Introduction
I found that the stunning view in Forza Horizon made it a soothing game. But there was something annoying when I drive slowly, the in-game automatic gearbox. The in-game gearbox only shifts gear at high rpm, though I can make it realistic by manually changing gear, it could give players more immersive experience if there’s a more realistic gearbox. And there it is.
Features
In my realistic gearbox, it brings:
- Driving experience just like in real life.
- Throttle responsive gear changing
- Continuous down shift when giving heavy throttle
Goals
I hope this mod can be seen from the developers because there are some problems can only be fixed by intergrating it into the game. Also, this innovative idea can be a new feature in the game, as it can make the game more realistic and immersive.
If you are looking for the genuine driving experice in Forza Horizon, vote on this post and watch the demo video. If there’s any issues, join my Discord server.
Honestly I want realistic gear box types for all vehicles. So the automatic only vehicle would shift itself without player assistance
It’s functional to all types of vehicles, even electric cars. You can go download the Realistic Gearbox I made on the website I provided on the post.
Dear community mods, this post is basically providing a concept of new feature in game. And with a demo made to let users try this concept and make comment on this feature. If you can generously accept this concept, please help me send this concept to the game design team. Also be informed, this demo is with GPL-3.0 License.
Thank you.
That is actually cool. Crown Vic and Caprice make sense now
Can you realize the cruise control?
I’ve tried that before and still have to figure out a way to hold the throttle. It will be a feature in the future.
I’ve heard rumors that FH6 might use FM2023 technology, and may more realistically simulate different transmissions (DCT and Sequential Manual included).
As it stands, the system in FH5 goes all the way back to the very first Forza games, when cars with larger (6+ gears) and more complex transmissions were much more rare.
These days you may be hard pressed to find a new car that’s got a manual transmission, even if you’re not looking for a hybrid or electric car; Forza seems to just be catching up to this owing to internal decisions to optimizing development, the experience and balancing.
Need For Speed Rivals had something like this, when you did full throttle it would change down a gear, but when you half or less than half throttle then it would change up in gear lowering the revolutions.
