Is there a way to quit to make sure no progress is lost?
Quit from the main menu when it’s not loading. If you are on Xbox enable “instant on”. I no longer trust it though. I had been trying to do the Sebring 300 showcase in 45 minute stints over the weekend (when there are no updates). I would just pause it in-race, wait 15 seconds and power off my Xbox. The last time I tried I was about lap 60/81. When I restarted my Xbox it showed a black screen with the games music and then crashed to home. Wasted 2 hours nearly completing this race only to be screwed by this unstable game. Now have to wait until I somehow have 3 hours to grind out this race. All just to get a LOCKED car that should just be available to purchase.
I’m so done with Turn 10 and the disaster that they have turned Forza Motorsport into.

To quit the game I go to the main menu, then home on the xbox, then I quit forza, then turn off the xbox.
I like the return to prize cars, FM2 had cars that were locked behind championships, GT does the same thing. It gives you some incentive to play the career mode and do races you wouldn’t normally do.

I like it too, but the 3 hour endurance races are dumb. make them an hour, my eyes start to bleed after about 70 minutes.
I wish there could just be a save and quit button.

How to quit game:

Come to forums, create a new thread and rant.

Go ballistic at anyone having a different opinion to you until your thread gets locked.

Start a new thread where you ask why your thread got locked. This thread too will become locked.

Go to Windows Store to get a refund processed.

Come back to forums, start a new thread saying “goodbye, I got a refund, call me when this is fixed or I’m never buying another Forza”. This thread will also end up locked.

Lurk in a few more threads for a couple of weeks making the odd snarky comment until something else distracts you.
This may only be a workaround until you repurchase the game or start lurking in the forums after FH4 or FM8 is announced at E3.

Just like a pileup at turn one in multiplayer you clearly saw this one coming! Prophetic.

Go to the main menu, exiting whatever you’ve been doing, until you have the HOME, SINGLE PLAYER, MULTIPLAYER, CARS & PROGRESS tabs showing.
Single tap the large Xbox button on your controller or wheel.
Your Home menu will pop up on-screen.
Navigate until you highlight the Forza Motorsport 7 listing which includes More options.
Use the triple horizontal button for the menu to manage FM7, go to the bottom and select X Quit.
Now you’ve properly closed out the game.

Just keep pressing escape or back button until it asks you do you want to exit the game on PC. In some cases, it will do it all for you.

I know how to shut a game down. Most the games I play have a save and quit option. I haven’t been playing this much with other games that have been coming out. I was doing the forzathon stuff yesterday and today and it wasn’t registering that I completed the event requirements right away and I didn’t want to lose progress. This used to be a great community here but it looks like it’s gamefaqs 2.0 now. I actually like the game even if I don’t put tons of time into it. Won’t be back here though. I deal with enough assholes as it is.
Respectfully I feel that was a little bit harsh as without context your question wasn’t clear that you are used to having a save and quit option. Forza Motorsport games have never had this option so it seems people assumed you were having issues with losing data / progress after shutting the game down. Which is how I read your post as well.

Just having a bit of fun with your thread title and poking fun at the people who come and rage quit in the forums.
Don’t take it personal, it actual had nothing to do with you, I just jumped on the chance to have some fun with a bit of a twist of the words.
I feel every one else was very helpful too.

A work colleague of mine did an expat stint in the USA.
On his first day he was called by the head of HR.
His company had a policy of reminding Aussie expats that they were in the USA and that inadvertently causing offense is something they notice due to cultural differences.
So you’re spot on.

So where did you end up in Australia on ya visit, Sounds like a Busines trip so most likey South of the border and if Sydney or Melbourn then yea not may happy peeps down that way all the happy peeps move up North.
Now to work out why my Australian Bush Tail Possums are not showing up in sig.
Big x button,hamburger button,quit game at bottom of list that comes up,and always make sure the little saving circle is not moving before doning anything,works everytime.
I don’t pay much attention to how I quit, but I always quit out of the game prior to playing. Aside from the bugs that are hopefully getting worked out, I really enjoy this game.

Also, yes I’m in Sydney, which does go a good way to explaining some of my aggression sometimes, particularly directly after a commute.
