Pre-ordering Forza Horizon 4, Retailer Bonuses, and Pre-Order Cars

POST-LAUNCH INFO

There are seven “Preorder Car” models in the game’s roster. Although they were originally offered as bonuses by pre-ordering the game from specific retailers, they are available for all players to use without a requirement for any DLC codes. The seven models are variants of seven base cars available to all players, tuned by Forza’s developers to the top of their PI class. There are some differences in the ability to upgrade the base cars vs. the Preorder Car model specs. As of April 2020 Preorder Cars are blocked from being listed in the Auction House, but have been offered for direct acquisition from the Forzathon Shop from time to time - see the Exclusive Cars List thread. Preorder Cars are also included in the Horizon Promo & Car Collection tile in the Pause menu.

PC vs Console vs Console

  • Xbox One Compatible: Any purchased edition, disc or digital, will play on Xbox One / One S / One X.
  • Xbox One X Enhanced: If you install and play on One or One S and then switch to One X, you will receive a 4K asset content update for free.
  • Xbox Play Anywhere: a digital purchase means ownership for Xbox console plus free Windows 10 PC installation. Achievements and gamesave sync between both platforms, but you can only be signed in to your account on one device at a time. You don’t need to own a console to play on PC. Physical disc purchase does not provide Windows 10 PC installation, but later digital purchase will use the same gamesave and progress.
  • Install size: TBA
  • Resolution: 4K Ultra HD is not available on Xbox One / One S.
  • High Dynamic Range: HDR is available on Xbox One S and One X and PC with enabled tv/monitor.
  • Framerate: 60fps mode is available on Xbox One X at lower resolution. PC can play at unlocked framerate with capable hardware.

Does anyone know if the pre-orders are limited to these retailers? Or will the Microsoft Store be having it soon so a digital version can be purchased in order to have both W10 and Xbox One copies for Play Anywhere?

it’s not in the Deluxe edition but the car pass is instead

Since I have the game pass I considered just playing this game effectively for free.

Side note: Amazon has 6 month game pass codes for $25 making it only $5 a month and you can buy up to two of them. I think it’s only valid while e3 is going on. Pretty much a no-brainer for anyone that games even the slightest bit.

The couple days early and a few extra cars don’t really mean much to me. But it looks like for the first time they are including the expansions in the ultimate edition. Previously if I remember right with any version of the Forza Motorsport games you had to actually buy the expansion separately even if you had pre-purchased The Ultimate Edition. Possibly I’m wrong here but it seems like they’re now throwing those in which makes the ultimate edition actually worth it vs saving the $100 and playing on my “free” game pass version.

Yes it’s an even better value this year.

For me the early access is a big deal. Since Horizon is always released around my birthday. So I use my birthday holiday and get to play forza horizon all day, on the first day of early release.

It’s always been an excellent birthday present to myself.

I’m still trying to figure out what Xbox Game Pass does to all this, since I’ve been subscribed for a bit and just bought 6 months for $30…

Looks like I would still technically want the ultimate edition for the perks but I have no idea how having Game Pass might affect the pricing on that.

Don’t you get a discount with the Game Pass?

I plan on purchasing the Ultimate edition again. It’s an even better value this time.

I’d assume so… I have to look in to the specifics on how much of a discount. There’s enough in Game Pass that it’s teetering on being worth $10/mo for me generally, but the half price sales going on right now make it a no brainer.

Wouldn’t you just be buying the vip and car pass separately like past games if you just originally bought the standard edition

To answer your first question: basically you’d be buying everything but the base game as that’s included in the pass.

As others have mentioned, Game Pass usually gives you discounts on buying the games in the pass, as well as their addons, so I’m wanting to see more details on that.

To your concern about it being removed from the pass, I would assume it won’t be. Horizon is a first party game, published by Microsoft (and now Playground is officially a MS studio) so it will be part of Gamepass from launch and available indefinitely based on what MS has said about first party games and gamepass in the past.

I am a very new game pass owner so no idea. I have seen a list of games taken out but not sure what happens then.

Discount on any game in the Library Discounts on any Addons, Have had game Pass since day one and prime games seem to have a funny life span it seems to come down to how popular it is if not popular it gets dropped and replaced with another game. Once a game is dropped that is it pay up or remove, Notice is give before games removed giving you a chance to buy at discounted rate This rate can be different seems to be between 10% and 20% that I have noticed. No discounts for Game Pass holders for Pr-Orders so far.

Choices you have Play the game with game Pass and wait till on special and then buy, play the game with Game Pass and just buy Add on Packs and only buy the game if it is going to be removed if you wish, Bite the bullet and buy game on Pre order with all the bels and whistles, rembering that as Forza Motorsport 7 got closer to release the more they added to the Pre Order package

The Game Pass 6 Month Pass cannot be purchased in Australia from Au Amazon or from US Amazon must be a regional thing.

I also have read that by having game pass you get discounts on dlc as well as buying the game for permanant use on games currently in the game pass

The reference to Horizon Life makes me think these are for your in-game character, not real life clothing. We should make sure before saying either way.
