[PSA] Don't use Race tires in B-Class Mid-Engine playlist. This is best open class playlist

I’m saying this from an enjoyment perspective. I have left Open Class racing ever since people started abusing meta cars with Race tyres. Somehow, the race length of this Mid-Engine playlist seriously favors people who are using stock tyres or street tyres. Sure, the cars equipped with race tyre build are fast over one lap. But come race, the people who used to abuse these meta tunes are put down in trash. You will keep up or stay in the lead for 70% of the race, but after that, good luck. I love this playlist, it’s fun and unpredictable and the med-long races are just pure dream.

Good job T10

EDIT: The 550S is still broken and can be abused even in this playlist (To some extent)

I’ve been having great fun in these races too!
There’s a lot of variation in the cars, from almost stock modern sports cars to supercars from the 60s and a lot in between. Personally I like the vintage supercars and racecars on sports tyres (become vintage racing tyres on these cars). These tyres just turn yellow in the last lap or two, so it is possible.

This is a great setup for races and hope to see more of them in the future!

Ya I’ve really enjoyed this playlist because sport tires are the meta for the first time ever lol

All it needs is unpredictable weather

Had some good races so far too, not settled on a car yet but NSX 92 seems solid.

Your comment does highlight however that “meta” is variable based on what rules are presented in a game/race.

“Meta” means Most Effective Tactic Available, not “Exomotive Exocet on Race Tyres”. That just happens to be the meta in specific race structures (like Short races with no build restrictions) :slightly_smiling_face:

Also, if one is playing to win, then they should absolutely abuse the most effective tactic available. That’s what competition is all about, finding and exploiting advantages for success :sunglasses:

If it’s “abuse” to use whatever is most competitive (“meta cars with race tires” in many cases), then how is it not also the exact same type of “abuse” to use stock/street/sport tires when an event’s format favors stock/street/sport tires?

The word “abuse” seems unfitting for describing whatever valid/legitimate/allowed methods get the best results.

It’s mostly issue with soft tyre abuse, in general race tyres (medium) are on same pace as street/sport (depending on track tho, cuz u might lack grip in some cases), but in C-B class u are able to finish some races on soft tyres, and this is broken, and should be called abuse :sunglasses: E/D class are basically all about soft abuse.

This series is the best yet. So many fun builds to try out.

I’ve only used sports once and they gave up with 2 laps on Yas. Car was heavy though. What cars are good on sports?

The very light ones like the Porsche 550.
I use only street tires builds simply because it’s more convenient.
BMW M1, Alfa 4C for normal tracks and Toyota MR2 SC for power stuff like Daytona.
All no aero, no rollcage and no ugly max size rims.

Very fun series with some high quality racing. The occasional Porsche 550 that murders the lobby is expected.

I just refuse to race against them, I’ll just quit the lobby, if it’s small.

I thought I’d try using ballast to even out the weight and use the PI for some power in the light cars. Spent the morning building a bunch on street. Looking forward to trying them out later

I’ve won a few races in the last lap(s) because the sport builds ran into medium wear.
On Road Atlanta short sports will go into med wear during lap 14/16. The guy in front lost almost 7 seconds on me then.

I’m also looking forward to finding more fun street builds.

Same. Akatoyaa beat me in the last few laps round yas. First race and car wasnt up to it. Lead from pole till lap 14 then got dropped. Lesson learnt.

Most of them should be good but you gota do race weight on them

Both nsx
Renault 5 turbo
Clio v6

The 5 turbo is a little heavy on tire usage I had 4 red tires on end of lap 13 out of 15 on sebrring short

But I used nsx on vir north and only got 2 red on back half of last lap

I’m going to share a nsx tune / build here and on my tune post later today

So are we saying sports are the optimal build? Son spent 3 hours building cars that sub optimal? Great :joy::joy:

The Emira seems very strong on its stock (street) tyres so definitely some cars which will work with those tyres.

Had two races last night in the NSX using a modified @JSR_Chronic tune. Really good races. Won one and 5th in another (climbed back up from last after a 1st corner shunt). A Clio on slicks was faster in quali but needed to pit in the race. The many Emira’s were close too.
