Power Limiter....?

There’s a feature present in “another” racing game, whereby one could adjust the power of any car (by ECU or Air-Restrictors) and thereby allowing cars that are just outside of lower car classes to be used in lower car classes with restricted power. This would bring much more flexibility into Forza were it implemented. For instance, you could take a P1 or LaFerrari into S-Class with restricted power, and therefore no advantage but a great opportunity to see many more cars being used in different car classes.

Anyone else have the same thoughts?

This forum isn’t a propaganda state, you can say things like Gran Turismo, Project CARS and Assetto Corsa around here

Forza doesn’t have car-specific power limiters, although there are some tools in private lobbies that can restrict the power and grip levels of certain cars if that’s what you’re after.

The only true “balance of performance” system in Forza however is the PI rating system, and outside of making your car heavier or swapping out a key component, there’s no way to “detune” your car to a lower class.

I know this only too well, lol. I was wanting to throw the question out there to hear others opinions on the matter. I would like to see a Pi (I’m guessing performance Index?) shakeup that includes a way to bring down power on engines. I know it most likely won’t happen, but I wanted to get it off my chest…it’s been bugging me for a while now.
Imagine being able to map cars so you could change boost levels, Engine/Chassis wear, car wash! …getting a little off topic, but I do miss not having these real life effects in Forza.

Ps. Sorry for my “quotes” and not just saying Gran Tourismo…the small print for the rules is too small for me to read. It’s like the instructions for medication…they should come with a magnifying glass! :joy::yum:

I think that the OP is looking rather different idea. More on the lines what “Turbo Glitch” from FM4 was

And for those who dont know or dont remember,
In FM4 there was way to glitch a car which had some form of forced induction to end up being natrually aspirated, or in some cases add intercooler as a ballast to natrually aspirated car.
This was common in B C D and E class cars, but some cars were downgraded from S class to A class too.
One of the very notorious cars from FM4 was Lanca 037 which was often turbo glitched which made the car lighter but less powerful, and then used other means to gain some power back.

Actually I have been kinda missing a way to “downgrade” some cars.

I believe the power limiter would be a great addition to the tuning options, in order to fine-tune the PI better. All too often a set of ideal upgrades puts a car slightly over the target PI, and swapping engine components often bumps it down further than desired and compromise on chassis/drivetrain upgrades becomes needed to “max” the vehicle out to a certain class.

I know it sounds weird, but I think downgrading would allow for some interesting options aswell (like swapping a smaller engine into a car). I remember in Forza 4 I was able to get some R2 cars into R3 by equipping drag tires.

I really wish Forza would allow downgrading, but I think I read somewhere that T10 prefers to offer cars at their highest possible tunings. It’s the reason we have the Charger Hellcat but no regular street Charger.

For me personally, I much prefer production versions of cars because I cannot drive the higher classes very well. If they added the ability to downgrade some vehicles, that would make me quite happy.

I would actually like to see the GT HP restriction system, but it’s kind of scary for balance.

At the same time though, GT1 cars in S class will be lighter with much more downforce, which means they will be able to hold more speed through the corners. So those cars likely will dominate leaderboards on tight road courses, while leaderboards may be skewed in favor of high powered cars in other courses, since the PI is calculated on a simulation course which reflects a balanced racetrack, and since Forza’s tracks all deviate from that, you do get a lot of play in 700PI from one car to another, as evidenced by the routine domination of one car chassis on a given track.

I’m inclined to believe doing this will cause a huge influx of r1 -2 -and 3 into S or less. There was a time when you could drop I believe a (Rotary) engine into a R1 (Mazda B09/86) car in one of the games past (FM3) which dropped it into S class.

It did extremely well, and If I’m not mistaken, that engine swap was removed. But I’m a bit rusty there, not sure if they did.

I’m thinking if you could only engine restrict a few percent it might be okay, like 5% maybe. Sometimes it’ll be just enough, and sometimes it won’t.

So If they do it, I’d rather it be more of a fine tuning adjustment, on the basis of balance.

Did some research and edited.
