Dynamic weather is great if it’s dynamic. However, every day race I go into the sun is either just rising or setting.
The contrast is way to strong and the cockpit looks black and the environment looks way too bright (this is on an Asus ROG 752 with a G-Force 970 running recommended settings). This game isn’t even worth playing on a normal Xbox One. It might be worth getting an Xbox One X if this game doesn’t die off too soon.
Can anyone tell me if/how I can turn the brightness up. I hate this over indulgence with the contrast. I haven’t seen it this bad since FM4! What’s wrong with normal midday racing?! Put the sun up in the sky a few times, not on the horizon all the time!
Having own both console for a long time I can say that Microsoft always gives a little extra boost of contrast into their games. See for it yourself when watching YouTube videos comparison of the same game. If gives the appearance that one may look better than the other but all it does is just crushes the blacks and you loose details in dark areas. I say just keep it natural looking. Remember Forza games always looks looks darker than it should be. Even when you use the console video calibration app you still need to bump brightness settings up 3-5 notches afterwards as night tracks and cockpit views are still dark and you still see loss of details.
They have a problem with the balance in the way this game renders, I think they have been trying to tune the baselines with HDR in mind and not done the best job of it.
You know what solves the problem? By doing what most other decent games do, and have at least an in game brightness/gamma adjustment. Instead of a screen with text telling you to change your screen settings just for this game, which is always annoying. It’s been mentioned before.
Haha yes I can’t see a thing in the Dubai tunnel! It’s a leap of faith every time if you’re in the lead. And the car’s headlights don’t come on either.
It has the appearance of a camera having a grey filter on it - similar to how old films tried to (badly) simulate night time. See “night time” scenes in Monty Python’s Life of Brian for more details.
So it sounds like at least everyone who has replied on this thread is of the opinion that the contrast settings are too dark…

I have an awesome laptop that runs FH3 like a dream @60FPS in high settings. It looks the dogs! Why does FM7 look so miserable, dark and skippy? Skippy, or stuttery? Whatever, the framerame is dire!
I’m starting to wonder if this being T10’s first time with HDR is what is causing this out of wack lighting. They do have 3 platforms to work on now up from 1 so the workload for them has increased quite a bit.
Agreed! I’ve just been driving at VIR (then the game crashed when I tried do do my own livery for the next race). Who in their right mind would start a race in those conditions?! Dynamic weather is supposed to create more realistic and varied conditions, not stupid races in bad conditions at sunset/sunrise. Fine, if we’re doing an endurance race at Le Mans, we might expect and appreciate these conditions - I mean surely that’s why they want dynamic conditions, for these symbolic races, but in career mode on standard length races surely we just want more standard conditions, right?
