My two ideas how to improve this:
1: Allow players to sort the rims by weight (but still keep A-Z brand sorting) to make it easier to find rims that are the same weight / in the targeted PI.
2: Separate the rim style and the 5 weight categories and allow players to make their own style/weight combination (sorta like ‘transmog’ / ornament system found in many MMOs). Of course, licensing being a thing and it usually being a huge pain, this idea might never happen.
The rim system has been my gripe for a long time in Forza games. For example, when I finish tuning up a car and need that few PI points to reach the top of the class, I usually go for Fikse Profil 5 or 5S or Volk TE37, as they are all in the lightest category, or I need to knock off PI points, OZ Racing Superturismo GT as they’re in the heaviest category. There are a ton of other rims that I would like to use, but the current experience of finding the ones that are the same weight / in your targeted PI is bad, so I usually default to these few choices. Sure, you can collect all the information into a spreadsheet, like this one made for Forza Horizon 5 by user Mr_Funreal on reddit, but IMO, it’s a bit clunky to rely on spreadsheets.
