Noticed the car was snappy on braking in career mode. I literally spent a minute on this car but I put the diff at 50/5 and dropped the rear springs a ton and that was it lol. The car was a lot more stable as result. Idk if its a fast tune because I’m just learning how to drive the cars, but I wasn’t spinning out randomly in career.
You must have very good control of the acceleration. Lowering the diff accel value was my way of compensating to prevent spin-out of the drive wheel, which I hope to learn to control in time. May I ask for the value of your rear springs to try it out and see if it will work for me as well? I wanted to help out and was aiming more towards grip as per the concern raised here, second was stability. I’m glad the car turned out a quick one as well.
Its a shame not too many people tune these cars. I see too many short threads about these 2 cars and it seems that either nobody knows how to tune them, or its a big secret people dont like sharing. I spent enough time with both M23 tunes, (mostly at spa) to really get a feel for them. Bogsle, you created a high speed monster, once i had the confidence to take alot of turns flat out, i realised how stable it was. The car was hard to turn in, but had a lot of mid/corner exit grip. It seemed like the faster i went the more grip it had. SatNite, your car had wicked turn in, but i had to watch the throttle more as it tended to slide under too much power. I have to test it for a lower speed track as i suspect there is where it will shine more. I dont know how you guys changed the whole characteristics of the cars like that, but you both did great jobs. Ive been working on tuning for years and cant wrap my mind around weather to add ARB, Spring rate, rebound, bump, or differential. Maybe one day ill get it, but until then i need to keep asking guys like you 2 for help. Thanks, a bunch.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for trying it out and for the comments. SatNite was the first one to inspire me to push the tuning of the two '76 F1s on this thread. But as more of you join in and give feedback, oh boy, I’m going all the way tuning.
Im just glad ive inspired people to take the time to enjoy these legendary cars. At first i was weary about them being in the game, but after learning about the Real history of both of them, its nice to be able to drive them close to their limits and be competitive. I mean niki lauda almost burned to death, and 3 weeks later he was back racing again and competive enough to be able to defend his lead. And James hunt has been trying to beat niki lauda his whole career, and he finally did it once he got the only car he’s ever driven that was barely competitive enough to hang with ferarri.
I will have a go at Spa but yeah my tunes were done at Nurb GP and do require some throttle control.
I am trying to find the tuning guide that really helped me with suspension tuning. It had a flow chart showing what to do under different circumstances.
Also Bogsle’s Ferrari tune is now sitting at #68 at Prague Full. But more importantly it is ranked #8 out of the no tcs runners. It also has another half a second in it as I did a rewound 1.42.4 due to that lovely chicane.
Guys, I am really sorry if some of you are getting annoyed by now, but I promise this will be the last update.
It is because of your comments that I am inspired to improve further the tunes that I share to the community. Thank you all for your help and patience.
Here they are:
Update shared tune for the Scuderia Ferrari 312 T2 file name = R900 Final v3 (better control, more grip and stability)
Update shared tune for the McLaren M23 file name = M23 R900 Final 2 (better control, less sliding of rear-end)
The older shared tunes are still there. I understand that each one of us have different driving styles. So I thought to leave the old tunes for you to choose from, 2 for the McLaren M3 and there are 3 for the Ferrari 312 T2. Have fun! =>
Here are their Open Tunes for you. The updated settings are those in parenthesis ( new ). This is so that you can see where I made the “improvements” on the tunes.
Scuderia Ferrari 312 T2
Tires:
Front = 27.5
Rear = 27.5
i gave your v2 tune a try, it is so awesome and easy to handle great work on that setup. keep up the good work, this is the best 312 T2 i’ve every raced without TCS. the time is also nice. around Prague Full a 1:41,638 #26 and #2 hardcore ranking. i lost 2 tenths but i am pretty happy with that, Prague full is an annoying track on the end with the chicane…
the accel deccel setup is well done!
Please try also the third and last version of the 312 T2 shared tune R900 Final v3. I have posted also the Open Source form of it here. 'Hope you will like it too.
