Restrictor plate query

hello all, unimportant question, maybe best answered by devs so that’s not going to happen here - but someone might know

putting, say, the 1.4l turbo rally engine gives an upgrade tree where there are three choices for the restrictor plate - stock restrictor plate, no restrictor plate and remove restrictors

what exactly is the difference supposed to be between “no restrictor plate” and “remove restrictors”?

sure, there’s a difference in the pic but the implication is in the one case the restrictor plate is removed and in the other case the restrictor plate is, well, removed

That they have two options: no restrictors, and remove restrictors pretty much tells me the developers have no idea what restrictors are or what they do. Reinforcing the fact the developers have very little automotive experience or very little mechanical experience.

It would seem more logical to me, a turbo rally 1.4l engine would have first, no restrictor, then options for restrictors A, and B, to allow changes in PI as you wish.

My guess is the “No Restrictor Plate” is mislabeled and should actually be referred to as “Less Restrictive Plate”, or something more precise if dimensions were actually used between those vs. the larger stock restrictor plates. Maybe that’s giving them too much credit though. I really can’t say for sure.

At first the standard upgrade rally engine is the 1.6L I4 (not a 1.4L). The only other upgrade rally engine I know about is the 2.0L F4.

On the pic of the selection for the upgrade it shows three different restrictor plates (at least on PC). The “no restrictor” is clearly a wrong description. It should be “high flow restrictor” or something the like.

Before it was mentioned here I actually never noticed this “bug”.

You mean like certain combinations of 9’s and 6’s?

From day one when I first saw this restrictor plate debacle I saw that something was wrong with their logic. But then, there’s so much mechanically wrong throughout the game that it doesn’t really matter. They would REALLY, I mean actually, honestly have to rebuild the game from the ground up. With help and input from actual automotive enthusiasts and race professionals.

Any idea how it looks in FH4? I’m too lazy to fire it up and have a look myself.

Most likely it looks the same. They probably built FH5 new from the ground up. :speak_no_evil::hear_no_evil::see_no_evil: Oh did I really say that?
