So I bought the Ultimate Edition and played the game for a couple of days. Had a multitude of issues, including but not limited to;
Visual glitches
Terrible load times
VIP dissapointment
So I woke up this morning with serious buyers remorse. I contacted M$ support and got a full refund for the £80 I spent. My plan was to buy AC or something in a couple of weeks instead.
However, a few hours later I started to realise that despite the issues, I was having fun with the game. So I have repurchased the Ultimate Edition.
Yes it has issues. Yes it could be better as many things. But it does so many things very well and is a genuinely fun game underneath the problems.
I hope people will reconsider their hate for this game. I’m certain T10 will fix the ongoing issues based on community feedback. They delivered so many great games in the past, they deserve a second chance.
Yeah… seems like something that would happen to me.
I haven’t pre-orderd it, Im just going to wait it out for a bit but ill get it in the end anyway.
It’s like a new shooter or GTA, the old game just dies out even when the next game might not shine as bright…
It’s sad to see such basic things disappear in a game that could have struck gold with just 20% of the communtity imput…
I feel like probably near 50% of people talking about refunds will probably still end up getting the game or just outright deciding against the refund before committing.
I did opt for the refund of $145 Canadian. It was done pretty quickly within 5 minutes so it was super fast.
The fact that the AI tyre’s or fuel don’t degrade over long races, the crashing issues with no error messages, the VIP issue, no qualifying and the hot lapping issue just made me realize it for sure wasn’t worth the price tag for me personally. I wanted an actual motorsports game with proper pits with a huge amount of cars. At this point this game isn’t it.
I will probably buy the game at a discount way down the road, but no way could I justify $145 to wait maybe months for a patch to actually fix my issues. The graphics sure we’re pretty though. MP ran well for me when it wasn’t crashing as well, even though it was a bump fest non stop.
I will see in the future what is done with the game.
I actually contacted MS but for some reason I didn’t qualify for a refund that’s a €109,- i’m out of pocket. Given the state of the current game i truly would have waited for a discount or something like that. But right now i’m working on a giant review, perhaps something along those lines might grab the attention of t10 ( even though i now im just lying to myself thinking it would do any good).
i wish i could get a refund… but the receipt clearly states its can only be exchanged for an identical product (which basically mean “buyer beware”), IE another copy of F7; but the problem is they made the game defective (not the disc) on purpose via the homologation system… this is basically need for speed / mario kart with forza graphics and the forza logo, forza 7 is an embarassment to forza 1-6 (and horizon 1-3 and i’ve bought and played all 10 forza game, and love all of them… until this one).
Certain based on what? Turn 10’s years of ignoring the community? Hey, if you’re enjoying the game, that’s great, but don’t spend a dime thinking they’re going address most of the what the community is really ticked about. Sure it could happen, and I could win the lottery this friday. Actually, the Lottery is more likely. I’ve actually seen people win, I’ve not seen any evidence Turn10 cares even a small amount about the community.
I was having fun playing it as well, but I didn’t rebuy it. I’m not ok with the graphics being worse and the VIP stuff. I’m not ok with the half-baked approach and condescension being thrown at us, the consumers.
I might buy it again, but for now, Forza 6 is still a better game.
I don’t think there’s as much hate in here as there’s disappointment and it’s completely genuine - FM6 left high standards to live up to and when consumers feel they got the short end, they will raise their voices. Aside from the issues you highlighted, one quick visit to the forum and instantly you read about the strides they took backward in regards to car sounds and visual design.
Hey, I remember FM6 having to take a few strides back in the audio & visual department, but overall, the game was greatly improved. This time around they took shortcuts in exchange for 700+ cars, dynamic ToD etc. The trade off is just not acceptable, at least in my humble opinion. An official franchise on the Xbox One should not look and sound (mainly pointing the finger at car engine/exhaust notes) like this, not 4 years into the console’s lifecycle.
They can still make good with the fans though - they have been quite generous in their efforts in the past, releasing multiple patches for FM6, transforming the game from an already polished one into a very refined one. So there is hope, and I’m definitely staying on the positive side of things.
I’m going to pay my $60 for 7. FM6 was so good I bought an XBone for it. If FM7 is bad they’ll have lost a One X sale. I’ll spend my cash on a new PC and go back to Steam.
The good thing about getting a disk based standard edition is you can at least get something out of it. Even if it is only 10 or 15 trying to sell it on Ebay or a local yard sale site. With digital…you can’t get anything out of it resale wise.
That’s why I moved so fast for a refund after getting the Ultimate edition. One of the big selling points was to play early, but multiplayer was not there in the way I expected…and that’s what I let them know. I didn’t want to get this close to launch day then try to convince them I deserved a refund.
For certain, there are more technical issues present with FM7 than there were out of the gate with FM6. The homologation system though…really has me concerned. My initial impressions make me think it’s narrowed the box too much when it comes to what you can race with the current hoppers online. On launch day, it is true that FM6 had nowhere near the MP hoppers it has today, but I do remember S class being present and accounted for on launch day.
Sad because, due to the PC Download Store not working, I never got to play it.
I would never have imagined I’d refund a Forza game and not even because of the game!
I’ll probably definitely buy this again, but only once the Store is fixed. I wasted ~35-40gb trying to download this, will Microsoft compensate me for the cost of that data? Didn’t think so.
I don’t understand why their Store is this bad. I’ve used Steam since 2004, 250 games and not one problem. Even that horrid Origin and abysmal Ubisoft store all work pretty well fine. But apparently Microsoft can’t get a digital storefront to work on their on OS?
I don’t regret getting a refund. Just play Forza 6 and Horizon 3 and you’ll see why 7 is currently not worth it. What does Forza 7 have over these two? Really nothing. Weather and driver gear? 4K for those who have the hardware? Mine looked gorgeous at 1080p max settings. Pretty much all it is.
Will I buy it again? Oh, I absolutely will! But at the state that the game is at the moment, it is not worth it.
Same here, the game is great so far really enjoying it.
I did notice on some cockpit animation the driver if it’s a gear shift lever will only move to change gear once or twice from 1st to 6th gear.
Whilst I don’t feel strongly enough to attempt to get s refund of the game there have been some strange choices made in terms of game design and removal of features. Of course those features may not be something you ever used and things like career in my opinion are the best of ever Forza. But the huge step back they have made with things like Rivals and Multiplayer (which for all i know could be rectified in the near future) has disappointed a fair number of players.
So I can understand both sides to this really. Hopefully future patches will remedy some things and we can enjoy the game but I wouldn’t expect explanations from Turn 10 about why they have made some of these changes. Not because they don’t care but because they will still get a loaf of grief whatever they say.
Does anyone else remember when you used to buy a game, and you got one whole complete finished game? A game that was worth the dollars you handed over for at the time you handed them over? You didn’t have to wait months to see if the game got better or worse? I remember
