Is it me or does the handling feel soo much better in the rally expansion?
Much more precise and realistic.
Even the difference between terrain is so different compared to the main map which going on the grass or off road just seems as the only difference is the colour of what your driving on.
I don’t know if this has Been mentioned before but the only reason I brought it up is that is how the whole game should feel.
And the roads are far from as boring as the main map.
Think they need to kill this game off (it’s on life support at best with all the unsolved issues)and start again with this as a new start point because we know the new one won’t be using the same physics as FM.
From my experience, the physics haven’t really changed with the exception of thicker sand, which now causes vehicles, including off-roaders, to struggle much more than before. The rest of what you’re probably feeling is just the significantly better map design. The verticality and the winding roads in this expansion map are god-like compared to the main map. I suppose that’s what happens when developers prioritize good map design over an online-only multiplayer mode that barely anybody plays (I know the Eliminator has a following, but it is rarely mentioned here, Forza YouTubers hardly showcase it, and it is never mentioned in any of the subreddits).
As a wheel user i agree wholeheartedly,it’s a much better experience than the main map (and toy map, obviously)
When you said before that horizon isn’t good at 90 degrees cornering the rally expansion really proved your point to me. If anything i think its worse now than with previous titles since the handling itself feels a lot more understeery. Any WRC or dirty rally game is significantly better at this than horizon 5
The roads are fun but the map design around it isnt for the most part. Like its just the same boring Mexico for me.
the physics are noticeably different in rally. I assume they didn’t want the same 3 or 4 cars/tunes to dominate both maps.
FM physics are completely different. Try an AWD high horsepower car. You will not make the first turn. Can’t jump 3000 feet.
Not only are the physics different for the really expansion. I think some the car releases are also different. Some of the new cars have more drag and better handling than they should. A prime example of this would be the Chevy K10.
I think @Runoff1999 hit the nail on the head with his post. The map is so much better designed than the main map and the difference is truly night and day. I personally enjoy the Rally map much more for everything. There’s more stuff to explore and the driving/racing is much better.
A800 Open Road Racing on RA in the Lynk & Co TCR is one of my favorite things to do right now, that car is a beast completely stock with the tight, twisty roads.
I haven’t noticed anything and I’m usually pretty sensitive to physics changes. I can’t guarantee that I would feel it, but odds are good that I would.
I agree with the sentiment that it’s just the significant change in map design that you’re feeling. Neither the base map nor hot wheels provide the driver-centric challenge that the Rally expansion does.
Too bad the gameplay design wastes the fantastic map design.
There is also more dust, and the car gets more dirty faster. Too bad we don’t have manually activated windshield wipers…
I noticed in the latest update that the thicker dust had finally migrated to the main map. Cars now get more filty in mainland Mexico than they did in the past.
Nice. Thanks @Runoff1999!
Thanks @B1G_A1EX and all contributers, very interesting topic.
I’m leaning more to @Runoff1999 assessment.
acting “different” Personally, I see a difference in certain parts of the track, which I find really too “handled” I understand that there are some lines, but in each track there are 3-4 points where it is necessary keep a certain speed, direction, RPMs etc. otherwise an accident follows without scaling its impact, and the time lost is always the same ammont of seconds if there is a throwing on barriers, changing direction or hard braking . The situation complements the behavior of drivatars, where every race exactly the same moments across difficulty, classes. On the steering wheel FFB does not corespond with handling when losing traction and magnetic feeling when you can turn the situation but the scenario is already given. It’s quite a shame because the rest of the track is otherwise great
