Recent Xbox update and Forza

“Microsoft also confirmed earlier this week that the update makes some slight changes to the Xbox One’s thumbstick sensitivity.”

“Xbox One users who already have the update are also reporting that the system’s sharpening filter has been updated, altering the way sub-1080p resolution games appear. We’ve reached out to Microsoft for clarification on that change.”

Anyone else notice that after this update, the cars seem to handle much better? Also, since MS removed the sharpening feature, the game looks much better as well.

The removal of the sharpening filter would have absolutely no affect on Forza. As you can see from the article it states that the sharpening filter was for sub-1080p games…Forza is native 1080p.

You must be imagining Forza looking better.

Definitely not imagining it. Maybe it’s my relatively old HDTV but before the update, you could see jaggies, especially on tracks where there are wires. After the update, they are significantly less.

FM5 may be “native” 1080p, but not everyone has 1080p display units, which would explain why there is a difference. Just because the game has a “primary” display capability, does not mean a three- to five-year-old display unit can do any better than 720p.

my old tv actually has 1920 x 1200 res. 1920 x 1080 comes up with black bars at top and bottom.

perhaps the down sampling got better but i didn’t notice any difference tonight. granted i was rivaling and concentrating on the track not the scenery. i did indy and laguna tonight and if there were wires i didn’t notice them. i used a couple of different tuns but i didn’t notice the controller feeling differently.

Haven’t seen any graphical changes but the triggers don’t seem as sensitive as they used to be.

Slightly off topic here but Titanfall seems like a great game if you haven’t tried the beta yet

No graphical change on Samsungs 8000 series, purchased last March. Game looks great, but the jaggies and marching ants are still present. As for the triggers, they have improved, almost to the point where I could drive the RUF 12 with sim steering… almost!.. trying to learn to drive with a clutch too, so they may be even better as I was a big spas last night trying to get it down…

Driving with Sim Steering is the only way your gonna get fast in this game … do not let the leaderboards fool you all those “DRIVERS” [ there I changed it ] on top using Traction Control so they can use Drag Tires in their tunes … don’t be that guy dude …learn to play with clutch and with all assists off and sim steering and when you get into the top 100 on a track … youll feel so accomplished

I Have A Question About Drag Tires Those Tires When You Put Them On Your Car Are Hard To Tune In The Turns But They Make Your Car Be Much Faster On The Straights But Not In The Turns. For Me Is Hard To Tune With Drag Tires Because I Like To Drive My Cars On All The Tracks And Be Fast.

You don’t have to use sim steering to be fast at the game. Not sure where you are getting that info. And the TCS usage is not just for drag tires and not all the cars at the top are using drag tires. Some are on stock, to near stock tires.

Yeah I know most use the stock tires … but I hate the fact that TCS times are mixed with the No Assist Times … on LBs … its junk … I know TCS exists in real cars … but … IMO I feel like the only reason TCS gets used is so people can get away with using Drag Tires and Stock tires … I use stock tires and I adjust accordingly and learn to drive through the slip … I mean The Diff and adjusting the camber Properly to each track … will help. and if need be add a wing … adjust width … orrr … go a step up in the Tire selection … TCS is just used so u can not adjust Tires and add all the engine crap … take off the TCS and those cars act a lot differently.

Between Street And Drag Tires I Rather Use Street Tires And Optimize My Accelaration And Deccelaration Perfectly I Will Be Slower Then The Guy With Drag Tires Like 1 Or 2 Seconds Slower But I Can Use My Car On Every Track Tho If You Want To Be Seriously On The Top Of The Leaderboards Use Drag Tires If You Like Me And Want To Be Fast While Posting A Top 100 Time And Use Your Car On Almost Every Track Don’t Use Drag Tires I Like To Be More Flexible You Will Never Know In What Track Your Car Can Be Faster.

You use drag tires on about 4 tracks.
A lot of real cars use TCS.
I run TCS on some cars, I will destroy you with or without it.
Watch your language.

I didn’t even realize the the steering was affected. I noticed nothing. Sure like the battery indicator; not sure if it is working though, the bar hasn’t moved.

Depends who you talk to it seems. It certainly isn’t listed on the MS summary for the update.
I didn’t notice any stick difference myself, but then I’m hopeless with it anyway.

if im not mistaken i think the controller update is scheduled in march just before titanfall comes out

Yeah, I said in another thread that I thought there was a slight difference, but after awhile I got to thinking it might be placebo effect kicking in. Sensitivity tweaks aren’t listed in the little new features blurp that released with the patch.

They said that they wanted it out before the Titanfall Beta released. I don’t know if it is the whole controller fix, but unless Battlefield released an update, the sticks do feel stronger. BF4 had a really touchy movement that I don’t feel anymore and this was before I realized that the controller fix was supposed to be in this update as while.

I noticed nothing
