Unable to remove restrictor on TS040 Hybrid!?

Topic title really. Is there a specific reason we can’t change the restrictor plate on the new Toyota TS040 Hybrid?

Same class as the Audi R18 e-tron, both AWD, around the same power, direct competitors too. We can change restrictor plates on the Audi but not the TS040.

Surely not a balance reason? I mean, with both of them stock and untuned I’m getting better times with the Audi (albeit tenths). Obviously that would increase significantly though if I changed the Audi restrictor.

Surely I’m not the only one to notice this…?

No, you’re not. I’ve also noticed that the fuel consumption is greatly exaggerated (I’m unable to complete four laps around Le Mans).

I think Turn 10 must give a look on this…i mean ,the TS040 should be much faster than R18. I don’t have the pack but if it is like the OP says…

The TS040 can only have wheel upgrades, with a maximum potential PI of P/992.

Nobody outside of Turn 10 and Toyota would know the reason for this so all we can do is speculate.

I do know however that the TS040 did have a functioning boost system in Gran Turismo 6. It has appeared in Project CARS and other titles too, but I haven’t played those so I can’t give any insight.

I hope that it is more competitive than Mazda and Toyota LMP2 at least…
