Route Creator feature, tips and help

You have to go back to the location of the starting point of the route you saved and then create an event under Blueprint.

Thank you Sir.

Hi guys, got to say really enjoying your continued work on the game and the introduction of new features.

You’ve taken one feature out in the process however, i can no longer lock a car class when making events for specific/individual cars which is a shame because i like to play with as level a playing field as possible.

Anyway, loving the route creator through currently there is no way to separate routes from blueprints or indeed even know which blueprints contain a custom route… you should include a mini-map on the event cards perhaps. But personally i think they should be separate and you should have a saparate rank as a route creator, I would also like to browse and play people’s routes directly individually. Rivals mode could work very effectively with route creator, using the creator’s car and ghost.

Most importantly i would like to race against other people on my and other people’s created routes but as I’m sure you well know very few people accept invites in horizon life multiplayer.

I think you should have an server browser where people seeking multiplayer can join specific multiplayer only horizon life sessions or some other lobby system wwhere a host can control and select the events, because as much as i enjoy adventures there’s so much wasted potential with the great creative features in this game.

You can create blueprints for a specific class. You have to be in an online session, go to your starting point, select PVP and create the blueprint. It then allows you to add the class restriction.

Also, I agree and keep communicating to Playground Games Devs that we NEED Custom Public Lobbies (aka Server Browser). Nothing new here. They have Custom Public Lobbies in Forza Horizon 1. We just need them back. And, of course, the ability for the host to choose any custom route blueprint they want.

You can no longer choose individual cars and then lock a class limit to the event. Which means you may want a race with specific slow cars unmodded and someone can rock up with a maxed out one. You used to be able to do this before they updated the ui.

When I’m trying to complete a route that I’ve made it says while racing as I go through some checkpoints that I’ve missed them and when that happens it resets me and still continues saying it and then I can’t make my race.

Plz fix this turn 10 so we can create races without the problems of missing a checkpoint when you have clearly driven through it

That’s also my biggest downer on this.
I gave up making blueprints, because it’s just a matter of luck to have your blueprint played by others.

First option to make it more likeable to be found, is search by car your using at the moment.

You can’t even promote your routes or blueprints somewhere else, without others to force them to follow me, which I don’t wan’t.

I am not a big tuner also, and never promoted them actively, but with 20ish tunes I got already 250 downloaded tunes, but with 50 blueprints I go ZERO downloads.
And I don’t see any improvement, because I never find blueprints I may want to try, because of the limited search options.

I like to build myself a car, and race it somewhere, but I can’t find bluprints that way easy enough to bother with it, and just make my own, if the game don’t offer me the right ones.

I will still make some custom tracks just for myself until the search options change, but not as many as I want to offer, because though you won’t have other players to play your routes, it is a nice feature.

all races on the map should be usable as starting points, drag, drift, etc it doesn’t matter… you’re only making use of the starting point

the limited use of starting points is the biggest drawback of this route creator

it really doesn’t make sense that you can pick any place you want for the finish line but you can’t do the same for the starting point… but at least have all the races on the map be usable as starting points

There is few bugs/glitches with the create route option in races, this is to be expected due to the update was very recent.
The current issues/bugs/glitches are listed below:

1 ) When placing a Checkpoint or Finish Line over a ‘Bridge which Crosses a Road’ it sometimes cannot decide which road you put the checkpoint on.

For example, if you was to drive over the bridge and set a checkpoint. When testing the race the game can sometimes set the checkpoint under that bridge. It can also show the checkpoint on the bridge but when you go through it. It will say checkpoint missed.

  1. A bit like 1 ) but instead while on ‘A Round About’ it will say you missed the checkpoint when you go through it

  2. Respawning after missing a Checkpoint you can sometimes spawn already past it. By the time you reverse to go back through the checkpoint the timer ruins out making you respawn on a continuous loop.

Things that would make life easier

Sometimes after creating a long race (above 10 mi) the game has a tendency to crash. While typing the name after creating the route.

It would be a great little feature if the game noticed that you suddenly closed the game and reminded you about a recent event you were making asking if you would like to continue working on it.

Maybe a autosave mechanic while making the route so if you’re game does indeed crash. You can reload the game and not have to worry about replacing all the checkpoints and testing it out again to save it without knowing if it will crash after doing so. But If that player isn’t bothered about that recent event they can just press no which unsaved the autosave.

It’s just to make life ten times easier, I don’t think many people wanna set up races lose them due to the game crashing and having to restart setting them up all over again. The autosave would be a good save for if you’re game does decided to crash.

All theses glitches/bugs/issues/ideas were experienced while playing on an Xbox one.

I still don’t understand why we can’t delete blueprints! Since you can’t edit them you are going to have to redo it and have like 4 versions you don’t want. It’s not even clear which one people will see.

