Hi everyone, I am a big Forza fan but one game sticks out to me especially, that game being Forza Horizon 1. I played the game and I absolutely love the sound of the cars in that game, they sound amazing and so realistic. Each car has its unique sound and it makes me enjoy the game so much more. The upgrades you put on the cars also alter the sound of the car in the end. Compared to Forza 5 which the cars sound somewhat doll. That being said what car do you guys believe to sound the best in the first Horizon?
Actually I’m gonna have to disagree. While FH1 may have good sound compared to, say NFS or TDU, I think it had the weakest sound balance of any Forza.
Most cars only sound good at full throttle- the Eagle Speedster, for example, is virtually silent unless you stand on the pedal. For someone like me, who enjoys relaxed cruising (especially in a game like Horizon) this was a bit of a problem. I love the lazy burble of a big V8 at low revs as I sail along at 40mph, but I’d have to crank the volume of my T.V. to 1 billion, just to hear it. Then, along comes Alice with one of her incessant nagging lines, blowing all the windows out of my house.
Tires, too. Burnouts, lockups and drifts sounded pretty good, but where was the tortured wail of a sideloaded tire in the corners? The juddering groan of threshold braking? These sounds help the Motorsports titles be so amazing, I hope FH2 sound more like them.

Funny response and I also agree! I want deeper exhaust notes. I want to decelerate and hear the exhaust pop Snaple and crack in a turbo car with a turbo back exhaust system. I want to cruise at 60mph slow down downshift and hear my Mini Cooper John cooper works pop pop snack crackle
Since this is an “arcadey” game they probably dont need those sounds to be realistic lol, theres no “motorsport” in the title, but yea alice was an annoying so and so -__-
OT: My favourites are the Saleen S5S, Saleen S7, Jag XKR-S, Ascari KZ1R, and the muscle cars
The dull squeaking when you’re rubbing a curb… the high-pitched squeak when your tires don’t grip road paint right away… There’s all manner of sounds you hear when driving that aren’t in the game. Hopefully we get some new ones with the weather.
I thought the sounds in Forza 5 were outstanding - the engines roar like thunder the the tyres screech like Godzilla. An absolute joy to drift to and I hope that sound design carries over to Horizon.
F5’s sounds may have been a bit lacking for some due to the muffling of the cockpit view. I could be wrong. However, the back-fire popping sound is much more noticeable in 3rd person view. Regardless, after watching some of the sample gameplay feeds, I think the sounds for Horizon 2 are going to be really good. Also I recall being able to hear a Bentley Cont GT’s V8 burble rather nicely as it rolled up to the startline in a pre-race cutscene, hopefully that would mean better idle noises in-game.
For my money, nothing beats the sounds of my turbo’ed Mazda RX3. I absolutely love the raspy, bumblebee, buzzing that they make, and the exhaust notes changes so much as the revs increase. Smiling just thinking about it.
You paid to get Horizon just for that?
Racer4Evr - “You paid to get Horizon just for that?”
Not sure how you came to that conclusion?

My opinion, I really like the sound of the RX-3, and must admit, I will miss the little buzz-saw in FH2. The RX-7 comes close, but the 13B is not the 12A.
