Rally springs help

I’m trying to make some pure offroad specialist vehicles and having trouble with rally springs.

Just wondering if there is any rule of thumb for setting them? Default is very soft and max height. I guess max height makes sense but the softness (I think) makes them way too bouncy for my tastes. I am experimenting with lower height and much more stiffness but not sure I am doing it right? Also no clue on the dampers.

I never used rally springs in H2 and feel comfortable with tuning street springs. Just wondering if there are any basic approaches to rally springs and then tweak to preference.

Thanks

Depends on the track.

If there are no jumps or I am will to risk it for 1 jump, I use rally springs, 1 click from minimum ride height and about 30% stiffness (approx but may tweak from there).

If there are jumps I use max height and minimum stiffness.

Dampers I use what I suspect is out of the ordinary settings so not sure if it will help you.

EDIT: by bouncy do you mean when you land a jump it compresses too much or comes back up too much? If the former then you may want stiffer springs or bump, if the latter you may want less rebound.

If you use my calculator I can help with some settings.

For off road I usually set my stiffness to 30-50%, but if I want to do mostly pavement and some dirt paths I will try something between 40% and 75%. Ride height depends on how much suspension travel you need so I check that in telemetry.

edit: It used to be metric only but I just added another tab with imperial values, just select the one you need at the bottom of the page.

Usually when I tune rally springs I run the rebound a bit higher than stock, I do this because the stock setup on the rally springs is rather bouncy and messes you up on landing

Thanks for the feedback!

I have been toying and testing and think I finally figured out what I like and what feels good for my style of driving.
I have kept springs at the very soft default settings
I have made the already soft bump a little softer
I have set rebound to max stiffness
I have set ride height to a couple of ticks above the lowest setting

Unless you are gonna be going through a lot of water I prefer the lower height settings but if you have more than a puddle or two it probably needs to be higher. The default max height just seems too unstable for me and I found myself rolling a couple of times because of it.

I am just loving the dirt trails in the outback. The Dry Reservoir Trail is my absolute favorite race in the game. You can be very aggressive with that course and it is just flat out fun. That is where I have done my testing and need to try some other courses and some actual cross country routes but feel I am finally on the right track for setting these springs.
