I personally love the Ford GT40 but the Arial Atom I have no interest in… The original Arials were light, fast and agile, I think the R class version is just a case of too much power and not enough weight to control it.
Geministorm2. Good point. A lot of these cars were the cats meow at the time and it’s good their replication into F5 reproduces a car that’s 2-3 generations old.

The Cobra 427 was the bane of comedian Bill Cosby when Carroll Shelby custom-built one for him. Here’s Cosby describing the gift.

the ariel atom
#62 Ferrari 458 (oversteers like crazy, and as niki laud would have said, “the weight distribution is a disaster”. biggest piece of junk I’ve boughten so far)

Thanks Snow that had me loling at dinner. However I doubt many will know who George Wallace was…

It is a classic, typical Bill Cosby. I believe that was a recorded stage appearance and there are a couple other versions (on archived film) around including one where he did the routine on The Tonight Show. Well worth tracking down.

But, it shows how difficult some of those older cars are/were with the big engines, suspensions of the day, and little weight. Like trying to ride a real mustang (not the car) which has never had a human aboard.

I’m reminded of my Dad telling me about how he floored his 1965 Pontiac GTO (“well over 120 mph”) on a trip to visit my Mom’s family going down I-69 to Indianapolis once before I was born…he couldn’t tell whether the car was shaking from the speed or if he was shaking from being scared out of his mind. The slightest mistake and me and my brother wouldn’t be here…Dad says that the even if he could have steered (apparently the steering stunk) he couldn’t have slowed down in a reasonable time since using the brakes would have made him fly off of the highway. I guess he really didn’t want to go to the in-laws that day…LOL.

Any car that handles poorly is really just a tuner’s dream. They can all be fixed. Some may only be fixed by the very best tuners. A few cars the very best tuners will swear at but at the end of the day they can all be made to behave themselves (somewhat lol).

If anyone is having grief with a certain car I suggest asking those on the tuning marketplace if they have a good tune for that specific car or check the tuning gallery thread that Turn 10 are maintaining.

I love driving those cars because they force my patience. The birdcage rival was a real eye opener. I really had to learn gentle trigger squeeze on both throttle and breaking. These cars really have helped me overall with my driving so I have no complaints but instead I have learned to respect certain cars or they will let me know I am not!

Ariel atom V8
Spun out so many times in that thing on vital over taking corners.
Most of the open wheel/track day cars are pretty tricky for me the in corners. I love driving the caterham around the airbase for fun though.

Sorry to hear that.

However, as with any purchase, research is key. Also, different cars suit different type of drivers.

I like a grippy car with mild understeer. Others like a tail that slides out a little… etc…

You bought a car that you didn’t like the way it drove (cause you didn’t bother to test drive and rent it first)

So then you make a post coming here telling people not to buy cars.

Did you ever consider how threads like this make the forum disorganized and useless? Could you please try to be a little less selfish? Maybe at least talk to someone in the game who can set you straight when you are (mentally) off the beaten path like a crazy homeless person.

Next time please think before you type.

I can see how reply’s like this make the forums disorganized and useless…

The Ariel Atom and the #007 Aston were very disappointing. The Aston is drive-able after some time tuning but the Atom was impossible for me. I decided to buy the ktm and it has far exceeded the Ariel, although I might need to give the Caterham a go.

YEAH YOU ARE RIGHT SPENDING CREDITS IS CRAZY!!!

This thread needs to be locked immediately, save the brainless from themselves.

You should read more than just the thread title…

Contribute to the thread or leave it. Simple. Nobody is forcing you to read it.

Ford RS200 EVO for A class… just… there isn’t a word to describe how bad it is.

Borderline:
McLaren M23: borderline because i think it’s just how the older F1 cars handle

Viper SRT Motorsport GTS-R: Can be quite a handful on some tracks

I didn’t read both pages of replies but I have also purchased a couple of cars I was unhappy with. Now before I buy a car I pop into free play mode and rent it, run it around a track or two to see how it feels. Of course tuning a car can make it feel totally different.

EDIT: Also keep in mind when you are buying a car, it may be able to be upgraded to race in a certain class but it was never designed to be in that class, so it may be very hard to handle.

If I recall correctly from my youth. The AC Cobra 427 was always considered a suicide ride. The car that will try to kill you. In that regard I suspect the game version is pretty close to it’s real life metal counterpart
