It certainly was factory finish, but sadly, true metallic finishes from factory are missing in this iteration of Forza. You can make a 'sudo-metallic by playing with the hue and brightness etc controls.
Unfortunately it’s not a real metallic, but it’s the best we’re going to get thus far.
True true, I made a purple metalflake that’ll do. I just thought it strange: here’s one of the coolest Mopars of the late 90’s, but you can’t get it in purple? You gotta DIY?
Hey there B Wald, The Metallic Purple was only available in 1997, likely one reason it was left out since they are using 2000 as the year.
I did the purple metalic flake paint too, came out pretty nice.
Hahahhaa, never heard it called that before!
Yeah, that was not a great color choice, especially since they could have went with ‘Plum Crazy / In Violet’ if they wanted to do a retro Mopar Purple.
I put up a prismatic purple paint with graphics yesterday. Look under my drivatar name - Harpman54 while searching for the Plymouth Prowler. I’d post a pic, but I don’t know how to do it here.
This was my shot at it, it’s a shared design anyway under my name here of course. It’s a very difficult colour to approximate as it does look very different under various lighting conditions but I’m happy this is close enough for me. It’s quite dark in shade/less than direct sunlight and then quite bright and has a more pink/reddish hue under direct sunlight. Even this photo doesn’t really represent it that well because of all the settings you can fiddle with, you’ll just have to try it on track and see.
You are not the only one that was looking for the metallic purple. I was too. So I just picked one of the standard purple colors. The factory brochure for the 97 prowler does show the car in purple paint. The 2000 brochure does not have the purple paint option. And according to wikipedia which is never wrong the correct color is Prowler purple metallic (only color available in 1997). There was also a trailer option that looked like the back of the car and could be painted to match the color.
Turned out pretty nice Vulcan, I think you nailed it, the stock paint had a light/dark thing going on in different light, have seen a bunch of them at various Mopar shows over the years. I did something similar, but overall, I was not a fan of the color, sort of wished that had gone the ‘Plum Crazy / In Violet’ route with the purple.
I have the put this one one of the Prowlers so far, that ‘Woodward’ Edition Pain that had, always thought Red/Black were a good combo.
I am working up a Gold and Black Design at the moment, which is looking quite promising.
I currently have the same red/black factory combo but sans the front bumperets and this seems to make the shovel lines of the nose look more intense.
I have some nice garage shots and a few shots on Road America to look at in My Pics under my GT (XboxOZ360), feel free to check them out. Would pop a few up, but using an iPad has its disadvantages in this forum…
