If I feel the need to drift, you know what I do? I just play FH5. But I never really feel the need to do that lol.
Drifting should ALWAYS be 100% OPTIONAL, but now we need to drift to unlock something and that isn’t cool.

I enjoy drifting as a distraction. I’m not serious about it and neither are my builds I often use (Clio Williams with AWD and 650hp on stock tyres).
It’s great that it’s added, but it’s never been a make-or-break for me. Drifting in Horizon still exists if I really needed it.
I am no drift fan but afaik you should use RWD cars to drift, not AWD.
I also prefer AWD lol, I am no drift person lol.
The car has 95% going to the rear wheels, the fronts are powered a little bit to control extreme angles.
For more serious drifting I use RWD, but that rarely happens.

I’d be all for drift if they actually added some drift content. Like the racing part of it.
They’ve only added drift qualifying, FD is all about drift battles, 1v1 door to door battles, chase cars, etc. This is basically the same as what Horizon has, big let down imo.
Motorsport should be organized race events, for everyone to enjoy.
As it is, I don’t care about it. If they gave us a complete drift mode, I would.

Once we have Fujimi Kaido, or something similar, I’ll be spending a lot of my Forza time drifting. Till then, I don’t expect to use the new features.

it is still optional, you can just buy the Formula Drift Mustang…

Well it’s quite obvious that 2/3 of the people said ‘NO’. So again they added a feature for some reason that the bulk of their player base doesn’t care about. Still can’t figure out how to listen to the people playing your game, so embarrassing.

There’s more to it than just appealing to the current customer base.
There are some people that won’t buy the game because there’s no drift or maybe because there’s no drag. Each of those motorsports are very niche (but extremely popular in 2024) and if they fledge out each game mode, could very well help further populate the game.
I’d honestly venture to say there’s more people interested in drag/drift than there is in circuit racing. Basing off the numbers I see for drift/drag only games on Steam.

Because the player base is declining, they try everything to find new players or at least not to annoy fringe groups. The main fan group who have waited 6 years for this garbage is allready lost forever, I suppose.

More people play the game than the previous part. And the number of players is increasing.
This is real data, but we cannot share more about it.
The survey here is not representative, since most of the FM forum members play primarily for normal racing. This forum is very small and relatively unknown for such a survey. The Drift mod is important because it will presumably appeal to many new players.

That’s why I play the ancient Forza Horizon titles and Forza Motorsport 4 on X-Box 360.
And I enjoy it and hardly get annoyed. I try to have fun in Forza Motorsport 2023. I’m really trying.

I’m playing multiplayer and I’ve never played a racing game as much as FM8, it’s already a great experience.
You’d probably be playing Career mode, as I read from your words… As part of the insider program, we have a better view of the next updates. Wait a few more months and the career mode will be fine!

There’s a visceral hatred of drifting in this thread. Didn’t expect that.
There’s traditionally a large drifting community around forza but alot of that has dissipated since the discipline been neglected by both titles.

I think because they really only added solo drift practice/qualifying. Once they add some gameplay to it I’m sure more people will be on board.
(I know there’s private lobbies, most people run MP though)
Not to mention the inherent bias in the likelihood that there are very few (if any) dedicated drifters still around to take this poll since this game hasn’t had any drifting for a year.
