I was on vacation last week, and since I had a free trial month of Game Pass Ultimate from a device I bought, I figured I’d try logging into the cloud version of the game to check off a few daily tasks. (I then swiftly discovered that the cloud version stupidly requires a controller to even start, so I had to use some janky work-around with a free trial of a controller emulation browser extension, but that’s another story.) Fired up the game, and when it started to my surprise I got a message stating that I’d received all of the limited-time promo items from when the game launched: the OPI Ford GT, the Ford De Luxe FE, and the Color Pop shirt and emote. I’ve never tried to enter a code for any of these items, and yet here they all were. Needless to say I was amused, and it was fun to drive around for a bit in both of the cars.
Anyways, I figured that it was some cloud weirdness that wouldn’t keep when I was back at home on my local copy, and I was right. I still have both cars in my garage, but selecting either one gives me a message stating that I haven’t purchased the DLC and prompts me to remove them. I’ll probably keep them around for the novelty of having them in the list. The Color Pop tee seems to have completely vanished from the tops list, which I guess makes sense since I don’t think that one even shows up if you don’t own the DLC. But the weird part is that I still seem to own and be able to equip the emote. Don’t know why, but I’ll take it.
