I don’t know if anyone else has noticed but it is significantly harder for me to drive in FM5 than any other Forza before it. I think the controller inputs have changed somehow. There seem to be large deadzones in the steering axis, and trying to reduce the deadzone to 0 actually increased it for me!! It seems like I can move the stick about 8-10% in each direction before I see any steering input in the game.
The same can be said for the triggers as seen in this video:
I was pretty fast in FM4 without any assists on, but this game’s controls are so strange it’s hard for me to just stay on the track sometimes!
I’ve been playing some GT6 and haven’t had these same problems. I know those games handle a bit differently, but FM5 feels completely different from FM4.
Also, I’d love to be able to use my Forza branded Fanatec CSR wheel and possibly eliminate the problem altogether, but it doesn’t look like that’s an option anymore
Has anyone else noticed a difference in the controls?
I used the Xbox wireless wheel to play Forza Horizon; before getting the wheel, using the xbox controller I found the game all but unplayable.
I got Forza 5 and XBox One but not any of the wheels, was kinda hoping for a wireless wheel to come out. But in the meantime I’ve learned to play using the xbox one controller. A friend who got good at it on the 360 in Forza 4 helped me out to get going.
I haven’t tried adjusting deadzone but did experiment with alternative button setups recently, and that has been really helping my driving all around.
I have tried 3 xbox one controllers in this and other games. All 3 seemed identical.
the first day of playing FM5 i felt the exact same way, but then i learned it all has to do with the rumble in each trigger.
pay alot of attention to the rumble in the trigger, the rumble lets you know when your at the edge of traction.
the type and intensity of the rumble is something you have to get familiar with, but once you recognize them its easy to feel when your at the limit.
THE RUMBLES IN THE TRIGGERS IS KEY.
