Race Regulations system and revised Track Limits in FM7

Those drivers IRL with penalties are punished if they gained an advantage when going off track.
It’s unfair if you go just an inch off track and get a 4 second penalty if you’re not fighting for a position.
I really hope if this goes live that it will be optional to turn it on and off in private lobbies and single player.
Could you imagine this as mandatory for actual endurance racing like they do with TORA or ForzaRC?

As much as some people dislike the new track limit penalty system it is still WAY better than what it was prior! Also keep in mind that this is a work in progress…hence the beta hopper.
They are learning where they also can improve on it. I am confident that it will get tweeted several times until they are completely satisfied. For those of you who choose to bash the Devs, Turn 10, and players who are in favor of this…keep in mind that Turn 10 is collecting data to make thier decisions and blowing smoke in thier faces is probably not going to make any difference to them. I also feel that a respectful comment or idea will get discussed with them. Professionalism goes a long way in relaying your messages. Just my thoughts though.

I haven’t played in the Multiplayer hoppers for a long time, I found league had better quality players, except for the track cutters.

I gave the beta hopper a go yesterday for an hour or so and I have to say it was the best online Forza racing I’ve had in a long time.

Once collision penalties are added to, Forza online will be great again.

I take it eventually the race regs will be rolled out to the whole of online except for party hoppers.

I racing in the FRR beta, on 3 tracks, testing the gain of advantage with a but. I was in the opposite direction of the other competitors. Without completing any lap in the right direction, out of 20 competitors, I came in seventh, and I still won 4 positions for penalties of others. I was the first of those who did not complete the race. I think it’s a bug in counting the number of laps x race time. That should be corrected.

Edited: I suggest black flag if someone crosses the starting line, in reverse, if someone racing in the reverse direction for more than 10s.

They probably behave quite bad with a controller as well…they are stock. Keep in mind that the limitations are the same for everybody.

Well I’m talking about feedback forces, which you do not have when using the controller, sometimes the force disappears in the middle of the curve creating an oversteer effect, or when it relaxes acceleration. Unexpected effects, which do not appear when it is possible to use a car garage stock. It seems that some preset is missing in the configuration. I realize this problem whenever I use a rental car in any situation of FM7.

Well… The white lines are the limits in Forza then. So be it. I’ll stop complaining.

Well, to move back on topic… in my experience thus far, everything seems to be working properly. The Penalty Systems has only penalized me when I have actually made a mistake and cut in too much on a corner, or over-extended one. Getting pushed or rammed off the track has not resulted in a penalty. Overshooting (running wide) has not resulted in a penalty either.

As for Track Limits, I don’t necessarily have a problem with them; however, I have found I do need to keep the Track Limit Line on to know where the limits are. As I recall, it appeared there were a few areas where the Track Limits are on the tarmac. Meaning, without the line, if I just used the tarmac as a reference, I would have been “Off-Track” in some spots. I’m not positive (I didn’t take notes) but I believe the tracks in question were Silverstone and Rio? (the track with the round-about at the flowerbed/fountain that the rammers get stuck in).

The exit of turn 6 at Long Beach includes a section of tarmac that isn’t considered part of the track and will dirty a lap if you extend too much. There may be another bit on the straight out of the final turn as well, but I can’t recall just now.

“track with the round-about at the flowerbed/fountain”

Long Beach?

Sounds right… Thank you.

That would be my guess too.

Now with penalties, it’s very apparent how bad the track limits are lol, looks like they will have to redo a lot of them.

The track limits in FM7 are what they are, deal with it.

Arguing over the track limits in FM7, based on the fact that running wider on turn X at track Y is allowed by Z sanctioning body, is like arguing over the 55mph speed limit on interstate highways in Washington DC, based on the fact that 85mph is allowed on the Texas State Highway 130.

Nope, they are bad and your example is horrible.

Track limits made by someone that doesn’t know motorsport and doesn’t watch motorsport. Very easy to draw a line around the tarmac and call it a job well done.

Disagree with you totally.

How does Turn 10 account for every racing series that has their own track limits? On the same track, the limits can change wildly depending on the series. The best way to do it is the way Turn 10 has done it. A very easy to understand, easy to see, consistent track limit for every course. Heck you can even turn on massive neon track limits that tell you if you’re getting close to going past what is allowed. If you’re extending or cutting at that point, it’s on you, not Turn 10 imo.

Here’s an example:

“the intent of IndyCar has been to not have to reinforce track limits when it’s not needed.”

Which comes back to my original point. You can’t have the track limit system be accurate for every track, so If you’re going to choose a track limit system, which series do you choose it from?

Not asking that. But if you run wide on the astroturf that’s within the limits, but not in Forza. The track limits are just a line around the tarmac, it’s not realistic in any series and it’s the most lazy form of track limits. If you call this a job well done, well, all I can say is I feel very sorry for you. But then again this is Forza, the meme of the racing games, so at the end of the day it’s whatever, pretty much everyone that wanted to actually race moved on, so they can do whatever they want, the current players will be fine with anything.
