Forza Race Regulations | Public Beta Feedback Thread - May 2019 [UPDATE May 29 3:39 p.m.]

[UPDATE May 29 3:39 p.m. – Today we released an update to the current FRR ruleset that addressed issues around penalties incurred at corner exit and when leaving the track on long straights. For more information on this change, see the detailed explanation on page 2 of this thread.]

Welcome to the Official Forza Race Regulations feedback thread for May 2019. As with last month’s thread, we invite you to share your collected, structured feedback with us, which we will share with the development team.

To keep things organized and friendly, we ask for a few guidelines to be followed:

  1. Please stay on topic. We greatly appreciate your passion for the whole game, but we are focusing on feedback regarding Forza Race Regulations as it exists in April 2019.
  2. Please be constructive and respectful. The more constructive your suggestions are (specific examples are always appreciated), the more it helps us when we review the feedback.
  3. Please use this as a place to post your feedback overview, not to discuss the feature or other people’s feedback. This helps us to collate and pass on your feedback. If you would like to discuss the feature or your feedback ideas with others, you can do so here on dedicated discussion thread sin the Forza Forums or on our Discord server.
  4. We will collect, review and pass on your feedback to the development team, but please be aware that we may not be able to act on or implement every suggestion.
  5. When we make changes based on your feedback, they won’t be visible right away - it may take some time before a specific item gets addressed.

In May we’ve made some important additions to the FRR system, including:

  1. More granular penalties (now measured in .25-second increments)
  2. Players can now select the FRR rule set in private lobbies.
  3. Though not directly FRR-related, players can now enable ghosted backmarkers in most single- and multiplayer modes in FM7.

For more on the additions to Forza Race Regulations in May, check out the full announcement story here on the site.

Looking ahead, the team is still hard at work on the FRR feature set. Future updates will include penalizing car-to-car collisions in the game. Look for more details on all of these updates in the future.

I Have a problem!

When FRR mode is activated, in private multiplayer lobby, the (Y) spectator option does not appear. This makes it difficult to live the race, online through the TV channel.

This is a known issue that will be fixed in a future update. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks for the promptness in the quick response.

Off topic but will the Auto-ghosting feature in Forza Horizon 4 be coming to Motorsport 7? I think that it is a great system and could fix a lot of problems. And will FRR be coming to the majority of lobbies in multiplayer, or is this just a test for Forza Motorsport 8 as is the experimental drag system. I would love to see both systems implemented into the base game instead of just a one off test. As for auto-ghosting, I think that it has potential and can be altered to suit the Motorsport series. By implementing that, the collisions penalty system that I hear you guys are working on, and a the improved corners cutting penalties system, online Forza lobbies might not be as Hellish as they currently feel.

PS: Please continue working on experimental drag. It’s a great idea and i think it is ready to replace the current drag system.

Great job on updating the system it’s a learning curve for all

1st feedback there still a harshness to some penalties received when off track 3 wheel split sec got 3.75 for it seems unlike I gained even half that

2nd feedback you can slow down off track and you won’t receive a penalty is it possible somehow to have visual aid to help understand this

3rd feedback we need other lobbies class racing gt racing private lobbies are great but not if you can’t get a community to try it out

Thankyou

FEEDBACK

2 clips of penalties I consider harsh do I deserve one I’d say yes

Newest update seems to have broken the beta hopper synch with the leaderboards(haven’t tested other hoppers). Entries in the leaderboard are old or missing all together.

I have a idea to stop the corner cutting like crazy to DNF everyone method. The person who crosses the line first should have their penalty time added to the 30 second race end timer. That way the timer would be for their “actual” finishing time, plus the 30 seconds. I probably didn’t explain it well enough but if you guys do, please implement this into the game.

Please allow turning FRR on for single player mode as well

More info on penalties

Time you where off track
Illegal overtakes
Maybe more info while off track to avoid the penalty like OFF GAS Meter which fills up once it’s full you should be clear unless you have already 're entered the track all ready

Ran some races with the new update and still think the penalties are inconsistent and unfair in some cases. I have gone off and gotten a 3.5 second penalty while loosing 4 seconds on the lap. This happened a few times. The system doesn’t allow for small mistakes to be forgiven it feels like having to run a street circuit. If the track limits were more relaxed and similar to the limits that real racing series sort of use. There is still a few tracks that need some fixed even with current limits.

Incremental penalties are a step in the right direction. A major issue is making a mistake, going wide, losing time, THEN getting hit with a penalty on top of all that. It happens a lot, and it detracts from the experience.

Even more of an issue is this “sticky car” physics. I don’t know what happened, but cars regularly stick LF/RR or visa versa until one or both are off track or stopped. People are beginning to weaponize it for really effective PIT maneuvers, which is frustrating. Along the same vein, this penalty system is still encouraging people to use competitors as braking zones, pushing them wide (causing penalties as described above in many cases), and seeing no repercussions for it.

I hope Super Gt doesn’t mind me post his past stream here but he did a race regs stream very good insight and good feedback for you unless you have already seen it

Hi, playing Forza since 3. Also got Forza 7 at releases. Played a couple of days, single player and a bit of Multiplayer. Leagues did not exist at release in 7. Well, leveled to 80 and gave up. Mostly because of common multiplayer issues.
I’m only good for mid field speed in clean and fair races. …
Found FRR videos on YouTube and gave it a try yesterday. I’m already impressed. The best online races I had ever in a public lobby. It is fun again.
It may need some fine tuning, that is what a beta is for. However, it is a giant step forward.
Thanks Dev’s, I hope to see this in Leagues as soon as possible. Probably I’m back at Forza.

The Monza Issue

Have senn this only in Monza for now. Someone totally abusing all cutting can gain more than 45 seconds advantage over the second placed (whatever the penalty for the driver is) and so DNF all the rest of the field.

Posible solutions from my point of view:

  • Define a maximum penalty a driver is disqualified for (and therefore removed from race immediately)
  • start the race timeout when the 1st driver is finishing plus the penalty for this driver (or add the 1st drivers penalty o the timeout)
  • maybe add a option for a drive trough penalty, removing a certain amount of penalty time when done. At a certain penalty and/or number of penalties the drive trough must be taken or driver is disqualified (removed from race)

I agree on all three of them, and your second point is exactly what I was thinking to stop this problem. I don’t belive that it is too difficult to add this into the game. I would also love to see the high speed colision detection system brought over from FH4 because thaat could stop most of the first corner carnage.
PS: Keep working on experimental drag T10
PPS: Please let us remove the roof lights to the C7 ZR1, they’re so ugly. Otherwhise just add in the regular ZR1 (and the Apollo IE as well while you’re at it pls)

Agree with the FRR System!

Nuerburgring, Grand Prix, the last chicane can be bypassed without any time penalty by driving to the given back door.
This cause a great advantage.

To make the system fairer enlarge the distance limit by the dimensions of the curb (e.g. +40).
This will cause the possibility to use the curbs full and have a little bit room on the green. (e.g. 2 wheels on the green) and it is much fair on the straight and will not punish every swerved.
And, I think, it can be done without recalculate the lane dimension or manually adjusting. It is a simple formula.

introducing race regs and penalties is a good thing but imo it would’ve been much better n much easier to bring back custom public lobbies aswell
