Hey all!
Went to Road America with my son and dad over the weekend for the Vintage race series! It was pretty awesome. I learned a pretty important thing. How the races happen in real life are very similar to how they happen in Forza (besides the crashes because in real life the cars don’t fix themselves) One (or two) guys blow away the rest of the pack and start lapping the field rather quickly. One (or two) guys are WAY slower (like me in Forza) and get lapped by much of the field. But they keep trying! I must admit I was a little disappointed that I didn’t see the inflatable waving dude like in Forza Here is some footage I took at the track.

I agree. Went there years ago for a Jaguar invitational race, which was vintage cars, and it was a lot like the game. Would love to go back someday.
Awesome !! I have been lucky enough to go to Bathurst, heres a vid of me driving round
Me going round Bathurst
(P.s It took 8 mins cause you are only allowed to do 80kmh due to it being a normal road)
Even though its been laster scanned its WAY wrong in width of the track
I also went to Spa and Silverstone for the World Endurance Championship events
Spa
Silverstone
And Silverstone is pretty spot on, I couldnt tell any differences in the track from the game to walking around it
Spa, Eau Rouge at the bottom seems more of a violet change from downhill to the river then up to Raidillion, the run up Kemmel Straight and through Les Combes and Malmedy are more uphill than in the game I have noticed
Looks and sounds like an absolute blast! Thank you for sharing.
I was at Silverstone too for the W.E.C Shame about the weather but it was awesome to see
Going back for motorcycle races in a couple weeks I will get some vids at other corners I hope Pity about that width being wrong - too narrow or too wide? Must have been awesome to drive the route!
Too narrow on the game, it needs a good 4 foot added to the width
Road America is an amazing track. I’ve raced there in an E30 BMW with Chump Car. certainly a fun track and practicing it in Forza 4 was a huge help. Kind of funny, the alternate full lay out is the way they make Chump Car and 24 hours of Lemons run the track. That ridiculous bump that the video game portrays in that left hander isn’t actually there at all and in Forza 4 that portion of the track which, wasn’t part of an official lay out, drove more accurately then it does in 5 where it is part of an official track lay out.
It was amazing how much more sense of elevation change you get in real life compared to in Forza
I think that is just down to the perception of it via a TV, the cameras flatten it, the same is true about Bathurst and Spa
Bathurst on real racing you get the feeling of elevation, I didn’t think it was that much of a hill until real racing.
Wow, seems like a fun time at Road America, especially with the vintage cars. Nice videos.
