RWD = Drifting, AWD = Power Sliding and FWD = Sliding on leaderboards?

When we go to any drift event wich goes in real life, there is no FWD or AWD cars on track… Maybe converted cars but drift events is always done with RWD cars… And yeah drift needs grip but it needs also RWD car

When did we start gatekeeping drifting? Lol.

Let people drift how they want. If it’s fast and sideways, it’s drifting. Plain and simple.

Forza as a game series tries to be as realistic as possible

Yeah, your entire starting premise is faulty.

I’m just going to be straight, your opinion, is wrong.

Per USDC rules (for one at least) make no mention of restricting sanctioned events to RWD only. In fact in summary (bold for emphasis):

12.0 Drift Car / Competition Vehicle

For the purposes of this publication, the terms “drift car” and “competition vehicle” may be used interchangeably, unless otherwise specified. Generally speaking, both terms refer to any four wheeled, motorized vehicle possessing adequate safety equipment to meet the standards for a USDC drift contest.

EDIT : Ah, a little closer reading of the Formula Drift sanctioned rules it is RWD only (despite at least one approved car being available as both RWD and AWD) so you have a case for SOME sanctioned events, but not all, as I saw absolutely no such mention in the USDC rules.

As someone who will happily say learning to control my drifts better helped improved my racing (both in terms of slip angle/keeping more momentum and also staying straighter and reducing the total distance my car needs to travel), I still don’t like this tone of this and respectfully still disagree with the OP.

There are lots of ways to enjoy drifting.

People can play how they want. However, if you think Rwd having to compete against awd meta abusers is fair then you’re most likely abusing the meta.
some people always take the path of least resistance, and will naturally gravitate to the easier way to get a win.
Playground Games does not care as these types of posts seem to have been about since the start of the game, just gotta suck it and wait for FM8.

beat u love your awd isetta, Drift is hard

FM8 was not worth the wait, Turn 10 has shown it is way out of touch with its player base, they have no pride in their work and are abusing built-in audiences. Lets hope the folks from carX can step up. RIP forza

What is there to fix? You must be special to think AWD cars are just the easy way out. I’m in one of the top drifting clubs in the game and I drift both AWD and RWD cars. I beat AWD cars all day long in RWD and get my butt beat when I’m in AWD cars. The only time I’ve ever seen posts where people are asking them to take out AWD and FWD is when they just can’t drift. Just calling it how I’ve seen it play out everytime. I guarantee you ever get beat by ODC or OCD or CDF 99% of the time you’ve got beat by RWD drivers.

I wish you guys posting this stuff knew how you make yourselves sound. Stop with crying and go practice. There’s always going to be someone better than you. A little news flash bud, AWD cars are only banned in competitions today because it’s HARDER for AWD to drift than RWD. Do your research. Because you have no clue what you are saying.

Is AWD drifting powersliding?

No, all-wheel drive (AWD) drifting and powersliding are not the same thing:

  • Drifting: Can be done with AWD cars, but it requires a lot of horsepower.
  • Powersliding: Requires drive to go to the rear axle, which is easiest in a rear-drive car, but can be done in some AWD cars.

Here are some other things to know about drifting and powersliding:

  • You can’t powerslide a front-wheel drive car because the rear wheels don’t deliver power.
  • You can drift a front-wheel drive car by using weight transfer or the handbrake to get the back end sliding.
  • In Formula DRIFT, AWD cars can be converted to rear-wheel drive.
  • Stock ECUs in AWD cars often direct most power back to the front wheels when sliding, which can create more understeer than oversteer.Key points about AWD drift cars in competition:
    Reason for the ban:

The primary reason for banning AWD cars in drifting is that they can make it significantly harder to achieve the desired controlled oversteer needed for proper drifting techniques.

Gran Turismo is more of a simulator than FM8, GT7 is not the top of its class but I would say more. GT7 looks better than FM8 as well.

Its not sold a simulation, its more of a Arcade-Style racing game.

I dont see an issue. If you dont like AWD or FWD drifting, then thats a YOU problem, not a game problem and its exactly that…A GAME!

So please stop telling players how they should be using Rwd only to drift. I also like to a leave little side note: Not every player who plays Horizon are able bodied, they use AWD to drift.

I wish you knew what you were talking about before launching into ad hominem attacks to stroke your ego. AWD on drag tires offers an obvious advantage, huge acceleration and little lateral grip (if you learn how to tune you’ll understand), crashing and keeping going helps to make up for a lot of skill.
awd and rwd should be separated, any other argument is silly.
I am in one of those clubs you mentioned, and you are welcome to come and spend some time in Drift Adventure, you’ll see.

In fh5 it is really not much difference in awd and rwd, alot of people in the top use rwd, (they really like to show that by doing burnouts and the end of the race lol)

it all comes down to learning the track and master your skill, i like awd more but im not far of in points when i use rwd. But sure it would be fun if they did awd and rwd only races.

There’s a touch more muscle memory required with 2WD. You have to keep a closer eye on the throttle than with 4WD, the latter of which looks after you a bit more.

You can get a larger variety of vehicles in this game to drift if you are willing to bolt on a 4WD tune as well.

We don’t have leaderboards for A class vs S1 vs S2. we need those first
