Hey all. It feels like after the latest update with the DLC the handling is different. The steering to be exact. Also the tires seem to have less grip. The game feels more arcade now, I don’t know how else to describe it. I’m on PC and I’m using an XONE controller. I’ve checked the control and difficulty settings and everything were the same as before the update. I use ‘simulation’ steering but I tested the other modes as well and there’s the same problem. Basically it seems like the car is turning more sharply than before.
I’ve tested 4-5 of my favourite cars and in all of them the driving felt different. As it is for me it’s unplayable almost. I drive my cars stock, I don’t know if this is the reason I’m seeing such difference. Before the update everything were fine, and after the update I can’t drive and enjoy the game at all.
I can’t believe that I’m the only one noticing it… It drives me crazy! I have put 400hrs on this game, and now I can’t enjoy a single ride. Any suggestions?
It seems like they’ve made changes to the handling due to the rally update… I have both DLC’s btw. I really don’t understand why they need to change the handling of the game all of a sudden… I really don’t
I noticed something a bit off, but other people had pointed out that the update had turned the Hotwheels Stunt assist thing back on. I had to drop into the HW DLC to turn it off again, but it does seem like it was messing with things.
Am I wrong in assuming that should only effect gameplay on the HWs map though? I’ve personally not noticed any difference (XSX w/controller), though I have a friend who uses a wheel exclusively & has told me it’s virtually unplayable for him now until he determines how to correct it.
It also put TCS on for me and turned off LC. Worth checking everything.
Game feels okay on my Xbox pad. I’ve set a PB on the main map since the update so it hasn’t seemed to hurt me. But I noticed right away my car felt like a piano and suddenly my settings were changed and the TCS light was on.
I think you may be right about the physics. While some of my bungling round corners in the Rally Adventure map can be blamed on my lack of familiarity with it, my car seemed to slide a lot more than I was expecting, especially when the road surface was wet. I may not be that great a driver, but I like to think that I can take corners reasonably competently.
This has led me to wonder whether we’re testing a feature for the forthcoming FM game and FH6.
The turn-in is sharper yeah, but the grip seems lower. Like they tried to make the cars drift easier, I don’t know… Overall, at least for me, it broke the whole experience. I’m re-installing right now. The HW assist wasn’t the issue for me. I disabled it inside HW with no effect whatsoever in the base game.
So this rally update literally broke my handling for some reason. I can’t believe this. I really can’t… I hope with the fresh install to fix the issue, otherwise I won’t be able to play my favourite game. I really can’t believe this… I’ve spent 400hrs on this game, I have all my favourite cars and now I can’t even play.
“Oh yeah, hey, somebody go check on the testers. It’s been awfully quiet in cell block B. Bob, let me know how they’re doing next time you feed and water them. Bob ? Where’s Bob ?”
You fired him, about 2 years ago.
“Ah, right. Well then. Hmm. OK, next order of business, John, where are we on patches ? John ? Alright, where’s John ?”
I think the difference in feel is the difference in surfaces between the DLC and main map. I think the new sand in particular is VERY different from anything in the main map. I’m still not sure how best to approach or tune for that. I think a lot of the surfaces in the palm forest area in particular also have similar differences in traction as well. I don’t particularly think it’s a physics change, but a surface change. Another way to illustrate my point is that the dirt surfaces on the main map don’t kick up dust like they do in the DLC. That’s probably a function of it being a new surface and not reused.
But there’s also a lot of corners where there’s a bump, or camber, that makes your car slide or understeer way more than you expect. It’s not very obvious when it happens, but there’s a lot of things to trigger your car being unsettled or incapable of making turns. There’s a couple corners in the main map that can do similar things (hairpin on HMC, that one downhill square right corner on costa rocosa?). The main map feels the same as usual to me so I don’t think it’s a physics thing.
Without being able to look at the actual game code it’s hard to tell. We are left with perception which is not exactly scientific.
Of course the tracks are different. More elevation changes and jumps. Tighter sharper curves and camber changes etc. so it’s fair to expect it FEELS different and that previous tunes might not be as suitable for the new track designs.
In first few hours I would say it was changed.
Had problems with finding braking points and didn’t have enough grip in tight corners. So my first thought was that they have changed physics.
But now I think it was more twistiness of the road. Like I was expecting same corners like on main map, but instead they are narrower.
I’ve noticed they changed the car stats in terms of handling, off-road and weight after the update from last week Wednesday 29th March.
For a example I choose the Apollo IE (welcome pack version) from my car garage menu, thus the handling rating was 10 while it was fully upgraded to the top of S2, so I went to the custom upgrade menu, then I go to the handling and platform section, it suddenly shows the handling, off-road at 9.2 and 4.5 respectively
Somethings changed ,but i have no idea what. I have no proof or stats, but i like skill point farming in my 599 down the highway.I had it down to a ‘t’ and could hit 450-500k in my sleep. Now i’ve had to adjust my runs as i was hitting 600k+ by the time the point clock had finished ticking over.
I think its because i’m hitting more ultimate drifts in the run, but whether thats because of a handling change or more lenient skill timing i don’t know
I noticed this too when I decided to upgrade my tunes with anti-lag turbos. I had an S2 998 Ariel Atom that showed my handling at 10 in the car selection menu but when I went to the upgrade menu it said it was 9.1 handling.
After upgrading and tuning it now says 9.1 handling in the car selection menu.
I’ve noticed it with other cars but I’m not sure if it’s happening to every car.
I tested a Golf R32 that went from 7.1 handling down to 6.2 even though I hadn’t upgraded anything and it still felt like 7.1 handling so maybe it’s just a visual bug.
Will try some more testing.
I ran Jungle Descent in a B700 370 BHP RWD Sierra on stock tires & street suspension before and after the update. Can feel (and see) no difference now I adjusted my settings back and would really expect to here with the fast banked corners, changes in elevation and slow off-camber hairpins that like to unsettle the car.
I had an Alpine A110 That I had upgraded and tuned long ago to S1 900. It’s handling was 7.7 and offroad was 3.2.
I took another A110 and upgraded it with identical parts and the same exact tuning settings and it ended up with 6.9 handling and 3.8 offroad.
I took both cars into rivals and honestly, I’m not sure if I could tell the difference in handling.
I’m leaning towards this being a visual bug like the PI differences some players were experiencing but perhaps someone that has a better feel for the cars could experiment to be sure.
