Ride height correlation to springs

Started play again…Played since the first release and I still can’t get this tuning thing down.

Ok, stupid question, as I reduce weight with upgrades I soften the springs to compensate. However, reducing the ride height -springs will have to be stiffer to keep from bottoming out, right?

So, the question is do you tuners have a rule of thumb when you lower the ride height…what adjustments to springs automatically? Yes, I know you do it by feel, but what do you do automatically?

To me this is the first adjustment and should be simple, I get hung up on it when I should be messing around with upgrades. I want to get this done fast and move on!

Thanks!

From my testing ride height has no correlation to spring rates, provided you don’t have extremely soft springs which will hurt handling anyway.

Use ride height as an additional stabilizing factor much like aero. For every car there is a sweet spot for ride height that maximizes positive effects (improved braking, acceleration, turning) without introducing too much negative effects due to raised center of mass.

Modern cars usually don’t need a ride height above 4 inch though unless circumstances are extreme, for instance if you have high power builds.
