Hey guys. I made a thread similar to this back for the 2017 spec Formula 1 cars but now the 2018 spec cars are out, I’ve started making new tunes and a setup guide. These tunes are optimized for private lobby races but also work in free play too.
So what you want to create first are 4 Player Buckets. This represents the 4 engine suppliers in Formula 1. Name your buckets, “Mercedes Engine”, “Renault Engine,” “Ferrari Engine” and “Honda Engine”. Then adjust the handicap for each bucket like this: Mercedes Engine
Power Handicap: 0.8 Ferrari Engine
Power Handicap: 0.8 Renault Engine
Power Handicap: 0.75 Honda Engine
Power Handicap: 0.70 NOTE: Do NOT adjust the grip handicap settings.
Once you have created this step, you and your friends need to go into the retrospective buckets. So say you are driving as Force India or Williams, you move to the “Mercedes Engine” bucket or say you are driving as McLaren, you move to the “Renault Engine” bucket.
The final step is downloading the tune. I will have a tune for every single race once they are complete. Right now, I’m about to upload my first tune as a trial run to see what people think and to give feedback. The tune will be for the 2018 Toro Rosso Honda at Circuit De Catalunya. I know this race hasn’t been completed yet but with data from pre-season testing I think I have an accurate estimation. I’ll reply to this thread with details on how to find the tune once I upload it.
This is how I made the tunes. I took data from the 2018 Australian GP and pre-season testing. I looked at on-board telemetry to pinpoint the gear ratios a best as I can. I looked at lap times. I found the speed trap data so I knew the top speed of each car.
If anyone has any suggestions, advice criticisms or question, please message me or reply down below. If anyone wants to schedule a tutorial on how to do it over game chat or discord, message me and I can do that as well.

If it would help, I’m going to be tuning and testing out more stuff in about 30 mins for a good while. If you want an invite in party and game, I can run you through it, just PM me here.
its a great idea, and i can see you’ve put a lot of time into it…
but on a tuning standpoint, the renault isn’t the most responsive, when making small changes, and i’ve found theres only really a few tunes that work with the car, that you can feel the difference between.
the 40/40 rollbars venom style… and the glory lower front rollbars, tune…
one is very responsive, and is good at changing direction, other loves sweeping corners, but its a little slower to respond to direction change.
95% of the good tunes are one or the other…
lower aero is slower in most cases with this car too.
when comparing them from a tuning standpoint, the 90’s GP cars are so much better to tune, with many options you can use…
i have only managed to get 3 different cars out of the renault, by tuning.
i dont know anything about race cars in real life, i just play forza…
i can see you have put a heap of thought, and work into figuring out the details and stuff. i just hope the actual car in game can live up to expectations
Yeah I kinda figured out the 40/40 roll bar thing. Gonna update the Toro Rosso tonight with that. Also noticed maxing out the front suspension, bump stiffness and rebound stiffness makes it a heap more realistic. What I also found that’ll make the tunes more realistic is the amount of rake each car has, so I can apply that soon too. Thanks for the feedback though!
