"Poor Network" in Featured Multiplayer

I constantly get a message saying “Poor Network” when in multiplayer. This despite seemingly not having any issues when actually racing, as far as seeing other drivers clearly and no one glitching around.

My internet is pretty fast (home 5G, getting 800+ Mbps and wired in). That said, I’m in Melbourne. Is this a problem for everyone in Australia or just me? Are there steps I can take to troubleshoot or improve the network from the perspective of Forza to reduce the risk of any issues occurring in-game?

Sorry, I should have mentioned I’m on PC. I appreciate your response, thanks!

I’ve been on 5G for a while now, and it’s been really good. I’ve never had issues, even in poor weather (which has surprised me). Whenever I’ve checked download speeds, including right now, I get 800+ download and 100+ upload. But that “Poor Network” message is still planted to the top of the screen at all times.

At the risk of revealing just how much of a tech noob I am, some googling lead me to check ping stuff. Using pingdetector.com (no Forza :frowning: ) I get 40ms~ to games with any Australian servers, but 200+ anywhere else in the world. Perhaps Forza just doesn’t have a server here and I’m doomed to a slow ping? Could that be the cause of the message?

i got the same message last night. i’m on a gigabit as well (probably get 700-800mps to the Xbox wired) Also never saw any problems racing. probably a bug or something - or maybe someone else in the lobby has slow network? not sure but I saw the same thing from the US

Ok well, sounds like I should just monitor the situation. No point tinkering if there isn’t a real problem.

Thanks for the responses!

I’m also in Melbourne, on Gigabit FttP and I also get the poor network message on Xbox, but like you, I haven’t really noticed any issues driving.

I have the issue as well in some races. Internet speed doesn’t really matter. I have a ping of ~38 in all games. No issues, no lags ever. I’m playing on Xbox, wired, not wifi.

I have the same issue whether it’s from my network via cable or my mobile hotspot from an entirely different provider. Both have reasonably good speeds and I didn’t have issues playing multi in other big corpo (dunno if it counts as triple A but whatever FM is supposed to be) games.

It is absolutely frustrating and this is definitely a game server side issue. I actually bought the game, not just a gamepass tourist. Finally brought my skill levels up to face multi and then basically 4 out of 5 games I join I’m getting booted. It usually happens within a minute of joining a lobby but worst case its during the intermission.

The majority of players play in the USA or Europe of course the game will be laggy, or there might be network issues if you play against them from Australia or New Zealand or something. The internet can’t be faster than the speed of light.

Here a Pinglist of Melbourne for example.

You can add (+ Add Source City) any bigger city you like on the left side there and click on it, to show the connection of that source city to target cities.

I think we see this more now due to the overall lack of global players online. When it was busy bitd you were put with players closer to you, now we are thrown into lobbies with people from all over the world because the numbers are so sparse. I get that message a few times in NASCAR only when there’s 20 or more players, the small glitching at the start of the races seems to clear up sometimes after a few laps & the message disappears, not always though.

I just assume this comes up when the lobby is made up of several different nations.
