Premium edition - is it worth it?

Hi,

until now I’ve been buying premium edition for each forza pc release. I like how I could pay once and forget about anything that drains my pocket. Unfortunately I see, there are car packs that aren’t covered by car pass released for some time for FH5. I could live with that - I’ve got my DLCs and I just don’t buy additional car packs for that game, so even if I feel it isn’t fair, I’ve got enough content with premium ed to let it go.

The question is - is it the same with FM23? Regardless of current game quality, premium edition seem like it adds nothing important to the game, as there already are a lot of cars, so 30 additional won’t be a huge loss. My only concern for now would be access to future additional tracks, but restriction in that area will be an ultimate NO GO for me.

So - is it worth to pay double price for this game?

I bought on pre order and I thinks it’s not worth it, I’m not even sure I’ve used one of the pass cars.

I pre-ordered premium edition, and I have to say… I just wasted money, just try this game on gamepass and forget xd

It was nice not to have to think about if I wanted the bonus cars. I just got them with the premium edition. Plus from what I understand, VIP greatly reduces the grind for credits in the game. I am satisfied with getting the premium ed.

Nope. Standard edition isn’t worth it either. Just play the game with gamepass.

Here’s the list of Car Pass: Cars List | Forza Motorsport | kudosprime.com

Unless you think you’ll regularly use 20+ of these, Premium Edition isn’t worth the money and the few cars you do like you may want to buy individually.

Also, there are no race car events in Career so the majority of these would be limited to Free Play, Rivals and Multiplayer.

Looking at the list I see only 1 car I would keep in my permanent garage (the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro). The rest are for the most part outclassed by the base game content in the categories I race in (primarily Open Class Featured Multiplayer).

Absolutely not.
Don’t pay for the game at all - if you must play it do so on gamepass.

This company and this product do not deserve your money - spend it on something that offers actual value and engagement.

If you like race cars and you want to earn more credits in races, sure then buy the premium edition.

Gamepass wasn’t an option for me because i really really despise Microsoft Store game versions in general, that is why i bought the Steam premium edition. I hope the game gets better over time. So far i am extremely dissapointed.

If you don’t own the game yet and you have an X-Box or you don’t mind using the Microsoft Store version on PC, then you can test it with gamepass first. If you like it then buy it, if not then not.

Thanks for answers, the car list doesn’t look like a composition of must-haves.
I don’t own a gamepass, and I don’t intend to, so my only take for the game is to buy it.

100% no. Maybe if there was some events to use the car pass cars in then maybe. Also now credits will be more useful than the double payout will help but certainly not worth the extra. As has been said I wouldn’t recommend buying even the base game, game pass is the only way to go for this.

I will gift you a gamepass friend code with 14 days free trial if you don’t waste your money on these crooks.

edit* That way you can make your own mind up.

I’d say so for the extra cars and, now, the increased utility of CP. You get 2X with premium. Besides, $20 is lunch. You’ll be playing this game far longer than it takes you to digest a sandwich.

Is the game worth it?

I’d say that depends what you’re looking for. Personally, I love the driving feel, and for hot lapping and free play, this is a pretty decent game. It has problems, but the driving brings me joy at least. If you are looking for a big career or some top notch public multiplayer, this might not be the right game for you.

You can always take advantage of refund policies to get a couple hours of test drive with it before you decide to commit or refund.

Is the DLC worth it?

Honestly, you wouldn’t be missing much. You can check this list to see which cars are in the two packs (Car Pass contains 30 mostly race cars, Race Day Car Pack contains 8 race cars). There aren’t really cars without equivalent in the base game.

With the Premium Edition, you pay about 0.8€/car extra. Compared to the individual cost of 3€/car it’s a steal, but compared to the I-don’t-care cost of 0€/car it’s daylight robbery.

Which edition should I buy?

In a nutshell, if you don’t care about the extra cars, buy the Standard. It’s always going to be cheapest.

If you do care about having the cars, buy the Premium. Premium gives you the two packs, plus VIP for extra credits. VIP is a nice bonus though I wouldn’t pay additional money for it.

As far as pricing goes, generally:

Disclaimer: your priceage may vary, always check your prices locally

  • Cheapest, period: Standard. No DLC, no VIP.

  • Cheapest with all the cars: Premium Edition. If you don’t want to commit to the full price now, Standard Edition now + Premium Bundle later would be a little more expensive but still the second best option. Either way, you get VIP.

  • For the Car Pass only: Deluxe Edition is cheapest. No VIP.

  • For the Race Day Car Pack: Standard + Race Day Car Pack is generally cheapest, no VIP (though current Spring Sale on Steam makes Premium Edition cheapest anyways, and you get VIP)

  • For just five individual cars or less: Standard + individual cars, no VIP.

(Note: with the current Spring Sale, the Standard, Deluxe and Premium Editions are 35% off, but the DLC and bundle aren’t. This is relevant if you were to only buy the game + Race Day Car Pack as noted.)

I’ve always pre-orderd and bought the premium/VIP versions. However this time I can categorically say that it was a waste of money. It’s the first time I’ve ever regretted spending money on a game, and it’s a Forza title at that!

If xou can live with the poor quality of everything in this ‘game’, then Premium would be fine for you.

I bought the premium and the car pass stuff for Horizon 5, and was pretty disappointed with myself afterwards. Not because I feel like I didn’t get my “money’s worth” or anything like that, it was just that there are so many cars that the addition of a few extra made zero difference to the amount of fun I was having.

The DLC’s were ok, but I really only enjoyed the rally update. So after all that, I decided to wait and see if I missed anything by not purchasing it for FM 23’. So far, so good. It sucks sometimes when there is a clearly better car locked behind DLC, but its fine. I do well enough without paying for it. Gives me a chip on the shoulder to perform better.

Not worth full retail price.
Steam currently has it on sale for 35% off.

I bought the ultimate editions of FM7 and FH4. I used one car from each ultimate car pass. In each version. I’ll never again buy an ultimate version of a forza game. That is that I’ll most likely never again buy any forza game.

Nope don’t get it not worth it,regrett wasting money on the pass, and this game should have waited till xmas 2024 it might be a complete game by then…

I wish I could recommend this as I’m among the folks who excitedly preordered the Premium edition.

Nope - just stick to the Gamepass edition. If you see improvements, then start with the standard edition. Almost none of the car pass cars are worth it, just IMHO, and the track roster isn’t too exciting compared to previous Forzas both on the Xbox One and X360.
