Any tips on how to get these cars to stick? Especially the mclaren. I tried loading up the downforce but that doesnt really work. Tried loosening the rear end, and then adding differential, but still i feel like im just moving sliders. Does anybody that likes to tune these have any tips for me?

Tires - 28.0/28.0
camber - -1.6/-2.1
Toe - Rear -0.2
Caster - 7.0
Antil-Roll - 21.6/15.6
Springs - 248.7/373.9
Rebound - 4.3/7.3
Bump - 3.4/4.9
Brakes - your preff
Diff - 60/10

Try this. It is a base tune I got from the tuning app. Will need to adjust things accordingly but it is a good starting point.

Which app forza tune? It seems a little looser and more consistant, but i still feel like theres more traction to be had. I havent had the time to play with the settings but im just really lookin for a good base tune anyway.

Adjusted items compared to the tune above:

Camber -2.0 / -2.2
Springs 280 / 340 (maybe softer still at the rear).
Rebound 5.0/7.3
Bump 3.4 / 4.2
Diff 30 / 10.

The app seems to work decent for me, but it spits out such similar numbers I want to either doubt the app or the complexity that I thought forzA had.

I use telemetry to adjust camber, some cars just don’t use as much but the app always gives about the same numbers, with rear being higher(more negative) than front.

Tire pressure is always 28 on the app. That’s fine with me.

The springs seem to work but Idk how they come up with it. I do 70% of the proportionate weight on each side and that works too.

Am I setting it too high because the spring setting I’d per wheel? Meaning, am I doing the math but needing to divide by 2 to make it per wheel?

Please try this tune for the 1976 #1 Scuderia Ferrari 312 T2 . This was tuned with No Brake Assist, Normal Steering, TCS off and Manual Shifting w/o clutch. This tune somehow made the 312 T2 more stable for me. I got a 1:48:200 in Prague-Full in the tuning test runs. Please give me your impressions on the tune so I can make the needed adjustments or corrections. I have shared it also online as R900 Final. Thank you.

After a few hour of tests and looking at recommendations from this forum, I did much change to my R900 Final tune above for the Scuderia Ferrari 312 T2. I did not delete the share though, it is still available for download. I have created a new one instead named R900 Final v2… I believe this time this tune is more stable over all. I’ve reduced the spinning-out of the rear wheel, adjusted tire pressure to 32 PSI (after full 2-laps) and +/-229F degrees temperature almost even for all tires, maybe better traction, less wobbling or bouncing of front of the car, possibly better grip on turning even using less aero than before which makes it much faster also, stable on the straights, less swinging of the rear of the car while doing small quick turns, better gear ratio distribution, possibly less understeer on some turns in Prague, my test track.

Anyway, that’s tuning following basic rules and recommendations using the following steps: Spring, Differential, ARB, Dampening, Gearing, Aero, Brake, Alignment, Gearing . Let’s see how this will work out. By the way, this tune was created still with No Brake Assist, Normal Steering, TCS off and Manual Shifting w/o clutch. Is it really that much better? Well, I have my own opinion of it. But your comments and suggestions are always very much welcome.

Here is the detailed tune below for the R900 Final v2. (yeah I know it’s supposed to be “Final” so why the v2? +>)

Brakes upgraded.

Forgive me, I made some small revision just now for much more grip and improved transmission.

Can I just clarify something? When you say you tried “adding differential” do you mean increasing the accel diff %? If so move it the other way. For test purposes put accel on zero and check its impact. Increase it to 10 and 20 and see what it does.

Have you tried any of the other suggestions in the thread and have any of them worked for you?

I would be happy to try to tune the McLaren from scratch and see what I can come up with. Is there a track you want to run it on? Do you use TCS or not?

I recently uploaded a tune for the Ferrari for Nurb GP which has a top 60 time (I think its top 20 hardcore). If you wanted to try that and let me know if you like it and I can try to tune the McLaren for a similar feel.

These tunes are great, and by adding differential i meant moving the sliders right. I can usually find a balance with downforce and tweak the rest of the suspension accordingly, but i havent been able to do that in these cars. I tested them at spa since its my favorote track and i always lose it just when i get to the top of eu rouge, and those two sweeping high speed left handers. I feel with those wide tires and these cars being F1, they should be able to take these turns either by slightly lifting or flat out. I want to make a base tune for the retro gp, and despite the sound, the nice shiny tailpipes and that beautiful prancing horse on the steering wheel, id rather NOT do it in the ferarri. Anybody whose either seen the movie or is a fan of James Hunt/Mclaren can understand. I run no assists and use manual clutch. Im not a download other peoples tunes kind of guy, id much rather use open source so i can at least learn something. But thats only for hot lapping or rivals. I hit the top 1% easily in other peoples tunes, especially in the higher classes, so my driving skill is there. Despite my basic knowledge of tuning i like to run my own tunes in career. I start the first race with a stock car, or my own base tune if its a race car, and slowly raise the difficulty and upgrade/tweak the tune as the season progresses. I love both cars, thats why i would like tips on the ferarri as well.

Ok here are my tunes:

Ferrari

Upgrade brakes, snorkel optional

It has run 1.54.580 at Nurburgring GP #59 for now and as comparison to above tune I ran it at Prague Full and set a 1.44.479 which is just outside top 200.

…And finally (oh boy), here is my 1976 #11 Team McLaren M23 F1 tune. The car is more stable, but not so much “oomph” as the Scuderia 312 T2, which is actually a beast to tame.

Hope you have fun this this one. I’m always open for comments. I have also shared this as M23 R900 Final for your download. As always tuned with no Brake Assist, Normal Steering, TCS off and Manual Shifting w/o clutch.

Just upgrade the brakes before tuning.

The Scuderia Ferrari 312 T2 R900 Final v2 tune just did a new record for me of 1:48:183. Yup I know it’s just at the 1949 spot on the leaderboard below the very long list of the top 1% of players. This is definitely due to my “still-a-long-way-to-improve” driving skills. But with a better driver, this tune will probably go much further.

Please like my shared tunes.

Thank you to forzamotorsport.net forum.

I will test it for you later today.

Thank you so much.

Bogsle - awesome tune. I have not downloaded yet but will and it will get a like. I just manually tuned the car as per your post above.

I ran it at Prague Full and just snuck into the top 100 with a 1.43.4.

Here is a video of my run. For some reason watching within one drive is giving me a garbage picture but if I download it and then watch it the picture is much better.

I will run my Nurb tune again at Prague and yours at Nurb GP to get a better all round opinion of it but it looks like a very good tune.

'Appreciate it very much for taking the time to test my tune. 'Looking forward to your Nurb GP driving test comments.

On the other hand, after driving your McLaren M3 tune I will have to honestly say I like it much more than my tune. Truly, I felt it had more power and grip. I’m making this the base tune for my M3, and I hope you won’t mind if I share it also to my 11 year-old son who plays FM5 with me. Thank you for your open tunes.

It is probably no surprise that your Prague tune runs better at Prague than my Nurb GP tune and vice versa.

There are a couple of turns on Nurb GP that my tune takes quicker and I need to back off with your tune. Other than that it runs well.

Probably explains why mine feels looser at Prague too.

My tune is open source now. Happy for you to do anything with it.

i will give it a try later today.

To stabilise on gas move accel left. To stabilise off gas move decel right.

Bogsles tune is def more stable than mine, and is easier to drive but I just improved at Prague in my tune.
