I was just wondering if there would be an option to remove the pop-off valve from the turbo (introduced in the '87 and continued in the '88 to reduce the power of the turbocharged cars). It wouldn’t be necessary but it would be awesome to extract more power from the engine.
Most of these racing cars with artifical restrictors have a tuning option to ‘remove restrictors’. I would be surprised if the Mclaren has it too because it could be even more insanely fast but I guess we will find out very soon…
I was refering to the power. Not the actual car itself. 1200hp in an F1 car wouldn’t have been possible in 1987 due to the 4.0bar pop off valve but it would have been possible in 1986 as there were no strict regulations with the engine. I was simply stating that it would be nice to have the MP4/4 with the power levels of 1986. 1200hp would be a lot of fun in a light car.
To the OP, in case it isn’t already known, the only available upgrade is to drag rubber, or aftermarket wheels. No engine changes at all (not even remove restriction). It’s exactly the same as the other (modern) F1 car.
