why is my stock B and A class car getting matched up with S1 and S2 class cars???
i’m in a A 760 Audi trying to beat a S1 926 car that is 15 to 20 seconds faster…

Get a different car?
Several Rivals don’t have a limit on what class you are allowed to bring to it. Same goes for speed-cameras; you are allowed to have “unlimited” car to set the best speed.

Step 1 - always upgrade your car to the top of whichever class you choose. So instead of A760 get it to A800.
I am not sure how different the 360 and One version are.
On the One version I never do a post race rivals event but do them from the rivals screen where I can choose the class and choose the specific rival I am trying to beat.

Rivals are just ghosts of other players setting whatever time is their best on the leaderboard for a given course. So if they tried to an S2 or X and couldn’t turn in. time better than a good driver in a lower class, well, you’ve seen what happens… The cars might be 20 seconds faster, but the driver, not so much. =D
]I don’t think you can actually select a class in the Rivals mode for 360. AFAIK, every single rivals event is “Anything Goes”
Eg. Sisteron’s Citadel Circuit rivals allows class selection in the X1 version, but not in the 360 version.