You can do multiple circuits of a roundabout by placing check points on each “lap” then placing one just off one of the exits - great way of confusing people in the heat of battle…

It’s pretty infuriating to spend 40+ minutes trying to make the ultimate race for me and my buddy. To have it basically mess me over and not allow me to save it. I seen the posts about max distance and I get that but I was only at 32.8Km our of 60ish. Then I was told about max checkpoints by someone else. Okay but how do we as players know that there’s no counter like there was for max distance and I couldn’t end the race where I was cause it would no longer let me save so I tried rewinding and it stopped going backwards after about 10 button pushes only to have the same result. I love this idea it’s so creative and right up my alley. But I have to say I had rather waited for a refined version like why is the racing line dependant on where I drive. Why implement a great feature with so many terrible flaws and with so much limitation. I’m loving this game and this isn’t gonna get me offline anytime soon. I just really think this feature should have been refined much more for the extreme user. Because if and extreme nutjob like me can use it smoothly than so can the average player. Anyways that’s the end of my rant hopefully my concern is seen and heard. Glad to see this added but please fix its flaws.

There needs to be more filters that get applied when creating and then searching for a route. At the moment we have keywords and descriptions for photos or tunes but nothing for routes. I’ve been trying out as many user created routes as possible, but firstly, you can’t see a map of the course before you select and you’re never sure if it was just a test route/mess about by the creator or a proper planned shared route (the names are usually very unhelpful).

It’s far from a safe bet to just use ‘all time greats’ as a filter either, of 3 routes I tried under that filter yesterday, one was pretty dull and deliberately sent the AI off course, one was a confusing mess and the third was so poor that it couldn’t be completed in the car I chose. All of them had multiple plays and likes and they were three of the worst routes I’d played in 3 days random testing!

It’s good enough to build a very cheesy but lucrative highway circuit (that’s what I did). But even if you’re fine with its very restrictive nature, it’s very hard to share your route with friends & club members (try to find my “Highway Madness” for Elmsdon on Sea start, gl).

Missing features:

  • map button on console
  • counters for distance (current/max) and checkpoint (current/max)
  • fully working rewind (I think that’s a general problem, sometimes it doesn’t work in the normal game either)
  • individual track designation for sharing (currrent filters are far too basic and not very helpful)
  • ramps
  • boundaries (destructible, indestructible)
  • free start/finish zones: almost any straight route section should be ok

When I look at the general mess of multiplayer, I have my doubt we will see much improvements in the near future. Compared to FH3, FH4 multiplayer feels deliberately bad, in fact so bad, that you have to doubt Turn 10’s interest in us playing it at the same rate we did in FH3.

I would be glad to be proven wrong. The presentation is brilliant, so are the hundreds of beautiful cars, with some gameplay fixes, they still could turn FH4 into the gem the fans were hoping it to be. Beyond the short-term single player experience it’s a very flawed game that feels like a total downgrade from FH3 once you glanced past the pretty front.

Let’s hope they treat us a fix, and fast too.

Added this to the Features wishlist

i made like 6-7 races and had no problems… my only complaint is that you can’t use drag races as starting points

Also, pretty hard to find “fun routes to drive”, when most of the search results that aren’t blueprints of the original track are intentionally uneventful 60km long grinds.

The Back button (or whatever they want you to call it these days) brings up the map for me.

I also found your Highway Madness easily. It looks like you almost did the race I wanted to use The Leviathan (er… Juggernaut maybe? The big drag race) starting point for. 10 laps is too much for me to finish right now, though.

I guess this is the All Things Routes thread.

I would like to echo two requests:

Improved search, including creator name, so we don’t have to friend someone just to see their route.

Rivals for custom routes. Asynchronous competition is good.

Route Creator’s biggest flaw to me is not being able to put a start point ANYWHERE I want to. Having to use races that Playground Games put onto the map is both limiting and infuriating. If that limitation is in place because it’s the only way to get the game to instance you into a race, fine, but at least let me move the starting point a few yards or miles and even turn it around! I had 10 or so tracks planned out, but have only been able to do 1 of them because I got lucky it had a Playground Games race on it; it’s BACKWARDS from the direction I wanted to race however.

Playground Games did a good job imo for letting us set the race course out, but paid no attention the the most important part of a race, THE START. I do also wish we could put up ramps or barriers, and I wish we could move checkpoints after placing them. I have rewind disabled because it’s the most dumb feature I’ve seen in any racing game so I can’t back track past any of my checkpoints once placed. That alone has had me restart a few of the tracks I have made.

Also, It’d be nice if we could, somehow, make our own Playground Games (CTF, King, ect) arenas.

On the note of barriers and ramps, we could use drone mode to place them after the course has been set. So there IS a way to do it…

I won’t lie, I almost stopped playing this game once I saw I could only make 1 track. Playground Game’s tracks are so boring, and the one’s I had planned were so fun (to me ofc). If anything with Route Creator is fixed, it better be the ability to move/rotate the starting line or I’m probably going to stop playing Forza anything.
