will work with me.
Another +1 for the semi automatic suggestion. Even Gran Turismo 4 had it.
As I predominantly use Auto for casual play, the only time I wish for a semi auto would be downshifting on steep inclines. Very useful with D/C/B class.
For those saying that it takes away from Manual users, perhaps the manual system could do with a overhaul? How about hold clutch button to open the gear selector (see image), then select a gear with RS?
I would make controller manual driving a lot more rewarding. Would also be funny to hear some gear slips!
Semi Automatic Gearbox is necessary in all racing games if you ask me, when low in rev/RPM as you play in automatic you must have the option to override the automatic gearbox to shift down! Shift up you never use as much so that is not a problem but to manually shift down in a automatic transmission is really necessary and key to compete with difficult races.
There should be a simulation automatic shifting setting in difficulties. What this would do is that it’s in automatic, but it’s realistic. Basically, it’s automatic but the brake only brakes. Then you manually change to neutral, reverse, and maybe even park maybe but idk why that would be really necessary. This would make it more realistic and a bit more fun imo.
Making automatic not feel weird? I’m up for that.
Current Automatic could be renamed to Arcade, since it’s a transmision type made up for arcade racing games. Even CVTs and electric transmissions don’t work this way.
Realistic Gearbox in Forza Horizon
Hello there, I’ve made this come true, go give a try!
Realistic Gearbox in Forza Horizon
Hello, you guys can check this out if you are looking for a more realistic gearbox
i want that to
Add function automatic gearbox (P R N D) for joystick
Would this be due to disability? Not meaning to cause offense
Need For Speed Rivals had something like a realistic gearbox but it was still automatic, when you did full throttle it would change down a gear, but when you half or less than half throttle then it would change up in gear lowering the revolutions.
The idea is to create a hybrid gear shifting mode — something between full automatic and manual.
In this “semi-automatic” mode, the player can manually shift up or down at any time, but if they don’t, the game will automatically shift gears to avoid stalling or being stuck in the wrong gear.
This would be especially helpful for:
-
Drifting — where the player might want to downshift manually for better torque and control, but may forget to upshift during or after a corner.
-
Players who don’t have a wheel or controller and are playing with a keyboard only — where it’s difficult to manage precise manual shifting due to limited buttons.
-
Newer players who want to learn manual shifting, but with some safety net.
Example:
-
I enter a drift and manually downshift to initiate.
-
The game doesn’t interfere with that.
-
But if I forget to upshift after the drift — the game automatically shifts up for me.
This would create a smoother experience, give more control to the player, and make the game more accessible to different playstyles and input setups.
