[RACE] gresnik's livery gallery

Hey everyone.

I’ve always been inspired by this community and the quality of design work we can find in all the Forza games. Lately I’ve been trying to put more effort into my own creations… attempting to shift away from generic stripes and colours with stock logos, and creating more “original” work.

Just like everything else in this game… results are better as you put in more time and effort.

I’ll post a few photos in here. I’d love some feedback and advice on how to get better.
Thanks.

My most recent design was for the 1971 #2 Ferrari Automobili 312 P.

I’m part of a race series with a bunch of friends and this car was selected for the next race. Part of the process is creating a proper livery for the car.
Here’s what I came up with:

I created all of the logos, except for the generic Xbox One logo. I guess a Martini race livery doesn’t actually belong on a Ferrari, but it seems to work for the most part.

My best advice would be to say, make sure you are going to really enjoy what it is that you choose to paint gresnik, because some of the things you choose to paint can take a while to create and get yourself lined up with a good Doc, movies or music to paint along to lol.

Martini paint is looking clean, great way to start! Great work around the wheel arches, very smooth.

Whats next?

Thanks for the feedback, Pacman!

I’m finding Spotify to be great help in focusing during my design-time. Pick a playlist and just let the tunes flow… it’s pretty awesome.

I designed a livery for the '17 Nissan GT-R previous to that Ferrari. This was the original colour variation that I came up with:

I made an alternate colour variation that I entered into last week’s fm.net livery contest. It ended up getting picked, which was awesome. All things considered, everything on this car was pretty simple to do, just took time to do it all.

This is the alternate (winning) colour combo:

One more colour combo, this photo turned out quite nice:

Your layout is very strong gresnik! Some sweet layouts you have going on there! I say that because that is where I am lazy lol. What I like about the Nissan is the angles on the rear. It seams quite simple to look at but your catching it very nice. Blending over panels from sides to top can easily go unnoticed but credit to where its due.

Fruitster made some of the most wonderful images anyone ever seen on Forza but what he also done very well was execute beautiful layouts where he would nail the curves of the car to compliment the overall finish. I suggest you go and have a peek at some of the F2 threads and take inspiration from there! Your going in a good direction and maybe future collab’s would be where you might excel to push you that bit more but this version of Forza makes colabs a little out of touch unless anyone has any ideas?

I love the red, black and silver colour combo!

Consider a Red Bull or a Ferrari to push yourself a little. The prancing horse and the bull will ask you some good questions! My law to myself is always to say, if the logos fall down then the whole car falls down! Nail the logos and your going to be heading in the right direction! people love great looking logos so upload them if you are comfortable with that?

Keep painting and enjoying the tunes gresnik!

Kind regards

Nice paints. Keep it up.

Good stuff. :+1:

Thanks Kenny!!

Porsche Cayman GT4:

I know the Rothmans/Porsche livery is pretty common, but I still think it’s super-cool. It should be pretty easy to swap these decals onto other Porsches, but I’m going to try some other ideas in the meantime.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback so far!

The Cayman looks ace! I might even swap my current livery for the Rothmans, good job!

Real-life stuff has been taking up way too much of my time lately. I was inspired last week by the Saleen S7 that I used for a few races in the Supercar Renaissance Ghost event. The car was a total beast so I just had to put a custom livery on it.

I’m re-using plenty of my custom decals on this one, but it totally works. I’m very pleased with the results… let me know what you think.

Great looking design… which to me has a real retro vibe… :+1:t2::+1:t2:

Time to update this thread…

We used the Z4 M Coupe in a series a few months ago. This is purely an evolution of my generic “stripes and decals” formula, but I guess it turned out alright.

The TAG Heuer and Pfaff Tuning decals have been in heavy rotation in most of the designs that I have been making since this one. Just this past week I finally added some new decals to switch things up a little. I need to switch up my door sticker decal, moving forward, with a different sponsor. Right now I have one “FedEx” and one “DHL” which are super-realistic, but I’m just trying to avoid too much repetition.

Let me know what you think:

I had a few Porsche models in progress while I was working on some new decals. In the meantime, I put together a design for the Porsche Macan Turbo.

The Porsche 70 logo and the Rennsport Reunion logo were new for this one. I might do an alternate version with fewer logos, I like this design, but it might look cool if it was a little more simplified:

The Acura NSX came up in a #forzathon and I ended up throwing a livery together for it.

Same idea with some simple striping and re-using the same logos from previous designs, but the finished product turned out quite well.

I was using the Ferrari F12berlinetta during the recent Forza Horizon 4 Super GT weekly #forzathon. I took some time to make a proper livery for it in FM7, then exported into FH4 after completion.

I started switching things up a little… I’m trying to stripe the car to accentuate the actual bodywork of the car, following body creases or whatever. Such a subtle change, but the end result is a bit of a more unique and original look. I was still re-using most of my logos to save time (trying to maximize my time in FH4 still) . The Puma logo was new for this one.

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT-R was part of the same #forzathon as the Ferrari F12berlinetta above. I liked the car and it seemed like a great candidate for a custom livery.

Same idea behind this one… cool stripes with nice logos:

Porsche unveiled the new 935 recently… it’s based on the 911 GT2RS, using a traditional Martini livery.

I was inspired to make a Martini livery for the 911GT2RS, re-creating the “Martini 50” logo that was shown on the new 935. This one is also using the Porsche logos that I first used on the Macan Turbo above. The “Porsche Design Timepieces” is new… and I finally finished up the Michelin logos that I have been working on for forever. I have a couple of different versions of the Michelin logo… I’m very familiar with the Michelin Man and his voluptuous body now.

I’m really happy with how this one turned out. I have another 2-3 Porsche designs that I’m trying to finish up before I’m overloaded with real-life work stuff.

Finished up my 2019 Porsche 911 GT3RS livery.

Honestly there’s not much room for originality with a Rothmans-Porsche livery. I added a few personal touches, and I like the overall improvement in level of quality over my Rothmans-Porsche Cayman GT4 livery from earlier this year (posted above). The linework seems to flow better, and, of course, more custom logos.

Let me know what you think:

Obviously Porsche holds a pretty special place in my heart.

I started this 2014 Porsche 918 Spyder design about a month ago… I was bored and just picked this car and started laying out a basic design. That basic design turned into the Porsche white/red/grey/black livery scheme… and then after that it was just creating logos to tie it all together. This is an homage to the 2017 919 Hybrid… it’s not an exact replica, but a tribute.

I complicated the car with the centreline hood/roof striping. I created a simple overlap with the diagonals coming from the sides to the front and back of the car. In the end, I added the gradients to create the 3D effect and it seemed to tie everything together nicely.

Really pleased with how the logos turned out as well.
